Mary Alice Brock

Ms. Mary Alice Martin Brock passed Monday, January 30, 2012.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 224 East, on 255 Tom Adams Road, Montezuma, Georgia. Burial followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Whiteline Street, Montezuma, Georgia.

Ms. Mary Alice Martin Brock, daughter of the late Willie B. Toomer and Margaret Coleman was born on February 1, 1929 in Montezuma, Georgia. She grew up in Montezuma and was educated in Macon County Public School.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and became a member of Harrison Chapel church, where she maintained her membership until death.

Mary was united in Holy matrimony to the late James Alonzo Brock, Sr. and to this union was blessed with six children. She was later blessed with another child through her long union with the late Sammie Lee Turner. One son, Terry Bernard Brock, preceded her in death.

Survivors include six loving children, George A. Brock (Teresa), Margaret A. Jones, Jacqueline Thomas (John), James A. Brock, Jr. (Rose Merry), Michael Brock (Karen) and Sandra Duncan (Calvin). She was also blessed with twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a “special” sister Iris Mitchell and brother, Hollis Toomer (Carol). She also leaves behind three sisters-in-law, Martha Crews, Peggy Johnson and Louise Waters (Hosie), and one brother-in-law, Otis Brock, Jr. (Annette). A multitude of relatives and friends cherish her memory.

Joseph Antonio Hannor, age 36, 406 River Street, Montezuma, Georgia passed Wednesday, January 25, 2012.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church, 415 Hosie Waters Street, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment followed in Champ Waters Cemetery, Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia. The Reverend Hosie Waters, pastor, will officiate.

Joseph Antonio Hannor, "JoJo" as he was affectionately called, was born August 13, 1975 in Americus, Sumter Co., Georgia to the late Jessie Harris and Rose Marie Hannor Harris. He was a 1994 graduate of D. F. Douglass High School, and in 1995 he joined the Magnolia Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Hosie Waters. Being a devoted member he served faithfully and untiringly on the Usher Board Ministry until his health began to decline. For four years Joseph was employed with Advance Drainage System, LLC as a line technician.

Joseph was united in holy matrimony to the former Wendy Mallard and to this union they were blessed with three children: Ji’Selynn, Jayleen and Jolan.

He leaves a legacy of love and golden memories to his beloved children, Ji’Selynn Hannor, Jayleen Hannor and Jolan Hannor all of Montezuma, Georgia; six siblings, Benita Hannor, Nancy Hannor both of Montezuma, Georgia, Marshae Hannor, Atlanta, Georgia, Anthony Harris, Marcus Hannor and Jessie Hannor all of Montezuma, Georgia; thirteen aunts and uncles, Laura Hubbard (Anais), Montezuma, Georgia, Mary Kate Gray, Bronx, New York, Voncile Adams, Carolyn Hannor, Lunelle McDonald all of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Jessie Mae Green, Montezuma, Georgia, Dorothy Gary, Warner Robins, Georgia, Mary Louise Mathis, Niagra Falls, New York, Lewis Hannor, Columbus, Georgia, John Hannor (Annie), East Point, Georgia, James Henry Hannor and Curla Hannor both of Montezuma, Georgia and Nancy Toomer, Orlando, Florida; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ernest “Rev.” Cochran, age 60, 227 May Road, Oglethorpe, Georgia passed Wednesday, January 25, 2012.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at First Salem Baptist Church, Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Ernest was born April 26, 1951 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to the late Jesse Adams, Sr. and Arlee Cochran Ball. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Eloise Felton, Reverend William Felton and Retired Captain David Ball. He was a graduate of Macon County Elementary School and he acquired his high school education from the old historic D. F. Douglass High School. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined the band of Christian believers at the Holy House of God under the pastoralship of Elder Bell Vinson. He was employed with Southern Wood Supplies, Inc. as a machine operator. He was a loyal and dedicated worker. In 1970 he was united in holy matrimony to the former Mary Lillie Hill and to this union they were blessed with four children.

Survivors include a loving and devoted wife of forty two years, Mary Lillie Hill Cochran, Oglethorpe, Georgia; four children, Gary Cochran (Shannon), Ft. Valley, Georgia, Stacy Cochran, Montezuma, Georgia, Tawanda Brown (Alton) and Garrett Cochran all of Oglethorpe, Georgia; six grandchildren and one great grandson; step-father, King Ball, Montezuma, Georgia; step- mother, Doris Adams, Perry, Georgia; fourteen siblings, Willie Lewis Felton, Montezuma, Georgia, Wayne Ball, Atlanta, Georgia, Carol Ball, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Kimberly Ball, Montezuma, Georgia, Yolanda Ball, Perry, Georgia, Michael Ball (Rochelle) and Gilbert Ball (Robin) all of Montezuma, Georgia, Jesse Adams, Larry Adams, Gloria Adams-Brunson (Edward) all of Perry, Georgia, Bobbie Jean Adams, Warner Robins, Georgia, Minnie Denise Adams, Columbus, Georgia, Beverly Andrea Smith (Felton), Warner Robins, Georgia and Pamela Rumph (Stephen) Bonaire, Georgia; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Deacon J. Willie Lee “J. Pan” Green, age 85, 703 Plant Street, Montezuma, Georgia passed Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Montezuma Health Care Center, Montezuma, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Drayton Road, Byromville, Dooly County Georgia. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Reverend Governor Gibson will officiate.

Willie Lee “J. Pan” Green was born May 5, 1926 in Byromville, Dooly County, Georgia to the late Lillie Mae Riley Green and Gilbert Green, Sr. He acquired his education in the public school system of Dooly County. At an early age he joined the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board ministry.

He was married to the late Abbie Lee Felton Green and to this union they were blessed with ten children; five children preceded him in death, Willie Green, Jr., Annie Lee Green, Reatha Mae Green, Deloise Law and Evelyn Brown; he was preceded in death by a sister and brother, Gilbert Green, Jr.

Later in life he married the former Pearlie Mae Patrick who died September 11, 2009 and to this union he was blessed with three stepchildren, Takiya Patrick preceded him in death.

After forty years of dedicated services he retired from Southern Frozen Food, Inc. as a fork lift driver.

Survivors are his beloved children, Lillie Mae Green, Montezuma, Georgia, Eddie Green, (Regina), and Sharon Furlough, all of Camden, New Jersey, Cynthia Green, Sandra Green, and Tim Solomon all of Montezuma, Georgia; two step-children, Freddie Patrick, (Ruby) Atlanta, Georgia and Jeffery Patrick, Batavia, New York; two sons-in-law, including a devoted son-in-law, Minister Johnny Law and Emmitt Brown both of Montezuma, Georgia; thirty one grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Eva Green, Montezuma, Georgia, Inez Barron, Byromville, Georgia, Linda Adams, Montezuma, Georgia, James Barron, Chicago, Illinois, Wayne Barron, Macon, Georgia, Curtis Barron, Montezuma, Georgia, Sarah Butler, (Stacey), Dayton City, California, Willie B. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Travelers Home Baptist Church, Travelers Home Road, Ideal, Macon County, Georgia. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery, Travelers Home Road, Ideal, Macon County, Georgia. The Reverend Carl Munns, pastor, will officiate.

Mrs. Willie Faye Lucas Raines was born July 18, 1918 in Crawford County, Georgia to the late Delann Lucas and Minus Duncan. She was educated in the old historical Reeves Public School of Crawford County. At an early age, she joined the Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

In May 1945, Willie Faye was united in Holy matrimony to her one and only love, Freddie Lee Raines. To this union, they were blessed with six children. She was blessed to rear Emma Jo Cook as her own, after the death of her mother, Emma Louise Raines. Willie Faye was preceded in death by her husband and four children, Rosa Mae Jones, Emma Jo Cook, Robert N. Raines and Agnes Raines Walker. She was also preceded in death by two siblings, Minnie Reeves and Paul Avery. After uniting in Holy matrimony, she and her family moved to Macon County, Georgia where she moved her membership to Travelers Home Missionary Baptist Church of the Grangerville Community. Willie Faye was a dedicated and faithful member. She served on the Women Missionary Auxiliary Board, Mother of the Church and supported every facet of the church she loved so well.

Willie Faye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She leaves a legacy of love and golden memories to her beloved family, which include three children, Annie Jo Phillips, Americus, Georgia, Ilene Raines and Eloise Raines, both of Ideal, Georgia; two sons-in-law, J. T. Jones, Jr., Roberta, Georgia, and James Walker, Jr., Americus, Georgia; four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Nancy Bivins, Juliette Raines, both of Ideal, Georgia, Bessie L. Raines, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Joyce Raines, Bennie Raines, both of Montezuma, Georgia and Willie L. Raines, Mauk, Georgia; twenty-eight grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Survivors are a beloved son, Mark Anthony Hunt, Oglethorpe, Georgia; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, retired veteran Charles Byrd, Jr. (Nicole), Houston, Texas and Major Malcolm Byrd (Kathi), stationed in Montgomery, Alabama; one niece, Chantell Byrd; one nephew, Elijah M. Deacon Willie Clifford Hicks, age 62, 235 South Broad Street, Apt 408A, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Saturday, January 7, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Bridges Street, Buena Vista, Georgia, Rev. Justin Johnson, pastor officiated. Burial followed in the Old Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Marion County.

Deacon Willie Clifford Hicks was born November 17, 1949 to the late Edress Hicks and Louise Swan Hicks. He was the youngest son of six children. He was educated in the Marion County School System. After graduating from High School he served honorably in the United States Air Force.

On July 6, 1974 he married Alma Joyce Carter. They were together 11 years. To this union two children were born. Rodney and Pamela.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Master Joseph Davis.

He was a faithful lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Buena Vista, Georgia where he served as a Deacon and an Usher.

Tiny or Tank, as he was affectionately called, will be remembered for his love and family and friends, as well as his willingness to help others. He was diligent in working hard and helping those in need.

He leaves to cherish his memory his close companion Shirley Wade Frazier, Buena Vista, Georgia; three children, Rodney Hicks, Ellaville, Georgia, Pamela Hicks Davis (Joseph), Jessica Frazier all of Buena Vista, Georgia: His extended family Mary Gladden and William “Billy”Wade, both of Buena Vista, Georgia; seven grandchildren; five siblings; Revonia Britten, Atlanta, Georgia, Walter Hicks, Sr., Buena Vista, Georgia, Mamie Grimes (Earnest), East Point, Georgia, Andrew Hicks (Mamie), Tucson, Arizona, Virginia Rogers, Riverdale, Georgia; two uncles, Emmitt Swan and H.P. Mr. Charlie Fred Bateman was born March 21, 1944 in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia to the late David and Annie Lou Proctor Bateman; two siblings also preceded him in death Willie A. Bateman and Louvenia Docks. He was educated in Schley County School System. After graduation he move to Atlanta where he made his home. He worked several jobs until his health began to failed. After many dedicated years of service he retired as waiter.

He leaves to cherish his memories one son, Rickey Lamar Bateman; four brothers, Robert L. Bateman, Lloyd Bateman and David Bateman, Jr. all of Atlanta, Georgia, and Henry L. Bateman of Huston, Texas; three sisters, Minnie B. Mrs. Mattie Will Williams Crumbley, age 64, Pecan Village, Apt #30 Ellaville, Georgia passed Wednesday, January 4, 2012.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Union Hill A.M.E. Church, Spivey Street, Ellaville, Georgia. Interment followed in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Corner Mill Road, Ellaville, Georgia. Elder E. J. Lundy, Pastor of Tabernacle of Faith Holiness Church, Spivey Street, Ellaville, Georgia officiated.

On March 8, 1947 God blessed the late Fee Arthus Williams and Laura Hartage Williams with a beautiful girl whom they named, Mattie Will. Mattie was one of five siblings born to Fee Arthus and Laura. She now joined her beloved sister, Margarine Williams Robertson, her parents and her devoted nephew, Leon Sales, who have gone on before her. Mattie was a 1966 graduate of the old historic John Lewis High School in Schley County. Mattie was united in holy matrimony to the late Marvin Crumbley.

Being reared in a Christian family she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined Concord Holiness Church in Schley County. Later, she joined the band of believers at Tabernacle of Faith Holiness Church of Ellaville, Georgia under the leadership of Elder E. J. Lundy.

Mattie worked many years as a food service worker in various restaurants. After many dedicated years of service, she retired as a custodian from Schley County Board of Education.

Mattie leaves a legacy of golden memories and love to her beloved daughter, Marilyn Johnson, (Roland Aldridge), Ellaville, Georgia; a loving friend, James "Larger" Hart, Ellaville, Georgia; three siblings, Corine Williams Respess, Mary B. Williams Sales, both of Ellaville, Georgia and Johnny (Emily) Williams, Atlanta, Georgia; one aunt, Essie Mae Hartage, Vienna, Georgia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Robert (Myrtice) Crumbley, Helen McMurray, Zelma Holt, all of Buena Vista, Georgia, Rev. Samuel (Jennifer) Crumbley, Newton, Georgia, Maxine Crumbley, Jefferson, Georgia, William Crumbley and Debra (Rev. Mrs. Lula Mae Hart Walters, age 75, 1836 Whitehouse Road, Montezuma, Georgia passed Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, Macon, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Shade Arnold Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Andersonville National Cemetery, Monday, January 9, 2012 at 10:00 AM.

Mrs. Lula Mae Hart Walters was born October 7, 1936 in Ideal, Macon County, Georgia to the late Lester Hart and Maggie Nelson Hart. Lula was preceded in death by three of her siblings: Betty Jean Hart Tookes, Laura L. Hart Bolton, and Lester Hart, Jr. Lula was educated in the public school system of Macon County where she attended the historic Ideal Elementary School and Macon County High Training School. On December 22, 1951 she was united in holy matrimony to W. L. Walters and to this union they were blessed with eight children.

Lula acquired her Christian training in the local churches of her community. After uniting in holy matrimony with her one and only love W. L. she joined the Rocky Mount Christian Methodist Episcopal Church of Garden Valley. Lula also worked at Southern Frozen Food, Inc. Montezuma, Georgia for a number of untiring years as a line technician and a vegetable grader.

She leaves a legacy of golden memories to her beloved husband and children: survivors are a beloved husband of sixty years, W. L. Walters, Montezuma, Georgia; eight children and their spouses, Ernestine (Rev. Johnny) Sanders, Andersonville, Georgia, Alice (Frederick) Jackson, Montezuma, Georgia, Willie L. (Shirley) Walters, Reynolds, Georgia, Mary Frances (Morris) Engram, Detroit, Michigan, Foster (Shonda) Walters, Warner Robins, Georgia, Lester (Louise) Walters, J. W.
