Bennie Rose Folkes, age 67, of Montezuma, Georgia passed Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Montezuma Healthcare and Rehabiliation Center, Montezuma, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at First Salem Baptist Church, Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.  Reverend Coley Clark, Jr., pastor of Zion Grove Baptist Church, will officiate.  Interment will follow in Champ Waters Cemetery, Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.
 
Bennie Rose Folkes was born September 24, 1947 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to Elizabeth “Betty” Williams and the late William Folkes, Sr. One brother, Harold Loftly, and one half brother, Jimmy Lee Folkes, preceded her in death.  She was educated in the public school system of Macon County.  Bennie Rose received her Christian training in the local churches.  She was a 1965 graduate of D. F. Douglass High School.  After completion of high school, she moved to Newark, New Jersey where she obtained a degree in office management.  While living in New Jersey, she was employed with various companies.
 
In 2000, she returned back to her native land, Georgia where she lived until her demise.
 
Bennie Rose Folkes leaves to cherish her memories: her beloved mother, Elizabeth Williams, Montezuma, Georgia; her siblings, Hobbie Fletcher, (Thomasine), Newark, New Jersey, Curtis Williams, Irvington, New Jersey, Marvin Williams (Kathleen), Irvington, New Jersey, Patricia Paramore (Gregory), Newark, New Jersey, Shirley Pizarro (Joel), Plainsfield, New Jersey, Jerry Williams (Lillie), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Brenda Warren (Henderson), Montezuma, Georgia, and Joan Agee, Birmingham, Alabama (whom she reared as her daughter); her half brothers/half sisters, William Folkes, Jr. (Sandra), Doris Mae Folkes, and Lorina Delores Folkes, all of Charleston, South Carolina; a host of nieces and nephews, including two devoted, Shirley and Christopher; a host of other relatives and friends, including several devoted friends, Doris Kelley, Perry, Georgia, Carrie Rackley, Bernice Collier, both of Montezuma, Georgia, and Montezuma Healthcare and Rehabilitation Staff.

Stacey Denise McDonald Walton, age 50, passed  Saturday, January 24, 2015.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 31, 2015 at New Hope Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia, where Reverend Allen Waters is pastor. Reverend Charles McDonald will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Hope Church Cemetery.

Stacey Denise McDonald Walton was born January 4, 1965 in Macon County, Georgia to Minnie King McDonald and the late Johnny C. McDonald.  She received her education in the public school system of Macon County.  Stacey was a 1983 graduate of Macon County High School, Montezuma, Georgia.  At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior.  She joined the band of Christian Believers at New Hope Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Hayes. She devoted 20 years as a Supervisor over Transportation at Middle Flint Behavior Healthcare in Americus, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny C. McDonald, and sister, Minnie P. McDonald-Howard.  Stacey was a loving and caring person always willing to help anyone she could. She leaves a legacy of memories and love to her family and  friends.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie Walton; one loving son, Davarian McDonald (Ireeka); two daughters, Kenyatta Walton and Madison Walton; one grandson Jayden McDonald; one god-son, Ja’Quaylen Daniel; a loving and devoted  mother, Minnie McDonald, Oglethorpe, Georgia; two sisters, Shirley Smith of Lithonia, Georgia and Ruthie Fowler of Forest Park, Georgia; one brother, Johnny McDonald (Tiwanda), East Point, Georgia; a special friend, Charlie Griffin, III; a special loving and devoted aunt, Jannie McDonald; other aunts and uncles, Geraldine McDonald, Joyce McDonald, Louise Taylor, Earnestine Howard (Eddie Joe), Ernest McDonald (Onita), Mary Jane Tookes, J. W. Daniel (Elizabeth), and Eddie C. Thornton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Melton, Willie Walton (Delois), James Walton, Kelvin Walton and Willie Joe Howard; devoted niece and nephews include, Calandra Johnson, Martez Howard and MarChaffin McDonald; a loving and devoted cousin, Cynthia Howard-Gilbert; and a host of  other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends,  including devoted friend,  Monica Pope.

Deacon Eddie James Berryhill, Sr., age 60, of Americus, Georgia passed on Sunday, January 25, 2015.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 31, 2015 at St. John Baptist Church,  224 East Allen Street, Leslie, Georgia. The Reverend George Edge, pastor of Restoration Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 118, Leslie, Georgia.  Public viewing will be held at the church an hour before service only.  

Deacon Berryhill was born July 6, 1954 in Sumter County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Eddie Will Berryhill and Martha Ford Berryhill.  He was a 1973 graduate of Union High School of Leslie, Georgia.  In 1974, he acquired his Auto Mechanic Degree from South Georgia Technical College. He was employed  with Citizen Telephone Company of Leslie, Georgia as a Cable Splicer since November 8, 1976.
 
At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the band of Christian believers at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend Ulysses Brown. Eddie was later ordained as a Deacon.  In 2010, he joined the Prevailing Word Ministry, under the leadership of Minister Marian Robinson, where he continued to serve on the Deacon Board Ministry.
 
Deacon Berryhill was married to Cheryl Kearse Berryhill  for twenty-six years, and to this union they were blessed with three children, ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
 
He leaves a legacy of loved and cherished memories to his beloved family, including the following: three children and their spouses, Vincent (Lakeisha) Kearse, Americus, Georgia, Tomeka (Craig) Sutton,  McDonough, Georgia, and Eddie James Berryhill, Jr., Houston, Texas; ten grandchildren, Deangelo Kearse, Denisha Kearse, Kabren Kearse, Breyanna Kearse, Shaquaja Washington, Aaron Kearse, Vincent Kearse, Jr., Stephen Kearse, TreMond Kearse and Cayden Sutton; three great grandchildren, Deangelo Kearse, Jr., Kiyren King-Kearse and De’Aron Dowdell; five siblings, Mary Lena Wright, Atlanta, Georgia, Eddie (Edna) Berryhill, and Joyce Henderson, all of Tampa, Florida, Janelle Berryhill-Bobbitt, Cordele, Georgia, and Rosalyn Berryhill, Albany, Georgia; a special friend, Willa Watts, Atlanta, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces and nephews, including one devoted niece, Charlotte Dobbs; a host of devoted friends, including Deacon Arthur Holloway, Deacon Johnny Mathis and Deacon Willie Wilson.

Mrs. Irene Thomas Walker, age 97, passed Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Montezuma Health & Rehabilitation Center, 506 Sumter Street, Montezuma, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church, Railroad Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.  Elder Robert Taylor will officiate. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery, Grangerville Community, Ideal, Macon County, Georgia.
 
It was the beginning of a great new year for Irene’s parents, Mr. Norman Gaines and Mrs. Jeffie Turner  Gaines when they welcome her into the world  on January 1, 1918 in Macon County, Georgia.  Irene grew   up in Ideal and was educated in the public school system of Macon County, Georgia.
 
She was married to the late Clinton Rogers and to this union a son, Pvt. Milton Rogers was born. Both Clinton Rogers and Milton Rogers preceded her in death.  She also was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Mildred and Diane.  Later in life, Irene was joined in Holy matrimony to the late John Henry Walker and through this union, she became stepmother to thirteen grandchildren. Irene’s siblings preceded her in death.
 
Irene, lovingly called “Punch”, lived in Macon County her entire lifetime and was well known throughout the Payne Bottom Community, Ideal and Oglethorpe, Georgia.  She worked at the former Southern Frozen Foods, Inc. in the fresh produce area and the repack center (Gold King) until her retirement.
 
She was a member of the former, Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Macon County, Georgia.  She faithfully served there before health failed in 2005.  At which time, she became a resident of the Montezuma Health and Rehablitation Center in Montezuma, Georgia.
 
Survivors include her granddaughter, Pamela Irene Rogers of Jacksonville, Florida; grandsons, Milton and Rogers and Alonzo Dewayne Rogers, Jacksonville, Florida; Great Grandchildren, Cedric Rogers (Kenya), Annette Rogers, Sandra Simpson, Antonio Rogers, Samuel Simpson and Ebony Fulton.  Other survivors include her eleven stepchildren, Ruby Nell Hart, Atlanta, Georgia, Brenda W. King (Eugene), Ellaville, Georgia, Mattie W. Hadley, Montezuma, Georgia, Fannie W. Brown (William), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Gladys W. Calloway, Oglethorpe, Georgia,, Elizabeth W. Murray (Rickey), Decatur, Georgia, Lavolia W. Hayes, Albany, Georgia, Eddie Walker (Verna), Marshallville, Georgia, Gloria W. Lumpkin (Willie), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Doris W. Pugh (Indavis), Montgomery, Alabama and Charles H. Walker (Anna), Oglethorpe, Georgia two nephews, Ernest Howard, Colorado and Gregory Howard of Hawaii, a host of step grandchildren, numerous step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren and a host of cousins, including three devoted cousins, Mrs. Dora Mae Turner, Iona Gaines Mitchell and Louise Gaines Pettway.; other relatives and friends.

Carolyn Blue Alridge, age 63, 138 Mt. Zion Road, Ellaville, Georgia passed away Monday, January 19, 2015.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Union Hill A.M.E. Church, Spivey Street, Ellaville, Georgia. Minister Harriet Peeples will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.

Carolyn was born February 14, 1951 in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia to the late Wade Blue and Lucy Aldridge Blue.  She was preceded in death by three siblings, Erma Davis, Morris Blue, and Vernida Blue Edward.

Carolyn was a member of Union Hill A.M.E. Church; she was a 1969 graduate of John Lewis High School, where she played with the John Lewis High School Ladies Basketball. After many years of dedicated service, she retired from Manhattan Shirt and Cooper Lighting.  

Carolyn was married to Michael Alridge Jr. To this union, three children were born. Carolyn is survived by her three children, Pamela Alridge, Ellaville, Georgia, Michael Alridge (Suzette), Houston, Texas, and Shannon Alridge, Ellaville, Georgia; two grandchildren, Jaise Alridge and Tyler Alridge; siblings, Myrtis Blue Coggins (Irvin), Clinton Maryland; Curtis Blue, Ellaville, Georgia; brothers-in–law, Judson Alridge, Buena Vista, Georgia, Susan Gardner (Joseph), Buena Vista, Georgia, Linda Dawson, Warner Robins, Georgia, and Gail Alridge, Buena Vista, Georgia; aunt, Lillie Jean Peeples, Atlanta, Georgia; a host of loving cousins, including devoted cousin, Joan Perkins, Ellaville, Georgia, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mrs. Izora Peterson Hall, age 75, of Smithville, Georgia passed Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Center, Americus, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Zion Hope Baptist Church, Highway 19 South, Sumter City, Georgia.  The Reverend George Frank Monts, pastor, will officiate.  Interment will follow in Green Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Smithville, Georgia.
 
Mrs. Izora Peterson Hall was born November 9, 1939 in Randolph County, Georgia to the late Evans Peterson, Sr. and Mattie Lee Cotton Peterson.  She was preceded in death by five siblings, Ishmon Peterson, Johnnie Bell Adams, Lucious Peterson, King Peterson and Joseph Peterson.
 
She was educated in the public school system of Lee County, Georgia.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the band of Christian Believers at Jerusalem Grove Baptist Church of Smithville, Georgia.  She later moved her membership to Zion Hope Baptist Church of Sumter City, Georgia.   Mrs. Izora was a faithful choir member.  After many dedicated years of service, she retired as a homemaker.
 
She was united in Holy matrimony to the late Cecil Hall.  To this union, they were blessed with three children, Daisy Hall Raven (Chris), Americus, Georgia, Annette Hall, Smithville, Georgia and Arthur Hall (Sandra), Americus, Georgia.  To cherish her memory, she leaves a beloved godson, Torrence Burney, Smithville, Georgia.  She was blessed to be the grandmother of four grandchildren, Jennifer Angry, Linda Hall, Desmond Hall and Trinity Hall. Her God Granddaughter, Kirsten Burney, Smithville, Georgia.  She was the great grandmother of seven great grandchildren, Daja, Darian, Chandler, Anthony, Shonerick, Brodrick and Crissy; four siblings, Annie Lloyd Jones, Columbus, Georgia, Evans Peterson, Jr. (Laura), Macon, Georgia, Orrie Lee Peterson and Willie B. Shawna was born August 31, 1966 to Linda Simpson and James Chastine in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia. One brother, Rodney Kendrick, preceded her in death.  She attended the historic D.F. Douglass High School and was a graduate of Macon County High School.  She was employed with Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store of Oglethorpe, Georgia as a cashier for 22 dedicated years.
 
Left to cherish her memory are two loving children, Devin Mathis and Torrie Mathis; her mother, Linda Simpson (Miles), Montezuma, Georgia; her father, James Chastine, Savannah, Georgia; siblings, Valerie Kendrick (Charles), Montezuma, Georgia, Carletta Duncan,  Kawanda Duncan, and Eric Chastine; grandmother, Bessie Standifer, Montezuma, Georgia; aunts, Beverly Bass (Elijah),  Austell, Georgia, Rosa Chastine and Vernell Chastine, both of Perry, Georgia, Landis Chastine, Atlanta, Georgia,  and  Annie Faye Chastine, New Jersey; uncles, Alvin Standifer and Ronnie Standifer  both of Montezuma, Georgia, Jerry Chastine and J.C. Henry L. Dice, age 83, 114-A Muckalee Court, Americus, Georgia passed Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center, 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Perry Grove Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 280, Leslie, Georgia.  Rev. David Hamm will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Ashby Street, Americus, Georgia.
 
Henry was born March 3, 1931 to the late Frances Dowdell Dice and Jimmy Lee Dice in Sumter County, Georgia.  He was married to the former Bertha Mae Angry on June 13, 1953.   To this union, they were blessed with eight children. Two children, Henry Lee Dice, Jr. and Tracy Denise Dice, preceded him in death. Henry was also preceded in death by five siblings, Willie Dice, Sarah McGarrah, Jewel Reese, J. C. Dice and Katie Floyd. He acquired his education from the public school system of Sumter County, where he attended the historic Southeast Elementary.  At an early age, he joined Perry Grove Baptist Church.  He was a faithful and dedicated member.
 
After many dedicated years of service, he retired from W. N. Clark Farm as a Vegetable Farmer in 1990.  He was known for his gardening.  Many friends and family enjoyed his bountiful fresh fruits and vegetables.
 
Survivors are a beloved wife of 62 years, Bertha Mae Angry Dice; six children, Johnny Dice (Agnes Tucker), James Dice (Connie Johnson), Michael Dice (Eddie Jean), Barbara Burts (Clarence), all of Americus, Georgia, Teresa Dice (fiance, Darion Johnson), Richland, Georgia, and Brenda Dice, Americus, Georgia; 21 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; two siblings, Bobbie Lee Player and John L. Dice, both of Miami, Florida; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Clemmie Williams, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Virgil Raines, Brunswick, Alabama, Hennie Coleman, Albany, Georgia, Clifford Walton, Americus, Georgia, Arthur Raines, and Sonny Franklin, both of Desoto, Georgia, Ben Walton, Columbus, Georgia, and Alice Yearby, Americus, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including three devoted friends, Ronald Thomas, Paul Hendley, and Willie Frank Campbell.

Nazarene Vernell (Nell) Hill Nash, age 57, of Hyattsville, Maryland passed on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at  the Northside Hospital of Atlanta, Georgia.

A wake service will be held on January 16, 2015 from 6:00-7:00 P.M. at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Church Street, Andersonville, Georgia. Interment will follow at Davis Chapel Cemetery, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Nazarene was born January 19, 1957 in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia, to the late Willie Edward Hill and Annie Bell Cephus Hill. She was preceded in death by two siblings: Essie Jean Mathis and William Edward “Billy” Hill.

Nazarene was a 1976 graduate of Union High school of Leslie, Georgia. She moved to Washington D.C. after the completion of high school.  She received several certificates from various Technical Colleges & Universities.  She worked for the federal government as a secretary and retired  with FedEx Corporate Office as an Executive  Secretary.

Nazarene joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Andersonville, Georgia, under the leadership of Reverend Allen. She was joined in Holy matrimony to Rinaldo Nash, and their union welcomed two children.

Survivors are her two beloved children, Kimberly Nash, Hyattsville, Maryland and Robert Nash, Laurel, Maryland; two grandchildren, Anaya Booker and Zanique Booker; six siblings, Shirley A. Carter, Montezuma, Georgia, Nannette Hill, Betty Fulks, and Rose Mary Fulks (Horace), all of Andersonville, Georgia, Elaine Hill, and Calandra D. Hill, both of Jonesboro, Georgia; aunts and uncles, Bertha Terry (Milton), Andersonville, Georgia, Loren Hill (Janice) Beaver, Pennsylvania, Emma Lee Cephus, Montezuma, Georgia, Josephine Cooper, Americus, Georgia, and Cooper Clemons, Andersonville, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, including her godchildren, Monique McCray and Marquies McCray, and friends.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday morning, January 13, 2015 at the Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church, Railroad Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.  The Reverend Alfred Wynn will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Whiteline Street, Montezuma, Georgia.
 
Gwendolyn was born September 5, 1947 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to the late Hayes Rackley and Louise Oliver.  The late Martha Oglesby reared her.  One brother, James Rackley, preceded her in death. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County, Georgia where she attended the historic Macon County Training School of Montezuma, Georgia.    She was united in holy matrimony to the late Elder Eddie Swift, Jr. on the 12th day of July, 1990. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and the Glorious Hope Baptist Church of Marshallville, Georgia and after becoming the wife of the late Elder Eddie Swift, Jr. she moved her membership to Galilee Primitive Baptist Church of  Perry, Georgia. 
 
She leaves to mourn her passing a beloved son, Dwayne Long, Montezuma, Georgia; devoted cousin, Emma  Forbes, Oglethorpe, Georgia; a goddaughter, Alisha Shelley, Montezuma, Georgia; other relatives include, Pebbles Baldwin, Ideal, Georgia, Sarah Baldwin, Montezuma, Georgia, Constance Baldwin, Montezuma, Georgia, Cheryl Tharp, Americus, Georgia, Ramell Baldwin (Hollie)  Albany, Georgia, Malissa Baldwin, Montezuma, Georgia and LaSonya Larry, Oglethorpe, Georgia.  Her extended family includes the staff and doctors of the Montezuma Health Care Center.
