Fannie Paul Coffee

​Fannie Paul Coffee, age 93, 308 Martin Luther King, Jr., Ideal, Georgia, passed Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at her home. 
 
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Faith Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Brooks Road, Ideal, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Church Cemetery, Brooks Mill Road, Rupert, Macon County, Georgia.  The Reverend E. Terry, pastor, will officiate. 
 
Mrs. Fannie Paul Coffee was born in the state of Alabama March 15, 1925 to the late Fannie Mae Simpson and the late Clifton Warmack.  She was the widow of the late Reverend Dewey D. Coffee.  She was blessed to be the mother of four children. One daughter, Annie Jewel LaGrone, and one granddaughter, Linda Gail Fulks, preceded her in death.
 
Being a born again Christian, Sister Coffee joined the band of Christian believers at Faith Memorial C.M.E. Church where she exemplified her worth on the Stewardess Board and supported every facet of the church she loved so well.
 
After twenty-three years of dedicated services she retired as a cook with the Ideal Nursing Home, Ideal, Georgia.
 
She leaves a legacy of love and spiritual inspiration to her beloved children, Flora Mae Bogin, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Johnny LaGrone,Sr., Detroit, Michigan and Yvonne Aldridge, Ideal, Georgia; fifteen grandchildren, Nikia Smith, Montgomery, Alabama, Terry Aldridge, Jr. (Patrice), Atlanta, Georgia, Steven Aldridge, Alexander Aldridge and Felton Aldridge, all of Ideal, Georgia,  Valencia LaGrone, Johnny LaGrone, Jr. Marshan LaGrone Amber LaGrone, Marcelle and Asia, all of Detroit, Michigan and Bernard Bogin, Craig Bogan and Sharon Bogin all of Florida; a host of beloved great grandchildren; a loving and devoted friend, Ruby Polson, Ideal, Georgia;  and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Mamie Lou Gary McKellar, age 86, 505 College Street, Fort Valley, Georgia passed on December 28, 2018 at the Medical Center of Peach County Navicent Health, Byron, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Shady Grove Baptist Church, 128 White Water Road, Ideal, Georgia. Rev. David Thomas, Pastor will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Felton Chapel Independent Church Cemetery in Oglethorpe, Georgia.
 
Mamie was born on October 23, 1932 in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia to the late Joseph Gary and the late Mary Lizzie McKellar Gary. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ossie Lois McKellar Taylor; three small children, siblings, Annie Mae Trice, Ocie Lee Harris and Lillie Bell Walker and Robert Lee Garry. She was educated in the public school system of Schley County. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was a faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church of Ideal, Georgia where she enjoyed singing in the church choir until her health declined.
 
Mamie was married to the late Andrew “Sack” McKellar Sr. and to this union twelve children were born. Mamie enjoyed life as a homemaker.
 
She leaves a lifetime of memories to her children, Tom Gary (Elma), Hartford, Connecticut, Alton McKellar, Fort Valley, Georgia, Eddie Roy McKellar (Mary Gillcrest), Garden Valley, Georgia, Larry McKellar (Angela), Fred Douglas McKellar, all of Fort Valley, Georgia, Andrew McKellar, Jr. (Felicia), Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Sandra Jean McKellar, Fort Valley, Georgia; 23 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; siblings, Arrie Dean Walker, Oglethorpe, Georgia, James L Garry (Annie Mae), Hartford, Connecticut; brother-in-law, Robert McKellar (Val), Rebecca, Georgia; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends of the family.

Herman Tymes

​Mr. Herman Tymes, age 69, 507 Tymes Road, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Josh B. Gibson Center, 20 Gibson Way, Buena Vista, Georgia. Burial will follow in the New Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy 41 South, Buena Vista, Georgia.

Herman Tymes was born in Marion County, Georgia on July 17, 1949 to the late Annie Slaughter Tymes and the late Eathern Tymes, Sr. He was educated in the public school system of Marion County. In 1967, he graduated from Buena Vista High School. In 2011, he retired from FedEx after two decades of dedicated and faithful service. Herman accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at a young age. A dutiful servant of the Lord, he volunteered his time at St. John Ministries, Tampa, Florida and St. Mark Baptist Church, Buena Vista, Georgia.  An avid musician, Herman utilized his talents by serving as a bassist in the church band. Additionally, he served in the parking lot and bus ministries. In the year 1987, he was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, the former Rosalee Brown.
 
On Wednesday, December 26th, Herman departed this earthly life for his heavenly home. Herman leaves a legacy of inspiration and love to his family which includes his devoted wife of 31 years, Rosalee; his loving daughter, Vertrell Griffin (Darrin) and his devoted son, Damien Tymes (Christina). Herman adored his grandchildren: Cierra, Joshua, Isaiah, and Nora. His caring siblings: Eva Thornton, Accokeek, Maryland, Nora Pless (George Jr.) Americus, Georgia, Eathern Times Jr. (Ardessa) Buena Vista, Georgia, Hubert Tymes, Buena Vista, GA, Patricia Nixon (David), Newnan, Georgia, Edward Tymes (Roslyn) Midland, Georgia. His sisters-in-law: Helen Wilson, Evelyn Russell (James), Dolores Brown, Frances Tymes, Rosabelle Tymes. His brothers-in-law: Richard Brown (Cecelia) and Kenneth Faulcon (Timetra); and uncle-in-law William Washington (Benzena). Herman was preceded in death by three brothers. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Justin Riley, age 27, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2018.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 29, 2018, Williams Road Church of Christ, 110 Williams Road, Americus, Georgia. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery, Ashby Street, Americus, Georgia.

Justin was born March 8, 1991 in Americus, Georgia to Patricia and Vincent Riley. Justin was a 2009 graduate of Americus High School. He truly lived his life to the fullest through simple pleasure traveling, working, shopping, and spending time with friends and family. “He was the life of the party." Justin was preceded in death by one son, Cayleb Ferrell Riley.

He is survived by his parents, Patricia Riley and Vincent Riley, both of Americus, Georgia; grandparents, John and Tommie L. Bruce Sr. of Americus, Georgia; one sister, Fierra Riley and one brother, Jamarcus Riley (Shalez) of Americus, Georgia; a beautiful niece, Ajouri Riley; a girlfriend, Erin Adams of Atlanta, Georgia; uncles and aunts, John L. Bruce, Jr., Americus, Georgia, Warren and Trice Bruce of Macon, Georgia, Corey Hill (Marrissa) of Americus, Georgia, Conchuri Bruce of Americus, Georgia, George Allen (Reen) of Americus, Georgia, Diane Allen of Atlanta, Georgia, Rosey Bell of Americus, Georgia; a host of cousins and other relatives and friends including close friends James Thomas, Jamarcus Regan, Reginald Harris, and Alex Brown. He touched many lives.

Laverne Mangram, age 65, passed on December 19, 2018 surrounded by family.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Felton Chapel Independent Church, GA HWY 128, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.    

The Breath of Life:
Laverne Mangram was born June 6, 1953 to the late Esker Mangram, Sr. and Doris Jolly Mangram in Macon County Georgia.  She was educated in the public school system of Macon County.  Laverne was preceded in death by two sisters, Eloise Mangram and Pastor Annie Pearl Williams, and two brothers, Grady Mangram and Esker Mangram, Jr.

The Tools of Service:
At an early age Laverne joined the Felton Chapel C.M.E. Church.  She received the holy ghost under the leadership of the late Pastor Annie Pearl Williams at the Upper Room Apostolic Holiness Church.  She was later ordained as an Evangelist under the leadership of Pastor Parker.  She was a member of the Secret Place Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Linda Forbes. 

Laverne was a 1972 graduate of the historic D.F. Douglas High School in Montezuma Georgia.  She was employed by Southern Frozen Foods, Macon County Board of Education, Ideal Nursing Home, and Home Nursing until she retired in 2015.
 
The Flight of a Lifetime:
The final chapter of Evangelist Laverne Mangram’s life was written on December 19, 2018 11:30 p.m. at the home of her sister Florene Smith where she was surrounded by family that loved and cared for her.
 
The Winds Beneath Her Wings:
Laverne leaves to cherish her precious memories to six siblings, Ollie Mae Mangram and Margaret McLaughlin (Joe), both of Jamaica, New York, Florene Smith, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Mary Ann Fields, College Park, Georgia, Anthony Wayne Mangram, Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Goldie Hairston (John), Atlanta, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, including a devoted great-niece, Raven Smith, and nephew, Roderick Stewart. ​

Maytesha Pauline Hicks was born March 10, 1981 in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Irene Hicks and late Charlie Hicks. She was educated in the public school system of Hartford, Connecticut. Maytesha was employed in the Flint River Hospital as a CNA.
 
She leaves to cherish her memories to her precious children, Isaiah Hicks, Brianna Marie Hicks, Cameron Hicks, Zoey Wilder, Lauren Wilder, all of Oglethorpe, Georgia; a precious  grandson  Aydin Hicks, Oglethorpe, Georgia; a devoted companion, Victor Wilder, Oglethorpe, Georgia; grandparents, Nellie Ogburn (George), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Earlene Morin (Richard), Hartford Connecticut; four siblings, Shayona Daniels, Warner Robins, Georgia,  Joyia Hicks, Bettina Hicks,  Hartford, Connecticut, Dallas Collins, Miami, Florida, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews other relatives and friends.

Peggy Denise Collins

​Peggy Denise Collins of Oglethorpe, Georgia,  age 46, passed on December 21, 2018.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 201 Chatham Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will at Lebanon Cemetery 903 Travelers Home Church Road, Ideal, Georgia.

Peggy Denise Collins was born September 30, 1972 to late Hansel Walker and Nellie Kate Collins in Americus, Georgia. She attended the public school system of Macon County and was a 1991 graduate of D.F. Douglass High. She acquired numerous degrees including an Associate Degree in Accounting from South Georgia Technical College and a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice for Fort Valley State University. She was a faithful member of Travelers Home Church and taught Sunday School, President of Youth Ministry and she was a member of the Travelers Home Church choir.  She was also a member of the Payne Bottom Community Club. Peggy worked as a caretaker for the Methodist Children Home in Macon, Georgia and various other jobs. 

On Friday morning, December 21, 2018, Peggy departed her Earthly life in the loving surroundings of her family. A Precious one from us is gone: a voice we love is still. A place is vacant in our hearts, that can never more be filled.

Survivors include her mom, Nellie Kate Collins, Oglethorpe, Georgia; daughter, Shontavious Ivory; sons, Joshua K. Collins, and Tarrius K. Mann; two grandchildren, Dontavious Ahmad Griggs and Khloe Rouland, all of Oglethorpe, Georgia; a devoted fiancé, Craig Smith, Oglethorpe, Georgia; four sisters, Lillie (Eugene) Hill, Elois Brown, Nellie Collins, and Willie Pearl Collins, all of Oglethorpe, Georgia; two brothers, John (Angela) Collins, Kathleen, Georgia, Kenneth Hughey, Oglethorpe, Georgia; god-sisters, Deneen Manning, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Cathy Cochran, Macon, Georgia, aunts, Annie Bivins, Rosa Bivins, both of Oglethorpe, Georgia; uncles Arthur (Rebecca)  Bivins, Warner Robins, Georgia, Albert Bivins, Oglethorpe, Georgia; great uncles and aunts, Willie Lee Raines, Bennie Raines both of Montezuma, Georgia, Juliette Ranies, Ideal, Georgia, Joyce Raines, Montezuma, Georgia, and Bessie Lee Raines, Oglethorpe, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Oscar Lee Mercer, Jr,  age 53, 174 Walnut Avenue, Leesburg, Georgia passed December 19, 2018 at his home.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Zion Hill Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 118 (Allen Street), Leslie, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.
 
Oscar, Jr. was born February 11, 1965 to the late Oscar Lee Mercer, Sr. and the late Catherine Thomas Mercer.   He is the grandson of the late Reverend Leroy Thomas, the late Susie Mae and Lonnie Mercer Sr., and he was also preceded in death by one sister, the late Evangelist Cathy Mercer.
 
Survivors include a loving and devoted maternal grandmother, Mrs. Clara Thomas, Leslie, Georgia; six siblings, Gwenevere Adams (Mohandas), Albany, Georgia, Steven Mercer, Albany, Georgia, Kelvin Mercer (Tadia), Leesburg, Georgia, Melvin Mercer (Sherronda), Warner Robins, Georgia, Angela Jones and Tara Mercer both of Leesburg, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, Maurice, SaKeida, Justin, Jasmine, Tayvius, Jamil, Alexandra, Alexeus, Kianna, Kierra, Mariah, Ja’kneeca, Keon, Charles, Jr., Ashley, Roland, Larry, Julius, Brianna and Shemia; a host of beloved great nieces and great nephews; a host of beloved aunt, uncles, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 22, 2018, at St. John A.M.E. Church, 118 Hudson Street, Plains, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. 

Willie Fred Taylor better known as Bill was born July 10, 1963 to the late Willie Fred Taylor and Mary Ruth Millner Taylor of Americus, Georgia. He attended the Public Schools of Sumter County. He was employed by Garrison Trucking Company. He is preceded in death by three siblings, George Bernard Taylor, Evelyn Belinda Taylor, Freddie Mae Taylor-Reagon; an aunt, Ethel Millner; and a god-brother, Virgil Lee Morris. Bill was a member of Restoration Church of Americus, Georgia.

Bill leaves to cherish his memory are seven children LaWanna Ross (Jaguar) of Plains, Georgia, Crystal Tookes, Diamond Taylor, Alexis Holmes, Shanteka Holmes, all of Americus, Georgia, Tequila Johnson (Charles) of Albany, Georgia, Chris Smarts of Stanford, Florida; one devoted  granddaughter who he helped spoil, Alayjia Ross of Plains, Georgia; one sister, Dr. Dorothy E. Hooks of Leesburg, Florida; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas Reagon (Lynn), Marvin Reagon; aunts, Lois Taylor of Americus, Georgia, Lady B. Sims, Elnora Gervin, Lillie Cladd; nieces, Chandra Garry, Mikita Milliner, Deborah Nesbitt, and Tomeka Nesbitt; nephews, Javin Baker, Wartavis Thompson and Shadtavis Nesbitt; a godmother, Overseer Linda Mathis; god-sister, Tina Lewis; devoted cousins, James and Betty Millner; devoted friends/brothers, Stephon Milledges of Americus, Georgia, Roddrique Green of Americus, Georgia. Robert Calvin Griffin, age 72, passed Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, Georgia. 
 
Robert Calvin Griffin was born November 13, 1946 in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia to the late Willie Ervin Griffin, Sr. and the late Marie Sturnes-Griffin.  He was married to the late Gloria Johnson-Griffin. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County. During his working life, he worked for Southern Frozen Foods, where he worked as a package supervisor, and the City of Montezuma, until his retirement.
​
Left to cherish his memories are four loving children, Sgt. Tommie Griffin (Bridgette) of Atlanta, Georgia, Geneva Griffin Molden (Jimmy) of Atlanta, Georgia, Marie Griffin of Fort Valley, Georgia, and Connie Griffin of Fort Valley, Georgia; siblings, Fannie Mae Carter (Leroy), of Jacksonville, Florida, Rosa Lee Perkins, of Macon, Georgia, Alvin Griffin, of Jacksonville, Florida, Abraham Griffin, of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Johnny Griffin (Susie), of Jacksonville, Florida, Leroy Griffin (Sonya), of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Willie Griffin, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Mary Linton, of Oglethorpe, Georgia; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
 
A private memorial to celebrate his life will be held in Jacksonville, Florida. ​
