Mr. Wendlon Nichols, age 79, Pine Grove Trailer Park, Lot #12, Oglethorpe, Georgia passed Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Flint River Community Hospital, 509 Sumter Street, Montezuma, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Friday, April 26, 2013 at Travelers Home Baptist Church, Travelers Home Church Road, Ideal, Macon County, Georgia, where Rev. Carl Munns is pastor. Rev. Alfred Wynn, pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.

Wendlon Nichols was born January 16, 1934 to the late Mary Ellen Ross Seals and the late Frazier Nichols, Sr. in Pelham, Mitchell County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by six siblings: Sidney Hope, Albert Keaton, Williams Nelson, George Seals, Robert Seals, and Henry Seals.

He was educated in the public school system of Mitchell County and acquired his Christian training in local churches. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged October 25, 1957 as a Specialist 3rd Class Soldier. He retired in 1992 from CE Mineral Mulcoa, after 25 dedicated years of service.

He was united in holy matrimony to the late Willie Maude Kleckley Nichols. To this union, they were blessed with six children.

Survivors include his children, Verlene Broxton (Eugene), Fort Valley, Georgia, Aubrey Tookes (Susan), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Steven Nichols (Shawana), Montezuma, Georgia, Tawana McCants (Antonio), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Lorenza Nichols, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Deneen Manning (Robert), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Jarvis Nichols (Crystal), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Georgetta Smith (Earman), Camilla, Georgia, Dr. Quentin Nichols (Deidra), Atlanta, Georgia, LaNorris Nichols (Sheila), Plainsfield, New Jersey, and Elder Wendlon Nichols, Jr. (Lana), Fayetteville, North Carolina; 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, siblings, Willie Seals, Atlanta, Georgia, James Bryant, Atlanta, Georgia, Jerry Seals, Plainsfield, New Jersey, Co-Pastor Julia Parker (Pastor Walter Parker), Plainsfield, New Jersey, Grace Ferguson (James), Plainsfield, New Jersey, Silva Knight, Plainsfield, New Jersey, and Grovenia Parker, Jacksonville, Florida; sister-in-law, Nellie Kate Collins, Oglethorpe, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, including his Montezuma Health and Rehabilitation Family.

Robert W. Daniels, Jr., age 51, 4050 Morgan Road, Union City, Georgia passed Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Hospice Atlanta, 1244 Park Vista Drive, Atlanta, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Felton Chapel Church, 189 Hawk Circle, Oglethorpe, Georgia, where Reverend Keith Gibbons is pastor. The Reverend Coley Clark, Jr., pastor of Zion Grove Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.

Mr. Daniels was born March 31, 1962 to Maxine Hill Daniels and Robert W. Daniels, Sr. in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia. He acquired his education in the public school system of Atlanta, Georgia. He retired as a small truck driver with the Senior Citizens Meal on Wheels program, after his health began to decline.

He is survived by his loving parents, Mrs. Maxine Daniels, Union City, Georgia and Mr. Robert W. Daniels, Sr., Atlanta, Georgia; his siblings Belinda Harris (Rodney), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Demetrius Brown (Tomeka), Atlanta, Georgia, Denise Parks, Reynolds, Georgia, Kitrious Biddle, Fort Valley, Georgia, Tia Woodard (Corey), Douglasville, Georgia, and Teneka Daniels, Smyrna, Georgia; godsister, Lisa Evans; aunts and uncles, Robert Lee Hill (Annie), Talmadge Hill, Bobby McCrary (Earnest), Elizabeth Hill (J.W.), Shirley Lockhart all of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Camilla Dent, Curtis Troutman (Sherrie), all of Reynolds, Georgia, Henry Searcy (Penny), Butler, Georgia, Albert Daniels, Perry, Georgia, Carrie Hardy, Anne Thornton (Homer), Clara Miller (Milton), all of College Park, Georgia Charles Daniels (Beatrice), Wilmeral Edwards (Huely), all of Decatur, Georgia, Bobby Daniels, Arthur Searcy (Suzanne), and Matilda Joiner, all of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces, and nephews; a host of loving cousins and beloved friends, including three devoted, Charlie “Skirt” Carson, Rodney, and Blue.

Freddy Jerome Mallard, age 78, 713 Lewis St., Montezuma, Georgia passed Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Flint River Community Hospital, Montezuma, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Magnolia Baptist Church, 415 Hosie Waters Street, Montezuma, Georgia.  Interment will follow in Champ Waters Cemetery, 191 Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.

Freddy was born April 30, 1934 in Ideal, Macon County, Georgia to the late Bessie Clara Lloyd Mallard and Clovis Mallard. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Shirley Lloyd and Samuel Lloyd. He also was preceded in death by one aunt and one uncle, Rosie Lee Hall Taylor and Aaron Lloyd.  He acquired his education in the public school system of Macon County whereas he was a 1954 graduate of the old historic Macon County High Training School. He was a dynamic basketball player during his high school years. After 30 dedicated years of service, he retired from the Montezuma Police Department.

He was united in holy matrimony to Carolyn Jolly McKenzie Mallard. To this union, they were blessed with two children.  He was a member and deacon of Magnolia Baptist Church. His community affiliations include: Macon County Chapter NAACP, Men Booster Club and a member of Herman Masonic Lodge #51 F&AM.

He leaves to cherish his memories a beloved wife of 50 years Carolyn Mallard, Montezuma, Georgia; children, Gloria Mitchell, Montezuma, Georgia and LaNorris Jolly (Barbara), Warner Robins, Georgia; three grandchildren, Quinton J. Mitchell, Samaria D. Mitchell and Dana L. Mitchell, one great grandchild, Zaiden A. Canady; two sisters, Liza Sanders (Thomas), Montezuma, Georgia and Elsie Martin, Warner Robins, Georgia; his beloved aunt, Dorothy Beal, Montezuma, Georgia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mable Picken McKenzie, Sacramento, California, Muriel Harris (Willie James), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Betty Jean Clark, Jacqueline Clark, Manuel Clark, Constance Baldwin and Dan B. Albert Richard McCants, age 66, a native and citizen of Oglethorpe, Georgia passed Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Montezuma Health and Rehabilitation Center, 521 Sumter Street, Montezuma, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 12, 2013 at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Inc.  Interment will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery, Travelers Home Road, Ideal, Georgia.

Albert Richard McCants was born July 20, 1947 to the late Charlie McCants, Sr. and Eula Mae Dice McCants. He was preceded in death by six siblings, Charlie McCants, Jr., Willie McCants, Eddie McCants, Reverend Curtis McCants, Jeffery “Gary” McCants and Zettie Davis. He was also preceded in death by his devoted aunts and uncle, Mary Annie Stewart, Beulah Humphries, Catherine and Thomas Ford. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County.

Survivors are two sons, Ricky Town (Stacy), Americus, Georgia and Patrick Town (Angie), Baltimore, Maryland; three grandchildren, Destiny, Kala and Dominique; six siblings, Ocie Lee Ivory, Bessie Lee Raines, J. W. McCants (Margaret), Ida Pearl McCants, Aaron McCants (Karen) and Cynthia Banks all of Oglethorpe, Georgia; sister-in-law, Mary McCants, Oglethorpe, Georgia; one uncle, C. T. Ford, Oglethorpe, Georgia; devoted cousin, Ida Mae Tookes, Atlanta, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces and nephews including one devoted, Jhai’Tarriance Banks; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Annie Jean Sims Byse, age 64, 341 Byse Avenue, Ideal, Georgia passed Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Faith Memorial C.M.E. Church, Brooks Road, Ideal, Georgia.  Interment will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery, Brooks Mill Road, Rupert, Macon County, Georgia

Annie Jean was born April 12, 1948 in Ellaville Schley County, Georgia to Annie Myrtice Fulks Sims and the late Henry Lee Sims, Sr. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Vincent Sims and Henry Sims, Jr. She was a 1966 graduate of John Lewis High School of Ellaville, Georgia. In 1967 she was united in holy matrimony to Monroe Byse, Sr. She was blessed to be the mother of three children and six stepchildren. One son, Melvin Byse, and two grandchildren preceded her in death. She was employed with Montezuma Health and Rehabilitation Center as a dietary aid for twenty years.

She leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to her beloved husband of forty-six years, Monroe Byse, Sr., Ideal, Georgia; two sons and their spouses, Alvin Sims (Beverly), Ft. Betty Adams, age 66, passed Friday, April 5, 2013 at Piedmont Hospital, 168 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. John Baptist Church, Allen Street, Leslie, Georgia, where Reverend Calvin James is pastor. The Reverend Jessie Watt, pastor of New Zion Baptist Church, Cobb, Georgia, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Allen Street, Leslie, Georgia.

Mrs. Betty High Adams was born April 11, 1946 in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia to the late Jim High and Mary Lee Everette High. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Jim High, Jr. (1948), Robert High (1964) and Deann High Anthony (1999). She was also preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Robert Everette and Lucy Mae Adams Everette.

She was educated in the public school system of Sumter County where she acquired her GED.  She was married to Willie B. Pace in 1973 and to this union they were blessed with one child. She was blessed to be the mother of five children, one preceded her in death, Mary Ann High (1965).

Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the Jackson Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend D. C. Champion. She served faithfully on the Usher Board Ministry.

She was employed with Steven Industrial of Leslie, Georgia for several years and later it was purchase by Cargil, Inc., Dawson, Georgia.

She leaves a legacy of golden memories to her beloved children and their spouses, Tommy Lee High (Sharon), Columbia, South Carolina, Roy Antonio High (Renee), Americus, Georgia, Kelly High Ford (Mark), McDonough, Georgia, and Tyris Kelvin High (Tonya), Albany, Georgia; eleven grandchildren, Antwjun Waters, Tommy Lee High, Jr., FeRoyre High, Sr., Darius Thomas, Kallafia High, Denisia Thomas, Tanika High, Juwan High, Trey High, Tyria High, Danielle Heath, including a devoted grandchild, Destiny Allen; one great grandchild, FeRoyre High, Jr.; six siblings and their spouses, Pearlie Deriso, Americus, Georgia, Willie High, Jr. (Young), Jacksonville, Florida, Benny L. Thomas “Boone” Royal, Sr., age 48, Third St., Buena Vista, Georgia passed Monday, April 1, 2013 at C.J.W. Medical Center, Chippenham Campus, Richmond, Virginia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Monday, April 8, 2013 at Josh Gibson Community Center, 114 Rogers Street, Buena Vista, Georgia. Reverend Andrea Mathis, Pastor of Hall Chapel C.M.E. Church, Buena Vista, Georgia, will officiate. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery, Pineville Road, Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia.

Thomas was born August 5, 1964 to the late James Royal and Josephine Cottle Royal. He was educated in the public school system of Marion County School system whereas he was a 1983 graduate of Tri-County High School. His work ethics began at an early age. He was great with his hands. He was employed with Murray’s Landscaping for many years until his health began to decline.
