The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Friday, April 26, 2013 at Travelers Home Baptist Church, Travelers Home Church Road, Ideal, Macon County, Georgia, where Rev. Carl Munns is pastor. Rev. Alfred Wynn, pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.
Wendlon Nichols was born January 16, 1934 to the late Mary Ellen Ross Seals and the late Frazier Nichols, Sr. in Pelham, Mitchell County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by six siblings: Sidney Hope, Albert Keaton, Williams Nelson, George Seals, Robert Seals, and Henry Seals.
He was educated in the public school system of Mitchell County and acquired his Christian training in local churches. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged October 25, 1957 as a Specialist 3rd Class Soldier. He retired in 1992 from CE Mineral Mulcoa, after 25 dedicated years of service.
He was united in holy matrimony to the late Willie Maude Kleckley Nichols. To this union, they were blessed with six children.
Survivors include his children, Verlene Broxton (Eugene), Fort Valley, Georgia, Aubrey Tookes (Susan), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Steven Nichols (Shawana), Montezuma, Georgia, Tawana McCants (Antonio), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Lorenza Nichols, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Deneen Manning (Robert), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Jarvis Nichols (Crystal), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Georgetta Smith (Earman), Camilla, Georgia, Dr. Quentin Nichols (Deidra), Atlanta, Georgia, LaNorris Nichols (Sheila), Plainsfield, New Jersey, and Elder Wendlon Nichols, Jr. (Lana), Fayetteville, North Carolina; 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, siblings, Willie Seals, Atlanta, Georgia, James Bryant, Atlanta, Georgia, Jerry Seals, Plainsfield, New Jersey, Co-Pastor Julia Parker (Pastor Walter Parker), Plainsfield, New Jersey, Grace Ferguson (James), Plainsfield, New Jersey, Silva Knight, Plainsfield, New Jersey, and Grovenia Parker, Jacksonville, Florida; sister-in-law, Nellie Kate Collins, Oglethorpe, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, including his Montezuma Health and Rehabilitation Family.
