A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, 1908 Dozier Road, Ellaville, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Bernice was born on September 19, 1937, to the parentage of the beloved late JB and Mae Ola Terry in Ellaville, GA.
Bernice attended the Spring Hill School in Schley County. She was known for her determination, hard work ethic, sassy dressing and for never meeting a stranger. She could talk to anybody. She was an avid student of God’s word and was also known for her ability to write poems and rhymes.
She served God with all of her heart and was member Spring Hill A.M.E. Church, until she later joined United Holiness Church under the leadership of Overseer Aaron Snipes, Sr. She served faithfully at Fourth United Holiness Church of Ellaville where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Teacher, Door Keeper and Praise & Worship Leader. She also enjoyed attending Tabernacle of Faith Church under Bishop EJ Lundy.
She was married to her late husband, Mr. Robert Edwards who preceded her in death.
Bernice leaves to cherish her loving memory: 7 Children James A. Haynes, Jr. (Kathy) Fort Mitchell, AL; Linda H. Johnson Ellaville, GA; Gloria A. Josey Americus, GA; Catherine Howard (Gerald) Virginia Beach, VA; Christine Solomon (Barry) Lilburn, GA; Rodney Haynes, Sr. (Andrea) East Point, GA; Rickey Haynes (Melinda) Ellaville, GA; one son preceded her in death, Moses Haynes. She also adopted Bishop Arthur Fulton and Elder Ellen Battle as her spiritual children. Three surviving sisters: Bertha Slaton, Atlanta GA; Earlene Redfield, Springfield MA; Mozelle Manor, Decatur GA. She leaves to cherish her memory 19 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other close relatives and friends.
