Bernice Edwards, age 84, passed on July 22, 2022.
 
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, 1908 Dozier Road, Ellaville, Georgia.
 
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Bernice was born on September 19, 1937, to the parentage of the beloved late JB and Mae Ola Terry in Ellaville, GA. 
 
Bernice attended the Spring Hill School in Schley County. She was known for her determination, hard work ethic, sassy dressing and for never meeting a stranger. She could talk to anybody. She was an avid student of God’s word and was also known for her ability to write poems and rhymes.
 
She served God with all of her heart and was member Spring Hill A.M.E. Church, until she later joined United Holiness Church under the leadership of Overseer Aaron Snipes, Sr. She served faithfully at Fourth United Holiness Church of Ellaville where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Teacher, Door Keeper and Praise & Worship Leader. She also enjoyed attending Tabernacle of Faith Church under Bishop EJ Lundy.
 
She was married to her late husband, Mr. Robert Edwards who preceded her in death.
 
Bernice leaves to cherish her loving memory: 7 Children James A. Haynes, Jr. (Kathy) Fort Mitchell, AL; Linda H. Johnson Ellaville, GA; Gloria A. Josey Americus, GA; Catherine Howard (Gerald) Virginia Beach, VA; Christine Solomon (Barry) Lilburn, GA; Rodney Haynes, Sr. (Andrea) East Point, GA; Rickey Haynes (Melinda) Ellaville, GA; one son preceded her in death, Moses Haynes. She also adopted Bishop Arthur Fulton and Elder Ellen Battle as her spiritual children. Three surviving sisters: Bertha Slaton, Atlanta GA; Earlene Redfield, Springfield MA; Mozelle Manor, Decatur GA. She leaves to cherish her memory 19 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other close relatives and friends.

Mrs. Mozelle McBride-Ramsey, age 60, passed Thursday, July 14, 2022.

The funeral service for the late Mrs. Mozelle McBride-Ramsey will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 110 South McDuffie Street, Buena Vista, Georgia. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery, 30 Providence Church Road, Buena Vista, Georgia.

Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Mrs. Mozelle McBride-Ramsey was born in Buena Vista, Marion County Georgia to the late George McBride and Mary Lee Person-McBride along with four siblings; Letha Mae Person-Gilder, Ralph Jenkins, Helen McBride-Prather, and a baby boy who died at birth. She was preceded in death by her 4 siblings and her loving parents.
 
She was educated in the public school system of Marion County, Georgia where she was a 1979 graduate of Tri-County High School.
 
She was united in holy matrimony on March 27, 1981, to Jerome Ramsey and to their union produced five children. Mozelle was a homemaker and 60 years of age when she passed on July 14, 2022.
 
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was an active member of New Life Christian Ministries (Pastor Jacob Franklin) where she served on the usher board and the hospitality committee. Despite her being a woman of few words, she lived by and often quoted: Psalm 51 Verse 10 (KJV): Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

She leaves behind her husband of 41 years; Jerome Ramsey and her five devoted children: Denise Ramsey (Columbus, GA), Michael Ramsey (Columbus, GA), Jessica Ramsey (Buena Vista, GA), Chardonnay Ramsey (Buena Vista, GA) and Lorenzo Ramsey (Buena Vista, GA); one devoted niece she reared as her own Rosana Prather-King (Columbus, GA), and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, in-laws, and friends.

Freddie Cecil Williams, age 68, passed on July 17, 2022, at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Unity Christian Fellowship Church, 112-100 Morris Street, Ellaville, Georgia. Burial will follow at the Taylor Cemetery, Payne Bottom Community, Ellaville, Macon County, Georgia.

Freddie Cecil Williams was born to the late Bertha Turner Williams and Robert B. Williams on May 28, 1954. He was united in holy matrimony to the former Mary Jones; together they were blessed with 34 years of a wonderful journey. Freddie accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined the Tabernacle of Faith Church. He was an employee at T& R Customs, Inc. Freddie was very talented serving various companies as he proceeded to make a living for himself and the family which includes, farming, self employment, Davis Tire Company, and Durham Furniture Market, His hobbies of life included fishing at Florence and Lake Blackshear and also lawn services.

He leaves a legacy of love and many fond memories to his wife of 34 years Mary Williams, Ellaville, Georgia; Siblings: Fannie Mae Brown, College Park, Georgia; Ruby Dean Edge, Atlanta, Georgia; Ida Mae (Eugene) Lott, Atlanta, Georgia; and Rosetta Williams Story, Lithonia, Georgia; aunts Louise Tate, East Point, Georgia, Quezella Brewer, Decatur, Georgia, Morvenia Smith, Hartford , Connecticut, Fannie Williams  a sister-in-law: Ernestine Dixon, Ellaville, Georgia, Kathy Williams, Betty Williams, and Sandra Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Gloria Brown, age 77, passed Sunday, July 17, 2022. 

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 23, 2022, in the yard of Union Tabernacle Baptist Church, 900 Adderton Street, Americus, Georgia. The Reverend Larry Sims, pastor, will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Ashby Street, Americus, Georgia.

Mrs. Gloria Jean Brown's (affectionately known as Patsy) story began on July 26, 1944, being born to the late James Melvin & the late Mary Guy of Newark, NJ. She spent most of her childhood days in Hawkinsville, Ga and attended their public school system. She was raised with her 4 siblings, and is preceded in death by Panalo (Manny) Simmons, Leon (Butch) Guy, Lolette Guy, and one surviving brother, Hugh Pierson. After reaching an age of maturity, Gloria relocated to Americus, Georgia. She joined Union Tabernacle Baptist Church where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Gloria was a member of the choir and a helper of the kitchen ministry. After many dedicated years of service, Gloria retired from Manhattan Shirt company as a seamstress. When she was not sewing, she could be found by any nearby creek with her pole in the pond.

Gloria was the loving wife of the late Willis Brown. She leaves her memories to be cherished by her daughters: Arizona Lamar of Atlanta, Gloria Tolbert of Americus, Valeria Williams (Gregory) of Americus, Ga, and her bonus daughters: Gwendolyn Harris and the Late Charlotte Paul. Grandchildren: Tavares Moye, Jason Moye, & Thomas “Trey” Moye III all of Atlanta, Ga, Jeremy Williams of Atlanta, Ga, Destiny Williams of Americus, Ga, Gregory Williams Jr (Savannah), and a loving and devoted GrandDaughter and Caregiver, Ashley Jackson-Lewis (Cedric) of Powder Springs, Ga., 12 great grandchildren, A devoted cousin, Payton “Bubba” Rogers (Rosie) of Hawkinsville, A devoted friend: Louis Hodge of Americus Ga and preceding her in death and A host of other relatives and friends.​

Minor Lewis Taylor Sr. age 77, passed on July 12, 2022.

Minor was born to the late Miles Kaigler Taylor and Mattie Mae Respress Taylor. He was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Bateman, and four siblings, Charles Taylor, Henry Jesse Taylor, Wyvonnia Hart, and Shirley Taylor.

He was educated in the public school system of Taylor County. Minor was a Welder and Body Shop Mechanic. In 1996, the family moved back to their native land. He was a Jehovah's Witness from 1993 until he died.

He leaves cherish his memories to his wife Jeanette Wilcher Taylor; Children: Larry Brown, New York City, NY; Minor Taylor Jr., Teddy Taylor, Atlanta, Georgia; Michael Taylor (Iris), Memphis, Tennessee; and Stanley Donell, Atlanta, Georgia; Siblings: Ida Jackson, Elmo Taylor, Inez Hart, Thomas Marie Bailey, Robert Taylor and Marvis Taylor; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends

Curtis Tookes

Curtis Tookes was born on September 8, 1954. He is the fifth child born to the loving arms of the late Mary and Albert Tookes Sr in Oglethorpe, Georgia.  Curtis passed away in the early morning hours on July 1, 2022  along his side was his wife and family members. 

Curtis attended local schools in Macon County up until 1972. He was known as a hard worker and held many titles at Sumter Regional Hospital, Tyson and Davis & Rubber Company.  

 Curtis' most prized achievement was his marriage to Johnnie Mae Hardy for 47 years. They were married on June 7, 1975, and recently celebrated their 47th anniversary with family and friends.  Curtis and Johnnie Mae were rewarded with a trip to Hilton Head for the weekend.   

Curtis has been a devoted Jehovah Witness for over 50 years as he was baptized in 1971.  He was a familiar face and presence in the Kingdom Hall and the Macon County community, where he will be dearly missed.

A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Loretta Taylor Johnson, age 82, 624 Railroad Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia passed on June 30, 2022 at the Perry Hospital, Perry, Georgia.

A wake service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 5:00-6:00 P.M. at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. located at 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Hwy 26 West, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Loretta was born January 22, 1940, in Macon County, Georgia to the late Susie  Williamson Taylor and the late A.C. Taylor. She was married to the late Willie Henry Johnson to their union they were blessed with one daughter.  She was employed over the years as a farmer and worked with Southern Frozen Food and West Central of Georgia.  She was preceded in death by three children, Inez Ford, Charles Ford, Patricia Johnson; one grandson Torrance Lockhart; and siblings Samuel Taylor, Charlie Taylor, Barbara Sanders, Arthur C. Taylor, George Taylor, and Jerome Taylor.  

She leaves to cherish her memories to three children Bernice Taylor Lockhart,  Oglethorpe, Georgia, Linda Ford, Columbus, Georgia, and Steven Ford (Senia), Jessup, Georgia; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; siblings Edward Taylor (Rochelle), Beaver Falls, Philadelphia, Gwendolyn Rumph (George), Fort Valley, Georgia, Carolyn Lohman, Norcross, Georgia, and Marvin Taylor (Carolyn), Fort Valley, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including beloved cousins including Annie Felton of Andersonville, Georgia and Jennifer Felton, Yolanda English as caregiver.
