Ms. Christine Taylor, age 77, 114 Hayes Avenue, Apt #13 Ellaville, Georgia passed Monday, May 30, 2011 at Lillian Carter Nursing Home 225 Hospital, Plains, Georgia. 

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 3, 2011 at Quebec Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 26 West Ellaville, Georgia. Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Road, Ellaville, Georgia.

Christine Taylor was born in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia May 4, 1934 to the late Paul Peeple and Mary Lizzie Murford Peeple. She was preceded in death by two siblings Elizabeth Taylor Alexander and Roosevelt Taylor, Jr. She was educated in the public school system of Schley County and acquired her Christian training in the local churches. At an early age she joined the Quebec Baptist Church where she served faithfully until death.

She leaves a legacy of love and sweet memories to her beloved family, which include her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth (Shirley) Taylor, Fayetteville, Georgia; her loving and devoted nieces which include, Geneva Venson (Henry), Atlanta, Georgia and Linda Taylor, Atlanta, Georgia; nephews, Leroy Taylor, Decatur, Georgia, James Taylor, Atlanta, Georgia, Johnny Taylor (Ann), College Park, Georgia and Roger Taylor, Atlanta, Georgia; great nieces Sheryl Venson, Brenda Venson, Brianna Venson, Sasha Venson, Tricia Taylor and Tameka Taylor; great nephews, Kelby Venson, Sr., Leonte Venson, Kelvin Venson, Johnny Taylor, Jr., Joseph Taylor, Marco Venson, Eric Taylor, Henry Venson, Jr., Dexter Taylor Kelby Venson, Jr., and Ralphael Baker; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rev. John R. Smith

Rev. John R. Smith, age 78, 224 West 3rd Avenue, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Magnolia Manor of Marion County.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the New Home Baptist Church, Power Station Road, Buena Vista, Georgia. Reverend Bruce McKenzie will officiate. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born July 30, 1923 in Cuthbert, Randolph County, Georgia to the late Mary Willis Holmes. He was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Smith. He was married to Nora Brown Smith May 3, 1998. After many dedicated years of service, he retired in 1991 from Cargil as a machine operator. He served in the United States Army for 16 years. After service, he lived in Connecticut before returning to his hometown of Cuthbert, Georgia. He joined Quebec Baptist Church of Ellaville, Georgia, under the leadership of Reverend J.H. Hollis.

Survivors are his wife, Nora Smith, Buena Vista, Georgia; children, Patricia Belton, Hartford, Connecticut; stepchildren, Willie Clarence Smith, Peru and Samuel Brown, Augusta, Georgia; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; siblings, Willie Brown (Charlotte), Buffalo, New York, Cleveland Brown (Lucille), Florida, and Martha Reddix, Batavia, New York; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mr. Willie Kertis Jolly, age 52, 405 A Country Club Road, Montezuma, Georgia passed Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Flint River Community Hospital, Montezuma, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday morning, May 28, 2011 at the St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Corner of Russell & Johnson Streets, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Reverend Rodney Duncan will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oglethorpe City Cemetery.

Willie Kertis Jolly was born May 15, 1959 in Ideal, Macon County, Georgia to the late Miss Lessie L. Ellis and the late Elgie Jolly. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Thelma Jolly, Betty Ann Butler, Cornelia “Nita” Ellis and W. C. Jolly. He was educated in the public school systems of Macon County, Georgia where he attended D. F. Douglass High School and Cook County, Illinois where he attended Marshall High School.

Willie was lovingly called “Jolly”, “Kertis” and “Uncle” by his beloved family and friends. He was a merry and cheerful person that love his family unconditionally.

Survivors are four sisters, Annie Ellis, Perry, Georgia, Anner Pearl Law (Richard), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Margaret Harris, Montezuma, Georgia, Rosie Lee Jolly, Chicago, Illinois and a loving and devoted nephew reared as a brother, Eddie Ellis (Hattie), Oglethorpe, Georgia; aunt, Wilma Jolly, Atlanta, Georgia; great aunt, Jossie Meadows, Oglethorpe, Georgia; devoted friends, Paul Dail, Roy Barker, Donnie McDonald, Walter Payne, Doug Hawk and Dot Hawk all of Montezuma, Georgia; special friends, Gwendolyn Joiner and son, G. Joiner, both of Montezuma, Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews including, Tara, Tawanda, Kimberly, LaShonda, Anthony, Jeffrey, Timothy, and Michael; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Ruby Lee Gordon Towns, age 64, 450 Howell Road, Byromville, Georgia passed Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia of Macon.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.

Ruby was born March 5, 1947 in Dooling, Dooly County, Georgia to the late John Gordon and Annie Kate McClendon. She acquired her education in the public school system of Dooly County. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was formerly employed as a Caregiver at Southern Living of Vienna, Georgia.

She was married to the late Otis Towns, Jr. and was blessed to be the mother of six children; Susie Mae Towns and Marquis Towns both preceded her in death.

Survivors include a beloved companion of twelve years, Richard Diachuk, Byromville, Georgia; four children, Tharetha Towns (Willie), Annie Towns, Christopher Towns and Geneva Towns all of Byromville, Georgia; sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; five siblings, Victoria McClendon, Ft. Valley, Georgia, Annie Lois Austin, St. Petersburg, Florida, Eddie Frank Simmons (Robin), Stone Mountain, Georgia, Glenn McClendon (Gloria) Covington, Georgia and John Henry Gordon (Kay Francis), St. Petersburg, Florida; brother-in-law, Jimmy Towns, Byromville, Georgia; aunt, Flora Mae Robinson, Buena Vista, Georgia; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Robert “O. C.“ Harp, age 79 of Hart Harbor Health Care Center of Jacksonville, Florida passed Tuesday, May 3, 2011. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery Family Lot, Ideal, Georgia.

Robert "O. C." Harp was born August 11, 1931 in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia to the late Edith Mae Harp.  He was educated in the public school system of Macon County, Georgia. Four siblings preceded him in death, Lester Harp, Mary Lois Tookes, Geraldine Washington and Autra Mae Tookes. He moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he pursued a job in long distant tractor trailer driving. "O. C." as he was called by family and friends accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the church in Jacksonville, Florida. After many dedicated years of service, he retired.

Survivors are a sister-in-law, Mattie Pearl Harp, Oglethorpe, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Edith Washington, Georgia Ann Washington, Sarah Washington, all of Jacksonville, Florida, Linda Washington, Mattie Zell Harp, Joan Harp Rocquemore, Glandice Fitzhugh, Lamar Tookes (Cynthia), Dorothy Harp, all of Atlanta, Georgia, Easter Tookes, Sandra Gail Washington, Jerry Washington, Margaret English, Mary Ann Edward, Irma Tookes, Dottie Tookes, all of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Milton Tookes (Charlene), Station in Tennessee, Lois Rice (Hargis), Perry, Georgia, Gloria Dean Thomas (Rev.
