The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 2, 2010 at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Mount Olive Road, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia.
Alice was born September 29, 1927 in Macon County, Georgia to the late Ed Shealy and Pearl Harmon Shealy. She was married to the late Charlie "Shack" Tookes and to this union they were blessed with eight children, Marvis Tookes and Cynthia Tookes preceded her in death and two grandchildren, Sula Van Marks and Santiargo Marks preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by six siblings, Lester Shealy, J. C. Shealy, Eddie Shealy, Bessie Mae Williams, Eula Brooks and Ida Pearl Shealy Tookes. She was a devout member of the historical Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church whereas she served faithfully on every facet of the church she loved so well.
Alice was a great cook and beautician, a dedicated wife and a wonderful and loving mother. She supported her children in all their endeavors.
She leaves to cherish her loving spirit and her legacy to all she touched along her so sojourn here which include; six children, Vernell Marks (James), Decatur, Georgia, Annie Nell Williams (Michael), Decatur, Georgia, Lydia Tookes, Myron Tookes, Maryland Tookes and Carlessa
Tookes, all of Montezuma, Georgia; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Jannie Mae Shealy and Dorothy Shealy both of New York City, New York. Other family members include two sisters-in-law, Alice Duncan and Sarah Tookes both of Ideal, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
