​Ceasor Minter, Jr. age 69, 235 South Broad Street, Apt. #408-B, Buena, Vista, Georgia passed Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, Georgia.

The graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Buena Vista City Cemetery, Buena Vista, Georgia.

Please also be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates to limit the number of attendees at all services at this time. We are limiting the number of attendees to no more than 10  at the funeral home chapel services and graveside services. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.  

​Ceasor was born May 19, 1950 in Buena Vista, Georgia to Helen Terry Minter and the late Ceasor Minter, Sr. He was a graduate of Buena Vista High School.

He was formerly employed with Standard Paint Company where he was a filler.

He leaves to cherish his memories a wife, Patricia Minter, Buena Vista, Georgia; mother, Helen Minter, Buena Vista, Georgia; siblings, Mary Alice Brown, Gail Harris, Jackie Jordan and Tyrone Minter (Tonya); mother-in-law, Mary B. Jones, New Berry, Florida; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Curtis Bell (Brenda), Byron Wheeler (Ronica), Dexter Wheeler (Equila) all of Ocala, Florida and Nathaniel Jones, California; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wilbur Lee Fish

​Wilbur Lee Fish, age 78, passed on March  26, 2020 at his residence. 

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow at Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Please also be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates to limit the number of attendees at all services at this time. We are limiting the number of attendees to no more than 10  at the funeral home chapel services and graveside services. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.  

​​Wilbur Lee Fish was born August 5, 1941 in Ideal, Macon County, Georgia to the late Eddie Lee Fish, Sr. and the late Mary Lizzie Meadows Fish.  He was preceded in death by seven siblings, J. C. Fish, Eddie Lee Fish, Jr., Charlie C. Fish, Willie Henry Fish, Lotha Mae Fish, Betty Jean Fish Burley, and Raymond Fish.  He acquired his primary education from the historic Ideal Elementary School of Ideal, Georgia and the historic Macon County High Training School.   The family moved to New Castle, Pennsylvania where he continued his high school education. He joined the St. Paul Baptist Church of New Castle, Pennsylvania and served on the Deacon Board Ministry where he served until he moved back to his native land. After returning he connected back with Shady Grove Baptist Church of Ideal, Georgia.  Wilbur Lee was a great traveler, he toured the Atlantic Coast and even traveled the Route 66.  He enjoyed watching football and baseball. He will be remembered by all his young cousins as the one who wrestled with the alligators and bears.
 
He was the father of two sons; one son preceded him in death, Wilbur Lee Fish, Jr.
 
He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Daniel Fish, Maryland; one grandson, Wilbur Lee Fish, III; three siblings, Rosa Lee Burton, Stockbridge, Georgia, Thomas Fish (Dorothy) Waddell, Arizona, and Ernest Lee Fish (Annett) New Castle, Pennsylvania; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including two devoted, Rev. Wayne Fowler and Brother Stanley Stewart; and a special long time friend Willie James Ogburn.

Linda Faye Marshall

Linda Faye Marshall, age 65, passed on March 20, 2020. 

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Antioch Baptist Church, 1298 Chokee Road, DeSoto, Georgia.

Linda was born in Lee County, Georgia on September 10, 1954, to the late Leona Hargove Westbrook and the late Eddie Lee Westbrook, Sr. She was educated in the Lee County public school system and also attended Troy State University.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Jim Westbrook, C.T. Westbrook, Willie Westbrook and Calvin Westbrook, and a granddaughter Jaimeria Bowens. 

Linda worked as a seamstress at Manhattan Shirt Company, in Americus, Ga. She also worked in the Sumter County school system, where she was a Paraprofessional until she retired. As a young girl she enjoyed competing with her brothers. Linda was a matriarchal figure for all of her siblings. She gladly took on the role of “surrogate mom” by preparing delicious homemade meals, especially Sunday dinners. Linda’s siblings and other family members oftentimes sought her advice and opinions. She was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, friend, church and choir member. Linda found great joy in serving the Lord. At an early age she joined the Antioch Baptist Church.

One of her many gifts, was a beautiful voice. She was a longtime member of the Antioch Baptist Church choir, in which she held various positions. Linda was steadfast in her faith and held firm to her convictions. Linda was the heart of the family and will be truly missed.
 
She leaves to cherish her memories: a son, Anthony Denard Westbrook, Cordele Georgia; daughter Amber Nicole Marshall, Americus, Georgia, seven  grandchildren Alayshia Marshall, Azavion Marshall, Avari Patterson Armani Westbrook, Antoria Westbrook, Antyria Westbrook,  five siblings, Eddie Westbrook Jr., Americus, Georgia, Otis Westbrook, Desoto, Georgia, Robert Westbrook, Kathleen, Georgia, Louise Barthell, Americus, Georgia, Brinda Sedgwick (Everett), Alexandria, Virginia, John Clark (Regina), Atlanta, Georgia; sisters-in–law, Nina Westbrook, Desoto, Georgia and Lela Westbrook, Cordele, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including two devoted cousins, Charlie Westbrook and Mapp Mency, and a devoted friend Carla Henry.

Gloria Powell, age 72, passed on March 16, 2020 in Jacksonville, Florida.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, March 26, 2020 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.

​Gloria was born January 15, 1948, in Macon County, to the late Emily Miller Davis and late Claudie Davis, Jr.  She was educated in the public school system of Macon County where she attended the historic D. F. Douglass High School in Montezuma, Georgia. Over the years she was employed with Dixie Queen, Montezuma Nursing Home, Carter’s Fried Chicken, and Tyson Foods. Gloria was a lover of family, nature and fishing.  She loved spending time with the grandchildren, gardening, cooking, and playing cards. She truly served as the matriarch for the family.

On June 9, 1980 two hearts became one as Gloria was united in holy matrimony to the late Johnny Powell, Sr. Their loved blossom for over twenty-five years and to this union they were blessed with five children; two preceded her in death, Michelle and Kimberly Davis.

She leaves to cherishes her memories a daughter, Jennifer (Jeff) Northern Jacksonville, Florida; four grandchildren two of which she reared as her own Victavious Davis and Kimberly Davis of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Jakalen (Alicia) Northern, Fallon, Nevada, and Jakhya Northern of Jacksonville, Florida; one great grandchild, Jaliyah Northern of Fallon, Nevada; two stepchildren Charlene (Randy) Merritt of Duluth, Georgia and Johnny (Conswella) Powell of Jonesboro, Georgia; five step-grandchildren, Antwan (Elizabeth) Powell of Denver, Colorado, Jawan Powell and Brittany Powell of Jonesboro, Georgia, Brandon Merritt and Jordan Merritt of Duluth, Georgia; two sisters, Estella Kazinazrul, of Decatur, Georgia, Gladys Davis of Oglethorpe, Georgia; one brother, Ernest (Lucretia) Davis, Sr. Conyers, Georgia; two aunts, Mattie Gouch of Ellenwood, Georgia and Avonia Carson of Atlanta, Georgia.

Shawn Postell also known as Adisa Onyemachi, 309 Sleepy Hollow Road, Marshallville, Georgia, age  48, passed on March 16, 2020.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Sunday March 22, 2020 at Colonial Felton Cemetery, 100 Cemetery Drive, Marshallville, Georgia.

Shawn Postell AKA (Adisa Onyemachi) was born January 9, 1972 in Marshallville, Ga to Mary Ann Postell and Melvin Postell Sr. (Sefu). He received his public education for the public school system of Fulton County.  He attended Northside High school in Atlanta, Ga and Tri-Cities High School in East Point, Ga. He also attended the Pan African Orthodox Christian Church at an early age, where he studied religion, African history, community living which earned him the name Adisa Onyemachi which means one who make his meaning clear and knows God’s will.  

For a number of years he was employed with Step-2, Walmart and various jobs. Adisa decided to branch out and became a truck driver and became an owner/operator truck driver through L. J. Rogers Trucking Company. Adisa was fun loving person to all who knew him. 

He leaves a legacy of fond memories to his beloved family and friends, he leaves to cherish forever his mother and father Mary Ann Postell and Melvin Postell Sr. (Sefu) including the love of his life Patrice Smith four children Joshua Williams, Dizhanique Postell, Daizhon Postell, and D’Shawn Postell; his step-children Nijas Ogburn, Accajhuann Smith, and Thajai Colbert; one grandson Zyheir M. Carr; four siblings Melvin Postell Jr., Shandricka Postell of Marshallville, Ga and Kokayi Postell of Acura, Ghana, Shomari Postell of Macon, Ga. His grandmother Altomese Tiny Taylor; A host of beloved nieces and nephews. A host of aunts and uncles including his favorite aunt Larbarba Taylor, Francine Miller, Mildred Bearden (Tyrone), Judy Taylor,Bruce Taylor(Allison) Malcom Taylor (Sabrina), Berthia Jones, Annie Lizzie Postell, Eva Mae Jones, and Morris Postell.
; a devoted friend and cousin Mike Buckner and long time high school friend Thomas Evans.

Alguria Miller

Alguria Miller, age 74, passed on March 15, 2020.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2787 James Road, Montezuma, Georgia.

​Alguria Miller was born in Fort Myers, Florida on June 30, 1945 to the late Hattie Miller and Johnny B. Williams. She was raised in Montezuma, Georgia and later moved and became a long time resident of Dover, Delaware for over 50 years before returning to her native home of Georgia.

Alguria worked as a supervisor for Playtex Inc. for 33 years and upon retirement she was able to pursue her love in life full time as she went on to own and operate several Soul Food Restaurants. Residents from near and far came to enjoy her many delicious dishes, most notably “Dem Collard Greens."

“Mom Alguria” as many would refer to her, always kept a door open for anyone in need, and a hot plate of her Soul Food was certain! She has always been a caring and loving nurturer.
​
Alguria is survived by her longtime partner Jimmy Peterkin, two children Audrey Miller and Jeffrey Crippen, her grandchildren Chante Livingston, DaMar Miller, Jerome Miller, Jermaine Miller, Taryn Perry, Rashad Miller, and Jeffia Crippen, brothers and sisters, Willie James Williams, Louis Henry Williams, Leonard Williams, Willie Joe Howard, Bruce Palmer, Ronnie Williams, Iris Lyn Atkinson, Lisa Whitfield, and a host of great grands, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Alguria was preceded in death by her grandmother Rosa Lee Brown, Mother Hattie Miller, Her daughter Raisheka Moten, Her Brother Johnny Williams, and her sister Norma Williams.

Willie Hill Dennis

​Willie Hill Dennis son of the late Charlie and Mary Frances Dennis was born on June 25, 1947 in Montezuma, Georgia. He departed this life on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Jackson Memorial North Hospital in Miami, Florida.

At an early age Willie parents instilled and exposed him to a Christian way of life. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the band of Christian Believers at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia. Even after he relocated as an adult he continued to visit Zion Hill Missionary Baptist every chance he made it home. Willie was educated in the public school system of Macon County. He was a 1967 graduate of the historic D.F. Douglas High School. Following high school Willie moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1968. He was employed as tire specialist at B.F. Goodrich and Company. While working there he received several service awards and was always considered very dependable. After years of hard work and dedication with the Atlanta branch Willie took a leap of faith decided to move to Florida it was there he open his own Good Year Franchise.

Willie will always be known for his kindness, great smile and great personality. Although he has transition from this side to the other we find comfort in knowing that he will not be alone for he joins his parents Charlie and Mary Frances Dennis, brother Charles Edward Dennis, and two sisters Jane Holmes, Mary Nell Dennis.

He leaves to cherish his living memories to his devoted sons Michael Hinton (Sharon), of Union City, Georgia, Johnny Jackson of Ellenwood, Georgia, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; two brothers James Dennis (Alice) of Montezuma, Georgia, Kelvin Dennis (Pam) of Decatur, Georgia; seven sisters Betty Dennis Rumph (Mike) of Montezuma, Georgia, Dannie Coates of Decatur, Georgia, Hattie Cross of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania , Mary Frances Dennis of Decatur. Georgia, Ann Smalls (James) of Decatur, Georgia, D Elaine London of Locust Grove, Georgia Jeannette Harris (Anthony) Ellenwood, Georgia ; an adopted sister Bobbie Jean Howard and a host of nieces nephews cousins and friends.

​Mr. Oscar Luther Jones, age 71, 315 West Church Street, Americus, Georgia passed Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Zion Hope Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 19 South, Americus, Georgia. The Reverend George Mont, pastor, will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, 400 Reese Street, Americus, Georgia.

Oscar was born November 26, 1947 to the late Birdie Watkins Jones and Willie L. Jones, Sr. in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Luther Watkins, Mary Francis Watkins, Clara Butler and his wife, Mary Alice Burton. He acquired his education from the public school system of Sumter County, where he attend McCoy Hill School, and he acquired his GED from the job corps.

Oscar was a dedicated tractor trailer driver for J & M Trucking Company of Americus, Georgia for a number of years.  He also was employed with Middle Flint and Nappa Automotive.

He leaves a legacy of love to his beloved children, Shirley Prince (Dwayne Monts), Nicole Lusane (Tony) all of Americus, Georgia, Antrell Hunt (Stephanie) Columbus, Georgia, and Earl Williams of Americus, Georgia; grandchildren, Shekella Prince, Travoris Prince, Lakeithia Williams, Austine Lusane, Caidin Lusane, Jaylan Williams, Darrius Williams, and Mercedes Mable all of Americus, Georgia; great grandchildren, Bryson Temple, Justin Williams, Jordon Williams, and Eric Sampson, Jr.; sisters and their spouses, Clara Floyd (Frank) and Gail Watkins all of Americus, Georgia and Bobbie Mae Watkins of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers and their spouses, Eddie Jones (Deborah), David Jones (Diane) all of Americus, Georgia, Carl Jones of Rex, Georgia, Willie Lee Jones of Jacksonville, Florida, William Jones, Winchester, Connecticut and Larry Jones of Greenwich, Connecticut; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, including Claudette, Sandy Johnson, Toshiba, Alexis, Frank Jr., Avis, Jayden, Eddie and Travis; a loving neighbor Laura Wilson Gaines; other relatives and friends including Robert Tissue.

​Mrs. Laura Ann Sanders Harris, age 77, 312 Old Highway 128, Oglethorpe, Georgia passed Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Perry Hospital, Perry, Georgia.  

The graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday March 21, 2020 at the Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia. 

Mrs. Laura Ann was born March 8, 1943 in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia to the late Bee Sanders and the late Maggie Ford Sanders.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Sanders and Retired SGT. Roosevelt Sanders.  She was educated in the public school system of Macon County where she was a 1964 graduate of the historic D. F. Douglass High School.  She acquired her certification in culinary and dietary cooking. She was employed with the Macon County Board of Education as a dietician at Macon County Elementary School Cafeteria where she retired after 25 years of dedicated services.

Laura grew up in the Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church where she joined and became a dedicated member until her health failed. She was the beloved wife of Deacon Willie Frank Harris and to this union they were blessed with three children; one son, Bryant O'Neal Harris, preceded her in death. 

Laura was a member of the Baccheus Chapter O.E.S. No. 124.  She served in various positions of the chapter star and offices.

Survivors are two children and their spouses, Felisha Harris Eskridge (Rev. Cosby Eskridge) and Steven A. Harris, Sr. (Deborah); stepson and his spouse, Tony Kaigler (Lee); three siblings, Elder Beatrice Sanders Gaines, Marie Sanders Spikes and Agnes Sanders Wright (Larry); six grandchildren, Candace, Taylor, Deborah Ann, Charidee, Steven A. Harris Jr. and Brandan; six great grandchildren, Sasha, Hailey, Steven A. Harris III,  Camiron, Nolan and Avah; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl Gene Harris (Jacqueline) and Mary McMillan; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Fannie Lee Jefferson Oliver

​Fannie Lee Jefferson Oliver, age 98, passed March 16,2020 at the Montezuma Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Montezuma, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia. 

Fannie Lee Jefferson Oliver was born March 1, 1922 in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia to the late Lyles Jefferson and the late Susie Clark Stewart. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert King, Carrie Lillie Lloyd, W.C. Stewart, Willie O. Town, Leola Oliver, Viola Sumblin, Cora B. Cephus and Essie Mae Mallard. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County whereas she was a graduate of the Pinehill Color School and later she attended the Davis Chapel Community School.

The family moved into the city of Oglethorpe where she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the Women Missionary Auxiliary Board for a number of untiring years and she supported every facet of the church she loved so well.

She was united in holy matrimony in 1942 to the late George “G” Oliver, who passed away in 1982.

Fannie had a great life, she enjoyed designing and quilting fashionable quilts and sharing them with her family and dear friends. She kept a beautiful yard with multi color flowers and with a variety of arrangements. And in her garden was a variety of vegetables and fruits that she canned and shared with family and friends also.

She leave a legacy with beautiful memories with her beloved nephews and nieces she reared which include: Stanley Stewart (and his wife, Mary), William Stewart Jr. (and his wife Cynthia) and Linda Stewart; a host of great nephew and nieces including Michael Stewart, Quintina Clark, Shannon Stewart, LaShondia Harp, and Kabresha Harp; sister-in-law, Martha Stewart; a host of other beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephew; and a host of cousins and friends and Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church Family. ​ ​A Special Thank You to the staff/nurse at the Montezuma Health Care Center and the Phoebe Sumter Hospice of Americus, Georgia.
