Jerome Ramsey, age 64, passed on July 23, 2023.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Josh Gibson Center, 20 Gibson Way, Buena Vista, Georgia. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, 109 Moody Road, Tazewell, Georgia.

Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.

Jerome Ramsey was born March 3, 1959, to the late Johnny Ramsey Sr. and the late Bertha Mae Walker Ramsey.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Ramsey, and nephew, Sherrod Ramsey.  He was educated in the public school system of Marion County and was a graduate of Tri-County High School in 1976. He worked various jobs throughout his life as a roofer. He was joined in holy matrimony on March 27, 1981, to the love of his life the late Mozelle McBride-Ramsey and to this union they were blessed with five wonderful children.   He was affectionately  as “Bubba” or “Hicks."

He leaves to cherish his memories to his devoted children, Denise Ramsey (Columbus, GA), Michael Ramsey (Columbus, GA), Jessica Ramsey (Buena Vista, GA), Chardonnay Ramsey (Buena Vista, GA) and Lorenzo Ramsey (Buena Vista, GA), Makayla Josey (Andre) (Stationed in Fort Carson, CO); siblings Johnny Ramsey Sr. (Brinda), Palm Bay, Florida, Robert Ramsey, Beverly Crumbley (Irvin), and Brenda Walton, all of Buena Vista, Georgia, Diann Berryhill (John), Americus, GA, Jimmy Ramsey, Augusta, GA, Dennis Ramsey, Tallahassee, FL, Wes Scott, Buena Vista, GA; aunts, Sarah Vauss, Decatur, Georgia, Mary Alice Paggett (Williams), Grace Brown (Glen), Gloria Broxton, all of Atlanta, Georgia, and Annie Pearl Ramsey-Jordan, Melborne, Florida; uncles, David Walker, Atlanta, Georgia and Frank Ramsey; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Whole Truth International Ministries Inc., 502 South Lee Street, Americus, Georgia. Burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery, Ashby Street, Americus, Georgia.

Louise Hodge born March 2, 1933, to the parentage of Ethel Carter and RJ Hodge.
 
Louise, a Florida native, resided in Americus, Ga until God called her home.
 
Louise worked as a private sitter for many years. She was a faithful member of Whole Truth International Church till her health failed. Her pasttime was fishing and going to yard sales. She was a collector of ancient items.
 
Predeceased in death by her parents, sister and 2 brothers alongside of her son Leroy Hodge, her loving  grandson Patrick Clark, and devoted friend for more than 30 + yrs Gloria Brown.
 
She raised a lineage of 5 Generations, her kids Larry Hodge (Annie), one daughter Patricia Clark, Eddie James Hodge, Dwight Hodge, a grandson Markece Sanford, who she raised as her own and a devoted daughter Alice McGrady.
 
Her grandchildren Delanda Hodge, Renae Hodge, Freddie Clark, Shandrekia Kimbrough, Dwight Hodge Jr., Deondre Hodge, and Shamekia Angry.
 
Great grandchildren La’Asia Walker, Jaquan Jackson, Jarkece, Kadon, Pryce, Karter, Schedata Wilson, Layshia, Kyderrious, Jaylin, Quantavious, DJ, and a Devoted granddaughter Tiffany Gordon.
 
Great great grandchildren Jaden Cook whom she raised in her home, Jakaylen, Raylen, Blade, and Kamiriah Jackson.
 
A host of loving family and friends, Ms. Marrietta Walker, Ms. Mattie  Walters, and Mrs. Nettie Jones- Davis.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel,  607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Mechell was born on July 21,1972 in Buena Vista, Georgia to Christine Jones and the late Otis Smith. She was educated in the public school system of Florida and was a graduate of Carol City High School, Miami, Florida.  She furthered her education and received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Grand Canyon University as well as her master’s degree. She was employed at Sumter County Intermediate School as a Teacher. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Buena Vista, Georgia. Mechell was united in holy matrimony on November 12, 1999, to Ken Sparks and to this union two children were born.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her husband Ken Sparks, Americus, GA; two children Jasmine Sparks, Americus, GA, Kayvon Sparks; mother Christine Jones, Americus, GA; siblings Lue Ann Hunt (Dadrian) Fayetteville, NC, Tracy Smith, Americus, GA; mother in law Hattie Sparks, Columbus, GA; sisters/brothers- in- law Kim Durham (Eric), Atlanta, GA, Doretha Town (Michael), Columbus, Eugene Holt (Mary), Columbus, GA, Cynthia Mitchell (Clyde), Columbus, GA, LaShawn Holt (Steve) Salinas, Ecuador and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces,  nephews, cousins , other relatives and friends.

Gladys Dean Tymes Johnson was born in Buena Vista, Georgia to the late Oris Murray Tymes. Gladine, as she was known by family and friends, was preceded in death by three siblings Emma Street, David Tymes, Leonard Tymes, and one grandson Stephen Tymes. She was educated in the public school system of Marion County and was a graduate of Marion County High School. She was employed at Eagle Foods in Buena Vista where she worked various positions. Gladys loved all sports, she was a big supporter during her grandson's games. Gladys will forever be remembered in the hearts of her family and friends as full of life, living life just how she wanted to.
 
Although she is gone she will never be forgotten by her daughter Stephanie Tymes, Buena Vista, Georgia, two grandchildren Kelby Tymes and Madyson Morton, both of Buena Vista, Georgia; siblings Mary Lee Tymes, Winter Haven, Florida, Robert Tymes Jr. (Gwen), Buena Vista, Georgia, Mary Helen Tymes, Columbus, Georgia, Robert Tymes (Jessie Bell), Buena Vista, Georgia, Samuel Tymes (Sharon), Buena Vista, Georgia, Linda Robinson (Charlie), Columbus, Ga; brother in law Nathaniel Street, Buena Vista, Georgia; aunts and uncles Betty Ross, St. Lucie, Florida, Bruce Murray, Miami, Florida, Jonah Murray, Tony Murray, both of San Jose California, John Brown, Americus, Elijah Murray (Linda), Ellaville, Georgia, Ralph Murray (Pearl), Buna Vista, Georgia, Betty Lue Murray, Columbus, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends.

Kevin Watson was born on October 23, 1966, in Hammonton, New Jersey, to the late L.W. Sonny Watson and Betty Jean Watson. He was educated in the public school system of Atlantic County, where he attended Buena Regional High School. His wife, Angela Simmons-Watson, preceded him in death, along with his oldest brother, Clearance "Pete" Watson (RaMona Coston), and niece, Jalisa R. Watson.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving son, DeVonte Watson-Wilkins (Patterson, NJ); loving mother Betty Jean Watson-Waddell, Montezuma, GA: siblings, Clifford E. Watson (Newtonville, NJ), Carl Watson, wife LaDonna K. Watson (Newtonville, NJ), Dellresa Y. Watson (Charlotte, NC), Erica N. Waddell (Warner Robins, GA); God-Sister Loretta Green; nephews and nieces, DeSiree Watson-Ruiz (Joe Ruiz), Joshua Watson, Carl Watson Jr., ShaNayia L. Watson, Crystal L. Watson, Caleb D. Monroe Turner, Jr., the second child, born June 19, 1948, to the late Monroe Sr. and Rosa Pearl Turner, in Miami Florida. Monroe met and married the love of his life on July 14, 1969. From this union one child was born. Monroe acquired his formal education and graduated from D.F. Douglass Senior High School in Montezuma, Georgia-Macon County. Monroe was employed and retired from Miami Dade Public Schools. Monroe dedicated his life to Christ many years ago and became a dedicated member at New Birth Baptist Church in Miami, Florida. Our beloved Monroe slept peacefully into the arms of the Lord on July 6, 2023.

Monroe was preceded in death by his brother, Leon Daniels. Monroe leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Rosie Lee Turner; daughter, Nanette Ogburn; son and daughter-in-law, Dedrick V. Carr, Sr. (Michelle); two grandsons, Marquiece Ogburn and Derick V. Carr, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Jeremiah Ogburn and Arianna Ogburn; brother and sister-in-law, Alton Turner (Barbara L.); sister, Elaine Styles; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Alean was born on September 29, 1934, to the late Deese McKenzie and the late Annie Westbrook McKenzie in Macon County, Georgia. She was married to the late Willie L. Burnam Sr. She was blessed with four sons, two sons and two daughters preceded her in death Willie L. Burnam Jr., Curtis Reese, Mary Lee Cross, and Wilmatine Porter. She was also preceded in death by all of her siblings Mary Fredrick, Victoria Thomas, Mildred Mae McKenzie, Martha Odom, Velma McKenzie, John S. McKenzie, John T. McKenzie, King David McKenzie, and Elisha B McKenzie, sisters in law Alice Mae McKenzie, Johnnie Mae McKenzie, and Mira Bess McKenzie. She was a member of Shade Arnold Baptist Church where she served as a Missionary Auxiliary Board member and President of the Senior Choir. Alean retired from Southern Frozen Food as a line technician after thirty-eight plus years of dedicated service. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County whereas she attended Flint River Farm School.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her three sons Larry McKenzie (Sharon McKenzie), LaGrange, Ga and Gerald Burnam (Sheila Schofield Burnam), Montezuma, Ga, Larry Burnam; a daughter in law Rashida Reese; grandchildren, Tamika Daniel McKenzie, Tameka Felton, Camilla Hannah, Reginald Solomon, Sky Ellis, Shanikki  Schofield, Marita Schofield, Mathew Schofield, Jacqueline Davis, Rochelle Sanders, and Willie Lee Burnam, III, Karen Tye, Mason Larry, Veta Larry, Tyron Burnam, Robby Burnam, Janelle Weaver; a host of great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Mona McKenzie and a host of nieces, nephews including a special nephew Paul J. McKenzie, Sr.; great nephews whom she reared, Paul J. McKenzie, Jr., Preston J. McKenzie, and Printin J. McKenzie, cousins, and friends.

Jimmie Lee Asberry was born June 10, 1933, to the late Roy Asberry and the late Cora Coogle Asberry in Sumter County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by eleven siblings George Asberry, Lille Asberry, Julia Mae Nelms, Josephine Higgins, Tommy Asberry, Dave Asberry, Willie Roy Asberry, Paul Asberry, Lamon Asberry, Roy Asberry, and Johnny Asberry. He was educated in the Sumter County School System. He joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church whereas he served on the Deacon Board Ministry. He was married to Josephine Williamson and to this union they were blessed with two children. Jimmie worked various jobs as a bus driver for Sumter County Board of Education,  a Carpenter with Sammie Black and with the City of Andersonville. 

He leaves to cherish his memories to his children Bernardine Gibbon (Rev. Perry Gibbon), Andersonville, Georgia, Jimmie Asberry Jr. (Evelyn) Ellaville, Georgia; a nephew who was like a son Jerome Asberry; 16 grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; 1 great great great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Douglas Bullard was born on November 2, 1949, to the late Roosevelt Bullard and the late Lois Bullard.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Ardelia Bullard, and one son, Barry Bullard. He was educated in the public school system in Florida. He was a self-employed certified plumber. Douglas enjoyed listening to music and playing checkers. He will forever be remembered in the hearts of his beloved family. 

He leaves to cherish his memories to his three children, Christie Norfous, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Frederick Norfous Sr., Delray Beach, Florida, and Bridgette Bullard, Tifton, Georgia; five grandchildren, Jaylin Bullard, Jalayia Bullard, Bri'Auna Bullard, Amirah Norfus, Frederick Norfus Jr., Paris Norfus; a nephew, Rodney Bullard; a host of cousins and a great lifetime friend Pauline Graham.
