Charlie James Ellison

Charlie James Ellison, age 67, passed Thursday night, June 27, 2013 at the Montezuma Nursing Center, Montezuma, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Antioch Baptist Church, 4826 Georgia Highway 26 West, Oglethorpe, Georgia. The Reverend Dr. George Porter, Jr., pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery.

Charlie James was born October 15, 1945 in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia to the late Leroy Ellison and Ida B. Cephus Ellison. He was preceded in death by one brother, L. W. “Peanut” Ellison and a very devoted cousin, Willie “Buster Harris“ Hill. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County whereas he attended the old historic Oglethorpe Grammar School. After many years of dedicated services he retired as a vegetable farmer and large equipment operator. 

Survivors include two very devoted sisters, Jeanette Leggett (Hayward) and Nettie Irene Cephus, all of Oglethorpe, Georgia; sister-in-law, Bessie Ellison, Reynolds, Georgia; aunt, Emma Lee Cephus, Montezuma, Georgia; thirteen nieces and nephews, Katina Kleckley (Willie), Adrian Wilson (Cornelia), Pamela Leggett, Reginald Leggett, Brittany Leggett, Nicholas Jordan, Jalen Cephus, Lance Harris, Sr. (Viviann), Leonard Curgil (Dornnett), Anthony Curgil, Trinesa Ellison, Trenton Curgil, and Travis Ellison (LeKeitha): and a host of beloved great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Rosa L. Leggett Byse, age 59, North Perry Pkwy Apt D-4, Perry, Georgia passed Friday, June 21, 2013.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Faith Memorial C.M.E. Church, Brooks Road, Ideal, Georgia. The Reverend Zackery Terry, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Georgia Hwy 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia.

Mrs. Byse was born September 16, 1953 to Mrs. Corene Griffin Leggett and the late Mack Leggett in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County whereas she matriculated at Ideal Modern Elementary School from first through eighth grade and later she graduated from D. F. Douglass High School of Montezuma, Georgia in 1971. She did her post graduate studies at Fort Valley State College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Early Childhood Education. Later, she received her TSS add-on from RESA.

During her tenure at Macon County Primary and Macon County Elementary, she participated in the mentoring program, N.E.A., G.A.E. and various educational workshops. Mrs. Byse was a volunteer for Girl Scout Troop 264 and a member of the Faith Memorial C.M.E. Church, where she served as Missionary President and Sunday School Teacher. For thirty-two years she devoted her life to working with students, parents, and collegues at Macon County Elementary and the surrounding communities.

Survivors are her husband, Eddie Byse, Ideal, Georgia; her two children, Tanisha Evette Byse, Perry, Georgia and Derek Edmond Byse, (his companion, Catherine Cottle) Douglassville, Georgia. One grandson, Derek Edmond Byse, Jr., Douglassville, Georgia; mother, Corene Griffin Leggett, Montezuma, Georgia; two brothers, Elton Sparks (Jackie), Perry, Georgia and James Sparks, Atlanta, Georgia; uncle and aunts, L. J. Griffin (Corine), Beulah Griffin, all of Ideal, Georgia and Mary Rucker, Atlanta, Georgia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including, Mrs. Peggy Ann Miles, Montezuma, Georgia.

Mr. Henry Lester Fulks, Sr., passed June 16, 2013. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Travelers Home Baptist Church, Travelers Home Road, Ideal, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Georgia Highway 26 West, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Henry Lester was born April 10, 1935 in Macon County, Georgia to the late Clarence Fulks, Sr. and Emma Pearl Fulks. He was preceded in death by six siblings: Clarence Fulks, Jr. Walter Lee Fulks, Gracie Fulks and Fred “Buttercup” Fulks; his son-in-law, Roosevelt Morgan, Sr.; two grandchildren, Dominique Lloyd and RoVonne Fulks; and one great granddaughter, Destiny Williams. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County. 

Henry was united in holy matrimony to the former Louise Thomas, and to this union they were blessed with four daughters and six sons (Alfred, Charles, April, Phyllis, Henry Jr., Kim, Christopher, Arthur, Isaac, and Michelle). Louise preceded Henry in death in the year of 2000. He was employed with Queen Quality Laundry and retired as a supervisor after 40 years of dedicated service. Henry owned and operated H & L Landscaping. He enjoyed his garden and sharing his bounty with others.

He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved children, Alfred Fulks, Detroit Michigan, Charles Fulks Sr. (Rose) Detroit, Michigan, April Holland, Southgate, Michigan, Phyllis Morgan Westland, Michigan, Henry Fulks Jr. (Kim), Galloway, Ohio, Kim Fulks, Christopher Fulks, Arthur Fulks (Shabrena), Isaac Fulks Sr. and Michelle Davis, all of Detroit Michigan; three granddaughters he raised as his own, Sarah Pitts (Chet), Detroit, Michigan, Kisha Fulks, and Tanesha Fulks of Oak Park, Michigan; grandchildren, Derrick (Keisha), Jacob, Eleesha, Tamika, Jessica (Terrell), Jameela, Corion (Darshay), Christopher, Ty-Shaun, Roosevelt, Charles Jr., Keiairra, Shannon, Stephon, Darrell, Natasha, Sedan, Rahsaan, Domanyck, Dasiha, Takhayla, Ayantae, and Isaac, Jr.; twenty-eight great grandchildren; his siblings; Bobby Lee Hosley, (Fred), Ellaville, Georgia, Willie Pearl Fulks, Atlanta, Georgia, Christine Bolden, (Augustus), Detroit, Michigan, Lillie Mae Fulks, Daisy Lee Williams, (Robert), and Bernice Edwards, all of Atlanta, Georgia; sister-in-law, Shirley Fulks of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including a special friend Erma Bernard.

A. C. Warner, age 81, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Magnolia Manor of Marion County, Buena Vista, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, McDuffie Street, Buena Vista, Georgia.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Zion Road, Buena Vista, Georgia.

A. C. was born April 19, 1932 in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia. to the late John Warner and Adlisha Claitt Warner.  He was preceded in death by three siblings: Annie Mae Henderson, Johnny Warner and David Warner.

He retired from Chemical Bank of New York City after 32 years of dedicated services as a loan officer.  

Survivors are two siblings, Catherine Fudge, Buena Vista, Georgia and James Warner (Sophia), Chesapeake, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Robin Warner, Terry Town, New York and Sewan Warner, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania;  and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Allene Smith Edwards, age 82, formerly of Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia, passed Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Legacy Nursing Home, Atlanta, Georgia. 

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 17, 2013 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Dozier Road, Ellaville, Georgia.  Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.

Mrs. Edwards was born July 26, 1930 in Andersonville, Sumter County, Georgia to the late Will Smith and Alma Fuller Smith. She was preceded in death by two siblings: Charlie Hopkins and Cora Bell Baisden. She was educated in the public school system of Sumter County. She was married to the late Mr. Robert Edwards.  To this union, they were blessed with seven children.  Three children, Clyde Edwards, Shirley Carter, and Stanley Edwards, preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Vernida Blue Edwards.

She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist church and a retired homemarker.

She leaves a legacy of loving memories to her beloved children, Darlene Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia, Larry Edwards (Bertha), Ellaville, Georgia, Lee Edwards, Sr., Milledgeville, Georgia and Robin Mansfield (William), Austell, Georgia;  four siblings, William Smith (Lorine), Ellaville, Georgia, Cornelius Sellars, Macon, Georgia, Mary Dean Smith (Norman), Brooklyn, New York, and Lou Willie Edwards, Americus, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Inez Trice, St. Petersburg, Florida and Jessie Lee Hopkins, Americus, Georgia; twenty-two grandchildren,  a host of beloved great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Thelma Hunter Boone, age 72, of Pecan Village Subdivision, 100 Hayes Avenue, Apt 19, Ellaville, GA passed Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, Georgia.

A wake service will be held from 6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M., on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Buena Vista, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Thelma was born January 6, 1941 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the late Willis “Buster” Hunter and Minnie Jewel Perry Hunter. One son, John “Bam” Boone, Jr., preceded her in death on June 7, 1995. Five siblings, Bernice Hunter Daniel, Alfred “Bro” Hunter, Charlie Hunter, Leroy Hunter and Diane Hunter, preceded her in death. She was educated in the Marion County school system and graduated as Valedictorian of Buena Vista High School in Buena Vista, Georgia. She also attended Blaton Trade School in Atlanta, Georgia where she obtained a certificate of Medical Secretarial Science. She was previously employed as a medical secretary and bookkeeper. She joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at an early age and attended New Corinth Baptist Church.

On April 12 1969, she was united in holy matrimony to John Stewart Boone, Sr. For many years, she has taken pride in being a housewife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include a beloved husband of 44 years, John S. Boone, Sr. of Ellaville, Georgia; six children, Horace Givens, Jr. (Janice), Miami, Florida;Darryl Hunter, Sr. (Kellie), San Diego, California; CW4 Gregory Hunter (Cherylanne), Kaiserslautern, Germany; Alesia Boone, Clarksburg, Maryland; Dr. Cathy Dothard (James) Lizella, Georgia; and Mark Boone, San Diego, California; twelve (12) grandchildren, Jasmineand D’Angelo Givens, both of Miami, Florida, Robert Warren Hunter, Darryl Hunter, Jr., Annastasia Green,Alexandria Green, and Cameron Hunter, all of San Diego, California, Keashona Ballard, Frisco, Texas, Kevin Ballard, Ventura, California, Ajani Rhodes, Clarksburg, Maryland; and Marisol and Benjamin Dothard, both of Lizella, Georgia; three sisters and two brothers,Mary Hunter Walker (Elder Alphonso, Sr.), Mt. John Jones, Sr., age 72, 438A Brady Street, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Columbus Regional Healthcare System, Columbus, Georgia. 

The memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Shelton Temple Church of God in Christ, 232 5th Avenue, Buena Vista, Georgia, where Elder Charlie Kelley is pastor.  Elder Arthur Franklin will officiate.

Mr. Jones was born April 5, 1941 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the late James Howard Jones and Inez Ingram Jones Dotson.  He was educated in the public school system of Marion County.  In 1961, he was united in holy matrimony to the former Elizabeth Green.  Their union was blessed with four children.  One daughter, Lori Ann, preceded him in death.  After many years of dedicated services, he retired from Marion County Public Works Department as a truck driver.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Green Jones, Buena Vista, Georgia; three children, Carol Ford (Tony), Mary Louise jones, and John Howard Jones, Jr. (Silva Ghant), all of Buena Vista, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Latashia Wright, Talika Wright, Kendra Wright, Bobby Wright, Jr. (Akeisha Ghant), Anisha Jones, Gregory Jones, Quantivious Jones, and Garricas Jones, all of Buena Vista, Georgia; 18 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Essie Franklin, Jessie Franklin (Joyce), Elder Arthur Franklin, Edward Green, and Ulysses Franklin, all of Buena Vista, Georgia; and a host of beloved nieces, nephew, other relatives, and friends.
