On April 27, 2024, Geneva Leary, our beloved matriarch passed away. Geneva was 84 years old. Geneva was born in Macon County, GA on May 9, 1939, to the late Lera Jackson and Marion Porter. Losing her mother at an early age, Geneva was raised by the wondrously nurturing Maryland Jackson James. Geneva spent her formative years in Macon County, Georgia. However, Geneva moved to Atlanta early into her adult life to make a life for herself and provide support for her young daughter. Garnering a myriad of experience from job roles spanning 50 years, Geneva dedicated more than 15 years with Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC). The years at GWCC gave Geneva a deep sense of pride, where she ultimately retired from the organization.

Geneva is survived by her only child, Faye D. Lowe of Atlanta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Lawanda (Xavier) Edwards and Roy (Ivory) Rogers; six great-grandchildren, Jasmin Rogers, Yasmin Rogers, Nya Rogers, Roy Rogers III, James Edwards, and Romeo Rogers; four great great-grandchildren, Monet Rogers, Riley Rogers, Royal Rogers, and Ra’Nylah Rogers; one brother, Madison Porter of Oglethorpe, Georgia; ten special cousins (siblings-of-the-heart), Timothy Jackson, Fannie Greene, Clarence (Gladis), Elvis (Benita) James, Johnny (Joann) James, Lafayette James, Cheffie Williams, Carl Lorenzo James, Maryland James, and Lucille Jordan; one aunt, Marie Jackson; two nieces, Femi Porter and Farah Porter Jefferies; a host of other beloved cousins, family members, and friends. Geneva lived her life to the fullest. Geneva’s memory will be forever cherished by her family and friends. We will forever honor the legacy of a remarkable woman who made a lasting impact on us all.
