​Jamarcus DaBryant Bridges, of 135 6th Avenue, Buena Vista, Georgia, passed at the age of 23.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Josh Gibson Center, 20 Josh Gibson Way, Buena Vista, Georgia. Burial will follow at St. Paul C.M.E. Church Cemetery, GA Hwy 26, Buena Vista, Georgia.

Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.

Jamarcus was born August 31, 1998 to Bridgette Sales and Donnell Sales. He was educated in the public school system of Marion County and was a 2017 graduate of Marion Co. High School. He was as a member of Love & Peace Church of Buena Vista, Georgia under the leadership of Pastor Annie Statum. Jamarcus was employed   at the Columbus Aludyne Foundry.

Annette Baker Brown, age 61, 55A Felton Jones Circle, Ellaville, Georgia passed on February 22, 2022, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, February 27, 2022,  in the Lebanon Cemetery, Travelers Home Road, Ideal, Georgia.

Sister Annette B. Brown was born in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia on June 30, 1960 to Mother Elsie Williams Baker and Mr. Ervin S. Baker. At the age of 61, on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, she moved into a prepared place not made with hands, but eternal in the Heaven. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and by two brothers, Larry D. Williams & Jesse Williams. Annette attended the public school in Ellaville GA and she went to Tri-County High School, Buena Vista, GA, in Marion County. She was a dedicated and faithful member of 4th United Holiness Church in Ellaville GA under the leadership of Elder Steven Anderson, Pastor.

She leaves to cherish memories her mother Elsie W. Baker, Ellaville GA; her devoted companion David Swanson, Ellaville GA; three daughters: Laquita Duhaney (Duane), Atlanta GA, Joveida Brown, Warner Robins GA, Ashley Brown (Israel); Three Step Children that she loved dearly: Dianne Clark, Jarod Williams, Americus GA, Jeffery Rogers Ellaville GA; nine grandchildren: ShTaydra Harris, Cornelius B. Emma Gene Minter was born February 6, 1918, in Schley, County, Georgia to the late Eddie Lee Chambliss and the late Hannah Blue Thomas. She was educated in the public school system of Schley County. She was preceded in death by two siblings Ouida Wright and Aaron Baisden. She was married to the late Orbie Minter and to this union 9 children were born one daughter preceded her in death Mary Ellen Sims.

She leaves to cherish her memories to eight children Dorothy Laster, Americus, Georgia, Ethelene Edge, Ellaville, Georgia, Arbie Ann Gordon (Richard), Atlanta, Georgia, John Thomas Minter (Brenda), Hartford, Connecticut,  Rodolph Minter (Annie), Smithville, Georgia, Hannah D. Deacon J. D. Hill, age 78, 171 Plum Road, Ideal, Georgia passed Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Hazel Colson Hospice House.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Whitewater Road, Ideal, Georgia. Burial will follow at Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Deacon Hill was born January 29, 1944 in Ideal, Macon County, Georgia to the late O.D. Hill and Daisy Ford Hill. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis Hill, Arthur James Hill, Henry Morris Hill, and one grandson, Quinton Demond Wymbs He acquired his education in the public school system of Macon County where as he attended the historic Ideal Elementary School and the historic D. F. Douglass High School.

He was united in holy matrimony to his one and only love, Lula Bell Webb and to this union they were blessed with seven children which include, John Lewis Hill, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Rickey Lee Hill, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Patricia Ann Hill Athens, Georgia,  Melanie Michelle  Hill, Athens, Georgia,  Jennifer Renae  Hill, Overland Park,  Kansas, Michael Anthony  Hill, Oglethorpe, Georgia and Jeffery Lamar Hill (Tilla), Statham, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; siblings  Mrs. Pearlie Mae Hill Joseph, and Ollie Hill Harris all of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Larry Hill of Atlanta, Georgia, Douglass Hill, Vero Beach, Florida, Mary Hill Cochran, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Shirley Hill Outler (Clarence) Covington, Georgia, Lemuel Hill, Dennis Hill, Melvin Hill  and Gwendolyn Hill Rucker, all of Oglethorpe, Georgia; uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. G.W. What a Life to Remember

Babbie Delois Felton was born October 1, 1959 in Fort Valley, Georgia to Earlene Barnes Felton and the late Jimmie Lee Felton Sr. She was preceded in death by one sister Vanessa Yovone Felton; a devoted aunt Adeline Felton; aunts, Rosa Barnes, Reeda Mae Lindsey; and one uncle Anthony Barnes, Jr. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County and was a 1977 graduate of Macon County High School. Babbie was a homemaker.  At an early age she joined the band of Christian believers at Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Preston King where she served in the Choir and Kitchen Committee.  Babbie loved to sing, bake, and have a good time with family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memories two children, Jonathan Felton (Laquawn), Bonaire, Georgia, Ursula Marshall, Marshallville, Georgia; five grandchildren, Jada Felton (whom was raised as her own), Yazmyne Walton, Harlem Felton, King Felton, Haiden Bivines; siblings, Dr. Jimmie Felton Jr. (Diya) Americus, Georgia, Leonard Felton, Vinings, Georgia, and Curtis Davis (Minnie Lee), Marshallville, Georgia; niece and nephew Colby Felton and Noah Felton; aunts and uncles, Eugene Felton Sr., Eddie Felton, Willie James Felton (Geneva), and Rudolph Felton all of Marshallville, Georgia; a host of cousins and friends including  a friend Rachel Ellison and two devoted friends who were like family Robert Shamel, and  Gynelle Gomillia-Shamel.

Ms. Lizzie Mae “Doll” (Milliner) Alridge daughter of Annie Lue (Dowsey) Hudson and the late Jimmy Milliner, was born January 20, 1951,in Schley County., Georgia.  She attended John Lewis High and later received her GED.  She is preceded in death by several aunts and uncles: Clara Bell, Earnestine, Chester, James, Camilla and Ulysses.

Doll was a faithful member of Quebec Baptist Church for many years where she served as an usher and on the hospitality committee.  She worked at Ideal Nursing Home in Ideal, Georgia as a CNA close to 25 years.  Doll worked at the Ford dealership in Americus, GA performing concierge service and various other assignments until she retired.

For those who know Doll knew she loved to dance and dress.  She was a kindred spirit and would do anything to help anyone.  She was loved by many, and her influence will remain forever in the lives of all who knew her.

Marcus Emanuel Dent was born in Albany, Georgia on February 23, 1998 to the parentage of LaKenya R. Johnson and Benjamin Dexter Dent. He was called home to be with the Lord, early Wednesday morning, February 9, 2022. At an early age Marcus joined the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Americus, GA. He served faithfully as a Junior Usher under the pastorage of Rev. Dr. H.C. Wilson. 

Marcus began his education in the Marion County Schools in Buena Vista, GA later transferring to Sumter County Schools and graduating from Americus-Sumter High School in Americus, GA Class of 2016. While in high school Marcus had a calling to work in the Funeral Business. He began his apprenticeship at Meadows Funeral Chapel in Oglethorpe, GA where he received excellent leadership and training to know wholeheartedly that was his passion. After graduating from high school, he attended (while working at Meadows Mortuary in Atlanta, GA) and graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Decatur, GA class of 2018. He served as an Embalmer and Funeral Director.

Marcus had another passion and that was to become a trucker, as a result, in 2019 he enrolled at South Georgia Technical College in Americus, GA in the Commercial Truck Driving Program (while continuing his employment at Meadows Funeral Chapel) and received his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). In addition, Marcus also completed his Degree in Marketing Management. During his matriculation at South Georgia Technical College, he was an exemplary student. He maintained a grade point average of 3.9. Marcus was on the Dean’s list from the beginning of his career at SGTC until his completion. After receiving his CDL he began driving for Budweiser -Albany, GA moving on to become a driver for Southeastern Sod and later, Woodgrain Millwork Inc. As time went on, he joined his father's trucking business as a driver with Dent & Sons Logistics. In June 2021, he became the very proud owner of his own trucking business M. Dent Logistics, LLC.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Mrs. Rosa Williams and great grandmothers Mrs. Essie Johnson and Mrs. Willie R. Smith, great grandfathers Mr. Irvin Smith and Mr. Joe Johnson. 

Marcus was blessed with a large and loving family. He was very well-mannered, kind and soft-spoken. His amazing life will be forever cherished by his precious daughter whom he loved dearly Lauryn M. Dent of Plains, GA , his devoted mother LaKenya R. Johnson of Americus, G A and father Benjamin Dexter (Tongela) Dent, of Albany, GA. Benjamin Dent of Albany, GA, siblings two brothers; Chadrick Blackshear and Le’Vonte (Tabitha) Dent all of Albany, GA, three sisters; Brittany Blackshear of Albany, GA, Aaliyah Dent of Dallas, TX, and Angel Williams of Atlanta, GA. Uncles and Aunts: Rodney (Sharon) Johnson, Torey (Kenyada) Smith, Starsha Key of Windermere, FL(central). Beverly Dent of Albany, GA. ​Richard Gene Carson, age 54, 317 Drayton Street, Montezuma, Georgia passed Saturday morning at his home.   

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday morning, February 12, 2022 at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Whiteline Street, Montezuma, Georgia.  The Reverend Keith Givens will officiate.

Richard was born April 28, 1967 in Reynolds, Taylor County, Georgia to Joyce Green Carson and the late Henry  Clay Carson.  He acquired his education in the Macon County Public School whereas he obtained his high school education from the historic D.F. Douglass High School. Richard was employed with Purdue of Perry, Georgia for Thirteen years until he retired as a packer.

Emmett Lee Heath, age 87, 971 Brady Road, Americus, Georgia, passed away January 31, 2022, at the Cordele Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cordele, Georgia.

A memorial service will be held virtually at 12:30 P.M., February 7, 2022.    

Emmett was born November 26, 1934 in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia to the late John & Beatrice Phillip. He was reared by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ann Heath. He was preceded in death a brother, John Tomason.  Emmett served in the United States Armed Forces. He was united in holy matrimony to his beloved Pauline Heath.

Willie Powell Jr. was born in Montezuma, Georgia on April 6, 1957 to Mary Etta Drumwright Powell and the late  Willie Powell Sr. He was educated in the public  school system of Macon County. Throughout the years he worked as a construction worker in the Atlanta area. Bo Dilly, as he was known by everyone, loved to dance, listen to music, and just have a good time. His memories will forever dance in the hearts of his family and friends.
 
He leaves to cherish his memories to his mother Mary Etta Powell, Orlando, Florida; three sisters Burnette McDonald (Charlie), Montezuma, Georgia, Elizabeth Drumwright, Orlando, Florida Deloise Clark (Jeffery), Oglethorpe, Georgia, nieces and nephews Anthony Owens, Lenorris Drumwright, Shantavia Powell, Rev. Charles McDonald, Angela McDonald, and Tara Crosby; aunts and uncle Louise Baldwin, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Eddie Will Jones, Marshallville, Georgia, Lena Chandler, Orlando, Florida; a host of other relatives and friends including a devoted friend Sherri Hillman.
