Mr. Elzie Cephus age 70, departed his earthly life on Sunday October 30, 2022, at The Lodge, Warner Robins, Georgia. A precious one from us is gone; a voice we love is still. A place is vacant in our hearts that can never more be filled.
The funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary of First United Holiness Church, 324 Engram Street, Montezuma, Georgia. Elder Michael Coley will officiate. Interment will follow at Champ Waters Cemetery, 191 Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
He attended DF Douglass School and worked for The Department of Labor and ADT Systems. He loved fishing and was a quiet man. He was known for his sense of humor, he loved to make his family laugh. Elzie loved his family and will be greatly missed.
Elzie continues to live thorough the life of his five loving children, Zelda (Nathaniel Jr.) Ashmon, Byron, Georgia, Elzie Cephus Jr., Travis (Romona) Cephus both of McDonough, Georgia, Lorenze’ Cephus, Newnan, Georgia, Pamela Allen (Maurice Carnell), Villa Rica, Georgia.
Elzie’s grandchildren: Jasmine Allen, Zariyah Ashmon, Nathaniel Ashmon III, Noah Ashmon; Jaylen Cephus, Carter Cephus, Cali Cephus: Camiyah Cephus, Taylor Coley, Adriel Cephus, and DaJon Cephus. Siblings: Willie Mae Cephus, Greensboro, North Carolina; Mary Emma Davis and Cora Cephus, both of Montezuma, Georgia; Jimmy (Hazel) Cephus and Joseph Cephus, both of Montezuma, Georgia; and Calvin Cephus (Anginette) Cephus of Perry, Georgia; special nephew that was reared as brother Sammie (Tomecca) Cephus, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Brothers in law; Trent (Wanda) Johnson, Peoria, Illnois, Arthur (Aleen) Johnson, Warner Robins, Georgia; Thomas Haugabrook, Montezuma, Georgia; John E. (Tolley) Haugabook, Fort Myers, Florida; Sisters in law; Vanessa Johnson, Perry, Georgia; Bridgette (Paul) Johnson, Macon, Georgia; one aunt Janie Scofield, Montezuma, Georgia; 4 uncles, Walter B.
