Walter Fulks, age 76, passed on April 27, 2022, at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia. 

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler St., Oglethorpe, Georgia.  ​

Walter Fulks was born in Macon County, Georgia  on April 10, 1946 to the late Troy Fulks Sr. and Louise Pace Fulks. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County. At an early age he joined the band of Christian believers at Corinth Baptist Church. Walter was self employed as a drywall/sheetrock installer for over five decades. In his past time he enjoyed playing bingo.
 
He leaves to cherish his memories his children Pamela Latimore Boyce and  Kesshan Williams. Grandchildren  Mendy Latimore, Antonio Freeman, Daphinise Boyce, Ernest Mack; great grandchildren Makayla Latimore, Malayala Latimore, Quadri Matthews, Borden Walker. Siblings Bennie  Fulks (San), Harvey Fulks (Carolyn), and Troy Fulks, Jr. (Minnie), Annie Florence Gouch and Ernestine Fulks (Alton); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a devoted niece Anne Wilder.

Mary Alice Rice was the second of nine children. She was born February 25, 1937 to proud parents the late Joseph and Gladys Rice.

She attended the public schools of Macon County, Georgia. At an early age, she moved to New York where she worked for Dr. Jones. She later moved back home to Marshallville, Georgia. During this time she held down several jobs to include Southern Frozen Foods, Kellwood, and Bluebird. 

She was preceded in death by three of her sisters: Louise Slappy, Bennie Jones, and Willie Mae Oglesby.
 
She leaves to cherish her memory, five children: Barbara Williams of Marshallville, GA, Gerry (Marion) Rice of Charleston, SC., Christopher Rice of Miami FL., Antonia Rice of Oglethorpe, GA., and Gabriel Rice of Marshallville, GA. Five sisters: Beulah (Tom) Barton of Leesburg, FL., Mary Davis and Lessie Pearl (John) Reid of Miami, FL. Ossie (Gregory) Hall of Macon, GA., and Cynthia Bozier  of Charlotte, NC. Three brothers: Eddie  B. Rice of Warner Robins, GA., Joe Rice of Marshallville, GA., and Willie B. Oglesby of Brooklyn, NY.Four grandchildren Kelvin Rice of Marshallville, GA., Jessica Ezell, of Byron, GA., Frances Clark of Warner Robins, GA., and Jeremy Rice of Germany. Five great grandchildren Johnathan Wiggins of Marshallville, GA., Kamryn Holmes and Ja’Vona Taylor of Warner Robins, Georgia, Kelvin Jr. and Ja’Liya Joiner of Byron Ga. One uncle Joseph (JoAnn) Haugabook of Rockmart, GA. A host of nieces and nephews including one devoted niece Karen Walton. Five devoted friends: Jasper White, Nancy Fields, Lois Blue, Helen Jones and  Albert Warren. Special thanks to  Hospice and several caregivers including her last one Tiffany McDanie.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 27, 2022, in the Buena Vista City Cemetery, Third Avenue, Buena Vista, Georgia.

Johnny Lee Hunt was born May 29, 1958, in Buena Vista, Georgia to the late Henry Hunt and the late Martha King Hunt. He was educated in the public school system of Marion County and was a 1977 graduate of Tri- County High School. At early age he joined the band of Christian believers at Popular Springs Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Bailey. He was self-employed as auto mechanic. He loved to work on cars and he will forever be remembered by family and friends as a big jokester.    

He leaves to cherish his memories to three sisters, Ruby Jean Hunt, Buena Vista, Georgia, Henrietta Hunt Bryant (Willie), Killeen, Texas, Mary Helen Fudge (Jerome), Columbus, Georgia; a companion, Willie Mae Pollard, Americus, Georgia; aunts, Minnie Griffin, Orlando, Florida, Mary Hatcher, Los Angles, Florida, Helen Elizabeth King, Columbus, Georgia, and Mary Jackson (Fred), Miami, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jimmy Porter Sr., age 80, 141 Brady Street, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Thursday morning April 7, 2022, at the St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, Georgia.  
 
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday morning, 11:00 A.M. April 16, 2022, at the Mount Olive Baptist Church, Moody Road, Tazewell, Georgia.  The Reverend Joe Oglesby, pastor will officiate.  Masks are required in the sanctuary. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Jimmy Porter Sr. was born March 11, 1942, in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the late Harrison Porter, Sr. and the late Mamie Walton Porter.  Born in a family of fourteen siblings, he was preceded in death by eleven: C. J. Porter, Marion Maddox, Mary Sales, Harrison Porter, Jr. Julia Blue, Ella Pearl Ramsey, Carrie Lee Williams, Lucille Swan, James Edward Porter, Alma Ross and Nancy Porter.
 
He was educated in the public school system of Marion County.  He obtained his Christian training in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Tazewell, Georgia whereas he accepted Christ as his Savior and joined the band of Christian believers.  He served on the Financial Board for a number of years and supported every facet  of the church he loved so well.
 
He retired from Tyson Food after 44 years. He also retired from Marion County Rural Water Department after 12 years.
 
Mr. Jimmy was united in holy matrimony to the former Ella Colbert in 1971 and to this union they were blessed with eight children. Survivors are a loving wife, Ella Colbert Porter, Buena Vista, Georgia; eight children and their spouses, Jimmy Porter, Jr. (Ruth), John Porter, Mary Porter all of Pompano Beach, Florida, Deborah Kelly (Willie), Janice P. Shivers (Christopher) all Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Calvin Colbert (Charisse) Buena Vista, Georgia, Kathryn Scott, Americus, Georgia and Gwen Porter (Teddy) Phenix City, Alabama; 21 Grandchildren (two preceded him in death) and 47 great grandchildren; two siblings, Louise Tennyson, Tazewell, Georgia and Irene Minter Buena Vista, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Terry, Satellite Beach, Florida, Sarah Thomas, Buena Vista, GA and one brother-in-law, Moses Ross, Buena Vista, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rev. Freddie Lee Mann Sr., age 69, passed on April 5, 2022 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 9, 2022, New Antioch Baptist Church, 484 US Hwy 280 West, Americus, Georgia. Burial will be held at the Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia with military honors.

Rev. Freddie Lee Mann Sr. was born May 31, 1952 to the parentage  of the late Mrs. Bertha Patrick Mann and the late Mr. Willie Mann Jr. in Sumter County, Georgia. He was educated in the public school of Sumter County and was a 1971 graduate of Plains High School. He later joined the U.S. Army. On December 24,1971 he married the former Hattie Bell Johnson and to this union five children were reared. He was employed by the U.S Agriculture Department as the first African American Soil Engineer for the state of Georgia for over 25 years. In February 1991 he heard the voice of Jesus telling him to preach the word of God at the Jerusalem Baptist Church. For over 30 years he preached and ministered  to many at the following churches: Shiloh of Dawson, Mountain Grove of Dawson, New Mt. Mariah of Americus, Welcome Baptist Church of Americus, Shady Grove of Cordele. 
 
He is preceded in death his wife Hattie B. Mann; two daughters: Clarisa Mann, Melissa Mann Harris; one son, Kenneth Johnson; one brother Charlie Mann; and two sisters, Annie Brown and  Mary Ann Mann.
 
He leaves to cherish his memories two sons Freddie Mann Jr. and Larenza Man, two sisters, Ms. Eva Mann and Ms. Mattie (Alfred Sr.) Wright; five brothers, Mr. Arthur (Rebecca) Mann, Dr. Cleveland (Fannie) Mann, Rev. William (Doris) Mann, Mr. Ray Mann, Mr. Willis Mann; six sisters-in-law Mary Hurley, Lassandra Hurley, Ruby (Tim) Wilson, Isa Bell (Shelly) Tyson, Christine Johnson and Emma Clay; five brothers-in-law, Robert Lee Johnson Jr., Johnnie Sims, David (Carolyn) Sims, Leonard Johnson, Michael Johnson; one son-in-law, Ron Harris; one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Johnson, seven grandchildren, one he raised as own Rev. Mireo Harris, and two great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  ​

Emma Denise Jones Duncan was born in Ideal, Macon County Georgia, September 9, 1962 to the late Clifford B. Jones and Emma Clyde Daniel Jones. Born in a family of eleven children, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Charlie Earl Jones and K. C. Jones.  Growing up in Macon County, she attended public school system in Macon County, Georgia, and was a 1980 graduate of Macon County High School. She acquired her nursing certification from South Georgia Technical College.  For several years she work as an LPN at Doctor McDonald's office. After fifteen years of service she retired from the United States Postal service in Macon, Georgia.
 
Emma and Ronald united in holy matrimony in 1983 and to this union they were blessed with two daughters, Chelsi Odell Duncan and Raven Breon Duncan both of Atlanta, Georgia. She was also blessed with a stepdaughter, Rhonda Byse of Montezuma, Georgia.
 
Others survivors include eight siblings and their spouses; Johnnie C. Jones (Charlie Mae), Jacksonville, Florida, Jessie Clyde Henderson, Decatur, Georgia, Walter C. Jones (Marlyn), Clifford Jones (Patricia), Bennie Jones (Betty Sue), Tommy Jones (Geraldine), Doris Rumph, and James Jones (Liz);  four step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; an additional six more sisters-in-law including Louise Jones, Decatur, Georgia, Connie Leary Duncan, Ideal, Georgia, Barbara Duncan, Connie Duncan, Betty Joe Duncan and Sonia Michelle Duncan all of Atlanta, Georgia; one paternal aunt, Ola Mae Turner, Oglethorpe, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews  including one devoted niece, Shernika Hooks Hicks; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Barbara Ann Jackson Mathis was born February 12, 1964 to the late Mary Lou Hankerson Jackson and the late Theotis Jackson, Sr. in Americus, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her brother, Alvin Hankerson. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Deacon and Mrs. Bruce and Ola Mae Nelson Hankerson; by her father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leo and Inez Mathis; three of her husband siblings: (Christine Lepford, and Lenton Mathis), her aunts, Burnice Mae Hankerson Leigh, Nettie Clara Ford, Virgina H. Walker, Barbara Hankerson, Annie Maude Hankerson, Ola Mae Hankerson Brown, Peggy Hankerson and Ola Mae Hill Hankerson.

She was educated in the public school system of Americus, whereas she graduated in 1981. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined the Mount Olive Baptist Church, Jefferson St., Americus, Georgia whereas  Reverend H. C. Wilson was pastor.
 
She was united in holy matrimony to her one and only love, Leroy Mathis and to this union they were blessed with three children Katrina Ann Mathis Hall (Thadeous), Americus, Georgia, Nicholas Mathis, Ruther Glenn, Virginia and Curtis Mathis, Americus, Georgia; thirteen grandchildren; one sister Debora Cox, Americus, Georgia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and their spouses, Freda Hankerson, Atlanta, Georgia, Bertha Lee Mathis, Margret Mathis McCant (Doug), Eddie James Mathis, Sammie Mathis (Linda), Dennis Mathis (Friend, Marquita), all of  Oglethorpe, Georgia, Jade Mathis (Deborah), Joan Mathis, Atlanta, Georgia, Rose Mathis Lyles and Willie Mathis both of Montezuma, Georgia. Aunts and uncles, Thomas Hankerson, Belleglade, Florida, Amelia Hankerson, Dea. James Hankerson,and  Joe Lewis Ford all of Oglethorpe, Georgia; Katie Mae Tookes, Rosean, Ford both of Jacksonville, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mrs. Inez Fredrick Rocquemore, age 94, 109 MLK, Jr. Drive, Montezuma, Georgia passed Friday, March 25, 2022, at her home.

Graveside service will be held Sunday, April 3, 2022, at 12:00 o’clock Noon at Champ Waters Cemetery, 191 Twin Church Rd., Montezuma, Georgia.

Mrs. Inez Fredrick Rocquemore was born March 31, 1927, in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to the late Connie Kaigler Fredrick and the late Albert Fredrick.  She was married to the late Clarence Rocquemore Sr. To this union, seven children were born; two preceded her in death, Clarence Jr. and William J. “PAP” Rocquemore.  She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.  After many dedicated years of service she retired as a seasonal worker and home Maker.

Survivors include five children, Clara Mae Rocquemore, Chicago, Illinois, Paulene  Rocquemore,  Montezuma, Georgia, Glenn Rocquemore, Chicago, Illinois, Sandra Rocquemore, Montezuma, Georgia, and Jerry Rocquemore, Chicago, Illinois; a host of grandchildren, two which she raised as her own Marcus and Sharoni; great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, others relatives and  friends; sisters-in-law, Mildred Fredrick, Montezuma, Georgia and Nettie Mae Fredrick, Orlando, Florida; devoted cousin Mary Stewart, Montezuma, Georgia
