Mrs. Mary Bell Williams Sales, age 83, transitioned on January 29, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, 109 Moody Road, Tazewell, Georgia. Services will be live streamed.

Mrs. Mary Bell Williams Sales was born October 10, 1938 in Schley County to the late Fee Arthur Williams and the late Laura Hartage Williams. She is preceded in death by two children Wayne Sales, Leon Sales, three siblings Margarine Williams Robertson (Carl), Johnny Edward Williams (Emily), Mattie Will Williams Crumbley.  She was educated in the local church school at Cedar Creek Baptist Church.  At an early age she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and joined the band of Christian believers at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Tazewell, where she served as President of the Usher Board for over forty eight years and organized the first of many Usher Anniversaries.  Mary loved traveling, watching daytime soaps, caring for her plants, and spending time with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memories five children Valda Sales Boykin, Atlanta, Georgia, Vermon Sales Jr. (Carolyn), Ellaville, Georgia, Freddie D. Sales, Ellaville, Georgia,  Shirley J. Sales, Americus, Georgia, Marvin E. Sales  (Jacqueline), Buena Vista, Georgia; seven grandchildren Ketorie Sales, Valinda Boykin, Marcus Sales (Felesha), Gary Boykin Jr. (Ciarra), Keon Sales (Jessica), Raven Royal Wilson (Keidrick), and Shayla Royal  Alexis (Jason); seven great grandchildren Trebeon Sales, Alexander Sales, Kayla Sales, Katlynn Sales, Kaden Sales, Kamille Wilson, and Kailyn Wilson; a sister Corine Respess, Ellaville, Georgia; a devoted niece who was like a daughter Marilyn Johnson Aldridge (Roland); a host of nieces, nephews, other  relatives and friends.

Annie Ruth Jackson Thornton, age 82, 135 Frank Powell Road, Buena Vista, Georgia passed January 27, 2022, at Phoebe Sumter Hospital, Americus, Georgia.

Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Zion Road, Buena Vista, Georgia.

Annie was born March 10, 1939 in Marion County, Georgia to the late John T. Jackson and the late Irene Johnson Jackson. She was educated in the Marion County Public School System. She was united in holy matrimony to Kary Thornton Jr. to this union they were blessed with seven children, one daughter preceded her in death Brenda Ramsey and two grandsons Eric Thornton and Sherrod Ramsey. She was a member of Cool Sprint Baptist Church. She retired from Nursing from Magnolia Marion County Nursing Center of Buena Vista, Georgia.

Annie is survived by her husband of 58 years Kary Thornton Jr., Buena Vista, Georgia; six children Kathy Lucas, Ellaville, Georgia, Betty Taylor (Gary), Columbus, Georgia, Gloristeen Pitts, Lisa Thomas, Buena Vista, Georgia, Michael Thornton (Evette) Sarasota, Florida, Rodney Thornton (Kathy), Buena Vista, Georgia;  2 stepchildren: Hattie Thornton & Jessie Thornton, Americus Ga);an adopted god daughter US Army Celeste S. White, Oran, Korea, 34 grandchildren, siblings Johnnie Minter, Buena Vista, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, Sisters-in-law Mae Pearl Green (Gene), Lovie Foster (Eric), Buena Vista Ga, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Hwy 26 W, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.

Minnie Lee Schofield Smith was born to the parentage of the late Mr. Roosevelt Schofield Sr. and the late Mrs. Jannie Williamson Schofield in Macon County, Georgia.  She was educated in the public school system of Macon County whereas she acquired her elementary education from the historic Oglethorpe Grammar School and her high school education from the historic  D.F. Douglass High School.

For thirty five years she was employed with Southern Frozen Food as a line technician. She was a member of Davis Chapel AME Church of Oglethorpe, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Emma Lee Cephus, Luverne Perkins, Leola Mitchell, Willie B. Schofield, and Ciceroe Schofield.

She leaves a legacy of love and many fond memories to her beloved daughters, Sheila Schofield Burnan (Gerald), Jerita Schofield all of Montezuma, Georgia; five grandchildren, Demero Schofield, Sr., Shanikki Schofield both of Montezuma, Georgia, Matthew Schofield, Warner Robins, Georgia, Marita Schofield, Montezuma, Georgia, Alexander Perkins; thirteen great grandchildren, Dequntaez Clayton, Zacharias Schofield, Demero Schofield, Joshua Perkins, Taraji Brown, Omarion Schofield, Kaylee Schofield, Indyia Schofield,  Serenity Brown all of Montezuma, Georgia, Zurielle Schofield, Warner Robins, Georgia, Kenzliee Clayton, Makinlynn Hubbert, Chanel McDonald; six siblings and their spouses, Walter B. (Artie) Schofield, Jacksonville, Florida, Jannie Schofield Beal, Montezuma, Georgia, Roosevelt Schofield, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, Johnny Schofield (Sheila)Reno, NV, and Jerry Schofield, Jacksonville, Florida; sisters-in-law, Helen Schofield, Jacksonville, Florida; and a host of beloved niece nephews, other cousins and friends Earnestine Sanders, Montezuma, Georgia devoted friend.

Edith Mae Martin-Brown

​Funeral services for Edith Mae Martin-Brown will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church, 255 Tom Adams Road, Montezuma, Georgia. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Edith Mae Martin-Brown was born September 29, 1958, in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to the late Addie Mae Whitaker Martin and the late Melvin Martin Sr. She was preceded in death by her brothers Milton and Marion Martin and beloved daughter LaWanda Brown. She joined the band of Christian believers at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church. She was a 1977 graduate of D.F. Douglass High School.

She was a very dedicated and faithful worker for Southern Frozen Foods for 28 years until her health declined. Edith loved spending time with her girls and family, she loved to plant flowers, decorate and sew. On January 16, 2022, God in his infinite wisdom, called Edith to her eternal home where her soul is at rest in the arms of her loving savior, Jesus Christ.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Annie was born September 1, 1945 in Americus, Georgia to the late Blessie Brown, and the late Monroe Jackson Sr. She was also preceded in death by brothers Monroe Jackson Jr., James Jackson and a sister Rosetta Jackson. Annie was educated in the public school system of Sumter County.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her children Bobbie Jackson and Derrick Jackson, grandchildren Amber Jackson, Michael Moore Jr., Joshua Moore and Destiny Jackson, great grandchildren Kayden Jackson, Khylan Jackson and Michael Moore III; nine siblings Curtis (Willa) Jackson Smithville, Georgia, Geraldine Jackson, Robert Jackson, Bell Jackson, Madeline Cooke, Gloria Jackson, Bessie Mae Jackson, and Wallace (Sherlyn) Jackson, all of Americus, Georgia, and Rev. Semmie James Mckenzie was born on November 27, 1948 to the late John Samuel Mckenzie and the late Alice Mae Mckenzie in Montezuma, Georgia. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County and was a graduate of the Historic D.F. Douglas High School. Semmie was a member of Shade Arnold Baptist Church. He was employed over the years as a Forklift driver with Mulcoa.

He leaves to cherish his memories to all of his children Sarah D. Ward of Fairburn, Georgia, Stacy R. Prince (Bobby) of Albany, Georgia, George Q. Ward of Montezuma, Georgia, Ebony P. Smith of Montezuma, Georgia. Semmie J. Cleveland Harris, Jr. was born June 16, 1953, to Gussie Mae Hillmon Harris and the late Cleveland Harris, Sr.  He was self employed as a Tax Commissioner.  Born in a family of seven siblings he was preceded in death by three sibling Frances Harris, Bertha Spencer, and Charlie Lewis Harris.

He is survived by his loving mother and siblings which include: Mrs. Gussie Mae Hillmon Harris, Oglethorpe, Georgia; three siblings, Mattie Taylor (Eddie), Atlanta, Georgia, Cleola Fudge, Albany, Georgia, and LaWestine Harris, Oglethorpe, Georgia; Aunt and uncle, Bessie Tookes (John), Montezuma, Georgia; Niece and nephew, Cornelius Spencer (Chantelle) Locust Grove, Georgia and Robin Spencer, Macon, Georgia; two great nieces and one great nephews; a devoted brother-in-law, Elder Robert Spencer, Macon, Georgia; a devoted cousin, Virginia Hill, Montezuma, Georgia; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Gerome Collier was born November 17, 1965 in Montezuma, Georgia to Mary Louise Hubbard Collier and the late LJ Collier. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County and was a 1983 graduate of the Historic D.F. Douglas High School. At an early age he joined the band of Christian believers at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed with Southern Frozen Food and worked in Construction (Roofing) until his health failed.
 
He leaves his memories to be cherished by his son Gerrod Collier. Two grandchildren Paris Collier and Ayla McCants. His mother Mary Louise Hubbard Collier. Three siblings Ann J. Collier, Warner Robins, Georgia, Chuck L. Hill (Erica), Leonard J. Hubbard Sr., Montezuma, Georgia; aunts/uncles Jett Hubert (Barbara), Columbus, Ohio, Annie L. Thomas, Vera Solomon, Myra Oliver, Hattie Hubbard, Barbara Clark, Pearl Freeman, Willie Collier (Annie Neal) all of Montezuma, Georgia. Mildred Marie Bass-Smith, resided at 201 Branch View Ct. Perry, Ga, and passed away at age sixty (60) on December 31, 2021.

Mildred was born April 21, 1961, in Perry, Houston County, Georgia, to the late Autman Bass and the late Ellen Thorpe Bass. She is preceded in death by siblings: Edgar Bass, JoAlice Bass Wilford, Hermen Bass, and Larry Bass, Sr. She acquired her education in the Houston County Public School System.

Mildred accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the young age of 14. She was a member of Dabar Ministries for over 26 years and faithfully served under the leadership of Pastor Conswella Drummond. She supported the ministry by serving as an usher, hospitality team member, and trustee board member. Her desire to love and serve her Lord was apparent to all who knew her.

Two hearts became one when Mildred married the love of her life Humphrey Smith Sr., and to this beautiful union, three children were born. One son Stephan Smith preceded her in death. Mildred was a homemaker who loved her family deeply. She was a culinarian and worked for local restaurants and a daycare center in Houston County.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband for 40 years, Humphrey Smith Sr., Perry, Georgia; two children Humphrey Smith Jr. (Taquanta), Warner Robins, Georgia, Brian Smith, (Beatrice Martley-Fiancé) Perry, Georgia; a host of grandchildren Tashunta Smith, Zoey Smith, Micah Smith, Aiden Smith, Jaden Smith, Dequavion Latimore, Davionna Latimore, Daveon Latimore, Ta’Nada Richardson, and Torsheeka Allen. Siblings: Carrie Joe  Bass (Fay), Fayetteville, NC, Betty J. Bass Primus (Henry), Vero Beach, FL, Terry Bass, Perry GA, and Johnny Bass, Perry, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, Dabar Ministries church family, and friends.
