Freddie Lee Trice, age 63, passed on August 25, 2020 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Sumter, Americus, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Jalappa Road, Byromville, Georgia.

Freddie was born on September 17, 1956 to the late Freddie Mae Lester Trice and the late Hozie Trice, Jr. in Byromville, Georgia. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Billy Green, Cornelius Baldwin, and Willie Trice. Freddie worked over the years as a construction worker and mechanic.

He leaves a son Frederick English (Cryshonda), Montezuma, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Ken, DeNautica, Fredericka, Lasomba, Zimiah, Cryniesha; five great grandchildren, KaMani, Karman, Kingston, Princeton, and Princess; siblings, Nathan Trice, Lithonia, Georgia, Ella (Michael) Miles, Riverdale, Georgia, Tommy Lee Trice, Macon, Georgia, Robert Edward Trice, Decatur, Georgia, Valerie Denise Trice, Americus, Georgia, and Jimmy (Mary Joe) Redding, Vienna, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Abbie Lee Caldwell-Weaver

Mrs. Abbie Lee Caldwell-Weaver, better known as “Momma Abbie”, of 402 Jordan Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia transitioned on Friday, August 21, 2020 at her home.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., August 28, 2020 at the Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe​, Georgia.

Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates to limit the number of attendees at all services at this time. We are limiting the number of attendees to no more than 10 at the funeral home chapel services and graveside services. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.

Mrs.  Weaver was born on June 16, 1930 (90 years of age) to the late Will Caldwell and Lillian Brown Caldwell in Montezuma, Georgia.  She was preceded in death by her siblings AC Caldwell, Will Caldwell, Gene Caldwell, Oscar Caldwell, Inez Rucker, Bernice Caldwell, and Ella Caldwell.     

Mrs. Weaver accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and joined the band of believers at the New Phillip Primitive Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia with the current presiding minister, Elder Austin.  There she served as a devoted member, secretary of the church, and supported every facet of the church she loved so well until her illness.  She looked forward to Quarterly 4th Sunday Foot Washing and the Annual Primitive Baptist Church Home Celebration where she was known for her famous Abbie’s Butter Pound cake and Egg Custard.     

Mrs. Weaver valued education, she graduated high school, completing the eleventh grade in the public school system of Macon County.  Following high school she married the late James D. Colbert, Sr. and became a mother of three children; however, her passion was sewing, she was a great seamstress and desired to teach sewing.  She was a dedicated homemaker in raising her three children.  In her latter years Mrs. Weaver became employed at the Montezuma Health Care Center as a CNA and she later met and married the late Deacon Willie Weaver.  The two built their home together in Oglethorpe, GA.  She retired as a CNA, but continued to be a pillar in her community serving as a member of the Disabled American Veteran Auxiliary (DAV Auxiliary – Military Organization) under the leadership of her daughter-in-law, Larether T. Colbert, Commander Unit #1.  She was also a member of the Oglethorpe Benevolent Association. Many considered Mrs. Weaver, or as her community called her “Momma Abbie” an elder stateswoman of her neighborhood and animal rights advocate, she loved her cats.  Everyone loved her and she never met a stranger.   

Mrs. Weaver leaves behind a legacy of love and many cherished memories: her (3) children James (Larether) Colbert of Atlanta, GA; Carolyn (Abraham) Cokley of Americus, GA; and  Gene (Sheila) Colbert of McDonough, GA; (4) granddaughters COL Rolanda (Neville) Colbert-Mitcham of Fairfax, VA; Kimberly (Kimbly) Jackson of Americus, GA; Kellie Leary of Alpharetta, GA; Rashida (Ade) Adekoya of Troy, Ohio; and (1) grandson John Griffin of Americus, GA; (11) great-grandchildren McKenzie (Corey) Evans of Atlanta, GA; Neville (Morgan) Mitcham Jr of Memphis, TN; Jaqazeus Wallace of Alpharetta, GA; Dalvin, Daylon, and Kendall Leary of Alpharetta, GA; Simeon and Simone Adekoya of Troy, Ohio;  Kebresha Baker of Albany, GA;  Shatori Wallace of Americus, GA; and (3) great-great grandsons Corey, III and Zion Evans of Atlanta, GA; Niles-Barack Mitcham of Memphis, TN.  

Mrs. Weaver is survived by her beloved sister, Mary Nealy of Ft. Myers, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews including Beulah (Bishop Clarence) Glover of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Barbara  Jones of Columbus, Georgia;  Curtis (Sharon) Caldwell of Jersey City, New Jersey; Jim (Sharon) Gary of Oglethorpe, GA;  Oscar Caldwell, III of Marietta, GA; Beverly (COL(Retired) Kenneth) Ward of McDonough, GA; Cynthia Stewart of  Atlanta, GA;  Mary (JC) Daniels of Atlanta, GA;  Fred Warren of Oglethorpe, GA; Jessie Warren of Montezuma, GA;   Ann Akins of Montezuma, GA;  Susie Akins of Atlanta, GA;  Landis Ogburn of Montezuma, GA;  Emma-Jean Patterson of Montezuma, GA,  Jaelverlyn (Rev Jerald) Cole of Samford, NC;  Ann (John) Hannor of East Point, GA; Lynn (Emily Cee) Patterson of Montezuma, GA; Frederick Jackson, Oglethorpe of GA; Robert Patterson of New York; Bobby (Barbara Ann) Patterson of Montezuma, GA.    

She will be missed by her, neighbors and devoted care givers Ollie Hill Harris and Mary Hill Cochran of Oglethorpe, Georgia and the New Phillip Primitive Baptist Church family.   

Abbie loved her family and friends dearly and that love was reciprocated.

​Curtis Walton, age 60, 14 Mimosa Hwy 26 East, Buena Vista, Georgia passed, Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Piedmont Hospital, Columbus, Georgia.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Tazewell, Georgia. The Rev. Joe Oglesby, Pastor, will officiate.

Curtis was born December 8, 1959 to the late Hosley Walton and Mattie Minter Walton. He was a 1977 graduate of Tri-County High School. At an early age he  joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was married to the former Pearl Hill and to this union three children were born. He was employed with TCI of Ellaville, Georgia where he  was a Grinder Foremen.

He was preceded in death by five siblings: Evelyn Walton, Rebecca Jones, Julia Walton, Chester Walton, and Clem Walton.

Andrea Renee Harris Manson was born in Fort Valley, Georgia to the late Hattie Lucille Tolbert Harris and the late Greene Harris Sr. on July 24, 1961. She was educated in the public school system of Peach County and was a 1979 graduate of Peach County High School. Andrea was a member of St. Peter A.M.E. Church in Fort Valley. Over the years she worked at Fort Valley Ford, the Tax Commissioner's Office and as a Deputy Clerk at the Superior Court Office.  Andrea loved reading, cooking, and doing crossword puzzles.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three children, Kelli Manson, Nickalas Manson, and Lucas Manson, all of Fort Valley, Georgia; three grandchildren, Nevaeh Manson, Landri Rawls, and Xander Manson; four siblings Frances Smith (Walter), Monticello, Georgia, Carol Jefferson, Pamela Moore (Lucious) and Greene Harris Jr., all of Fort Valley, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, including her devoted friends, Tammy Hooks, Tessa Chubbs, and Brenda Rodriguez Manson.

​Norma Shirley Kleckley, age 80, of New City, New York passed Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Friedwald Center 475 New Hempstead Road, New City, New York.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Sunday, August 16, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia. The service will be live streamed via the funeral home's Facebook page.

Arthur Lee Garry Jr. was born March 26, 1945 to the late Catherine Clark Garry and the late Arthur Lee Garry Sr. in Lee County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Claudia Mathews, and siblings, Mattie Sue Garry, Willie Lou Garry, Andrew Garry (Mary Lizzie). He was educated in the public school system of Lee County. At an early age he accepted Jesus as his personal Savior and joined the band of Christian believers at St. John Baptist Church.  Arthur was employed as a farmer with Pace Farms in Leslie, Georgia. He was joined in holy matrimony to the late  Lula Mae Deriso and to this union three children were born.

Left to cherish him always are his two children, Arthur James Garry Sr. (Christina), Americus, Georgia and Samuel Garry (Ella), Baconton, Georgia; fifteen grandchildren; a host of great and great great grandchildren; one brother, Charlie Garry, Americus, Georgia; a son-in-law, Jason Matthews, Camilla, Georgia; sisters and brothers-in-law, MacArthur Deriso, Vickie Mae Mathis both of Desoto, Georgia, Georgia Deriso, Leslie, Georgia, Arthur Lee Deriso (Betty), Dorothy Fuller (Walter), all of Desoto, Georgia, Bertha Ray (Charles), Cordele, Georgia,  and Pearlie Deriso, Americus, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including devoted friends, Ira Jones and Odessa Holley.

George Edward Sparks, affectionately called “Ed,” passed on August 10, 2020 at the age of 77.

A wake service will be held from 5:00-6:00 P.M. on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Champ Waters Cemetery, Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.

George E. Sparks “Ed” was born in Montezuma, Georgia on November 10, 1942  to the late Lelia Mae Bailey Sparks and the late James Sparks in Macon County. He was the 3rd of 4 siblings. He was preceded in death by two siblings Willie C. Sparks and Glenda Louise Sparks .

Ed was educated in the public school system of Macon County. He acquired his elementary education from the old historic Macon County Training School and was a graduate of the historic D.F. Douglass High School. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was a faithful member of Magnolia Baptist Church where he served in the choir and Senior Usher Board. Whenever there were meals to be made in the fellowship hall, Ed took great joy in going to pick up the church chicken for the food ministry. In 1985 he became a Mason serving M.E. Prince Hall under Plymouth Rock Lodge #86.

After moving to Atlanta, Ed worked for Simmons Mattress for 25 yrs. He also worked for Burrell Coffey Motors for 12 yrs. He attended Mount Ephraim Baptist Church under the leadership of  Dr. R L White Jr. where he served on the Usher Board. He took great pride in doing what he thought God wanted him to do.  Following retirement he moved back to Montezuma and lived his best life with his lovely sister Glenda. He was glad to be back home once again and returning his church home Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church. He truly loved Rev. Waters and  First Lady very much.

Ed also work with the Montezuma Police Department and the Macon School System as a Crossing Guard. He enjoyed having breakfast at the Huddle House and shooting the breeze as he would say with his friends. Ed loved to travel, dance, music and good food. But most of all we all know he loved to dress.

On August 10, 2020, God took Ed by his hand and said “Well done, good and faithful servant." And he peacefully entered into rest. His voice for kindness, his heart for love and his spirit for unselfishness, will always remain in the hearts and memories of his family: daughters, Cheryl Blackwell, Kimberly Bass; granddaughters, Terrilisha Hawkins, Brittany Mitchell (Dontavies); great grandson, Brenten Mitchell- Shank; brother, Johnny Sparks (Mable); sister-in-law, Ola Mae Sparks; nieces, Gail Sparks Odom (Willie); Contessa Lane, Dr. Donzaleigh Arrington (Anthony), and Doris Sparks; nephews, James Sparks, Marvin Sparks, Anthony Sparks, Timothy Caldwell; loving cousins, and a host of many relatives and friends.

Fannie B. West, a beloved mother, sister, aunt and loving Christian friend departed this earthly life on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in the surrounding of her beloved family.

Fannie was born May 10, 1950 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the late Dave West and the late Ruby Murray West.  She was educated in the public school system of Marion County where she was a graduate of Buena Vista High School. 

After many years of dedicated services to Tyson Food, Inc. she retired as a meat inspector.

Growing up in a Christian Family, she learned early in life her path of duty. Accepting Jesus Chris as her personal Savior, she joined the Cool Spring Baptist Church where she performed many duties as a member of the choir, kitchen committee, and hospitality committee.  She was always there to lend a helping hand. 

She will certainly be missed by her family including her four loving children and their spouses, Michelle Milner, Lawrenceville, Georgia, Dr. Sharon L. James Willis Jolly Jr.

​James Willis Jolly Jr., affectionately called “Hollywood," passed on August 7, 2020 at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 61.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

James Willis Jolly Jr. was born November 17, 1958 in Ideal, Georgia to Dorothy Mae Hawkins and the late James Willis Jolly Sr. He was known by family and friends as “Hollywood”. Mr. Jolly attended Volusia County school system of Daytona Beach, Fl. and graduated from Mainland Senior High School.  Later, he followed his passion of cooking for others and became the proud owner of Little Jolly’s Wash mobile  detailing service.

He was preceded in death by two siblings Eddie Jolly and Skip Sherten.

James Jolly leaves to cherish his memories wife, Cynthia Little Jolly (Atlanta); his devoted daughter, Latosha Jolly (Charlotte, NC); sons Quadavious Brown, Montagious Brown (Atlanta, GA); grandchildren, Shakur Wilson, Christian Wilson, Isaiah Brown, Myles Brown, Zariah Reid, and Centrice Reid Jr.; siblings Patrica Ann Hill, Charles Hawkins, Eric Hawkins, Michael  Sherten, Bernard Sherten: aunts and uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a special friend Faye Davis, (Miami, Florida).

​Mr. Eddie Charles Hudson, Jr. age 51, 626 Plant Street, Montezuma, Georgia passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020 at the Riverdale Nursing Center in Riverdale, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at  Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery located on Georgia Hwy 26 West in Oglethorpe, Georgia.  Bishop Jack Smith will officiate.

Eddie Charles Hudson, Jr. was born on February 21, 1969 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Eddie Charles Hudson, Sr. and the late Bernistine Mae Thomas Hudson. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County and was a 1987 graduate of Macon County High School, Montezuma, Georgia. He graduated from Barbizon Modeling School in 1989. He also served his country proudly in the United States Army. Eddie joined First Salem Baptist Church June 2010. Eddie was very talented in modeling, poetry, and making jewelry. He owned his jewelry store called Elegance By Eddie. He was loved by many and always helping those in need. 
 
Eddie leaves to cherish his memories: his siblings, Clifford Bernard Hudson (Wanda) and Kenneth Jerome Hudson (Bianca) both of Oglethorpe, Georgia,  Syretta Denise Hudson Brown (Pernell) of Montezuma, Georgia, half sisters Willie Mae Smith (Jack) of Kathleen, Georgia, Deborah Boykins of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Miracle Hudson; nieces, Adrian Kimberly Williams of Florida, Miah LeAnn Hudson of Montezuma, Georgia, and Camiyah Hudson of Perry, Georgia; nephews, Deontae Jeremiah Hudson of Montezuma, Georgia, Joshua Hudson.
