Jacquelyn Clark, age 63, passed August 21, 2019 at the Houston Lake Medical Center, Warner Robins, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Mt. Pleasant/Travelers Rest C.M.E. Church, Norris Street, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow at Champ Waters Cemetery, Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.

Jacquelyn was born in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia on November 17, 1955 to the late Lessie Standifer and Dan B. Clark, Sr. She was preceded in death by seven siblings, Mary Clark, June Baldwin, Diane Harris, Constance Jones, Dan B. Clark, Daniel Clark, and Carolyn Mallard, and one aunt, Bessie Kate Standifer. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County, where she was a 1974 graduate of D.F. Douglass High School. Her employment history included Southern Frozen Food where she was a Packer. Jacquelyn also worked as a cook for P & C Daycare Center and her love for children was undeniable. She was also a sitter for Patricia & Scott Simmons.

She leaves her memories to her daughter, LaToya Clark Sanders (Homer, Jr.); siblings, Murrell Harris (Willie James), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Betty Jean Clark Bailey (Ronnie), Manuel Clark, Constance Baldwin, Dan B. Clark, Jr., all of Montezuma, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends, including her best friends, Reather Jones and Angela Shelley.

Bobette Hinton-Shields

Bobette Hinton-Shields, age 67, passed on August 21, 2019 at the Houston Medical Center, Warner Robins, Georgia.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Friday, August 30, 2019 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Bobette was born on January 18, 1952 in Ideal, Georgia to the late L.D. Hinton Sr. and the late Nina Turner Hinton. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Kenneth O’Neal Hinton, Willie Jessie Hinton, L.D. Hinton, Jr., and Bonnie Hinton. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County where she graduated from the historic D.F. Douglas High School. She furthered her education at Georgia Southwestern College majoring in Social Work. Bobette worked with Magnolia Manor as a CNA and Activity Director, State of Georgia Quality Enterprise as a Mental Health Counselor, and Counseling of Aging as a Data Entry Clerk. She was married to the late Nathaniel Shields.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted daughter, Debretta Hinton-Middlebrooks (Bobby), Warner Robins, Georgia; four grandchildren, Nina Tierra McCrary, Morris McCrary, Jr., Devinci Sanders, Vintavious Sanders; four great grandchildren, Amya, Elijah, Leia, and Karter; three siblings, Doris (Dee) Powell, East Point, Georgia, Carl Hinton (Natalie), College Park, Georgia, and Rubie Hinton Patrick (Freddie), Decatur, Georgia; sisters in love, Christine Hinton, Montezuma, Georgia Ozella Hinton, Ellaville, Georgia; aunts and uncle, Vurla Mae Terry, Atlanta, Georgia, Herbert Turner, Albany, Georgia, Shari Turner, Gainesville, Florida, and Edith Turner, Miami, Florida; a host of nieces, and nephews other relatives and friends including a devoted friends Willie C. Chambers of Americus, Georgia.

John Lee Battle, age 68, passed on August 20, 2019 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 26, 2019 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. 

John was born on October 31, 1950 in Ellaville, Georgia the late Major Battle and the late Annie B. Richardson Battle. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Contravious Battle, and four siblings, Willie Battle, Edith  Bell Rogers, Mary Alice Range, and Mary Lois Hamilton. He was educated in the public school system of Schley County, where he attended John Lewis High School. He was employed with Southern Frozen Foods and Macon County High School as a custodian.  He was married to the late Ethel Mae Smith Battle. 

He leaves to cherishes his memory two children Rosa Goggins (Matthew), Montezuma, Georgia, Johnny Battle (Joscelyn Shingles), Americus, Georgia; five grandchildren  LaKeisha Ford,  Laquasha Battle (Devin), Americus, Georgia,  Erica Ford, Montezuma, Georgia, Keylexius Battle, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Tierra Battle, Americus, Georgia; five great grandchildren, Lakebbie Ford, Alaysia Engram, Aubrey Engram, Contravious Ford, Zaylen Engram, and five siblings Eva Mae Johnson, Junior Battle (Mary), Homer Lee Battle, Harold Battle, Sr., all of Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Ernestine Frazier, Ellaville, Georgia; sisters/brothers in law, Rosa (Sammie) Harris, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Minister Willie (Blondell) Smith, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Dennis (Delphanie) Smith, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Ernest (Ann) Smith, Albany, Georgia and Edward (Mary Ann) Smith, Montezuma, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a devoted friend Markeith Curgil and Mattie Goggins.

Alton "Jim" McKellar, age  65, passed on August 16. 2019.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Whitewater Road, Ideal, Georgia. Burial will follow at Felton Chapel Independent Church Cemetery.

Alton Mckellar was born on August 17, 1953 to the late Andrew "Sack" McKellar Sr., and the late Mamie Lou Gary McKellar. "Jim," as he was known by family and friends, was preceded in death by one sister Ossie Lois McKellar Taylor. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the Church choir.  He was employed as a forklift driver at Southern Frozen Food and an off road dump truck driver with Sims and Sons. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge # 1222.

Jim is survived by two children, Jackie Ivory (Demetrius), Oglethorpe, Georgia and Tasha Drains, Butler, Georgia; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; six siblings, Tom Gary (Elma), Hartford, Connecticut, Eddie Roy McKellar (Mary Gillcrest), Garden Valley, Georgia, Larry McKellar (Angela), Fred McKellar, all of Fort Valley, Georgia, Andrew McKellar Jr. (Felicia). Oglethorpe, Georgia, Sandra Jean McKellar, Fort Valley, Georgia; aunt and uncle, Arrie Dean Walker, Oglethorpe, Georgia, James L. Garry  (Annie Mae) Hartford, Connecticut, Robert Lee McKellar (Valarie), Rebecca, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including Mr. Ovet Harris.

Rosa Elaine McClary, age 59, passed on August 12, 2019.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Friendship Baptist Church, 411 Cotton Avenue, Americus, Georgia. Burial will follow at New Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 260 W Allen Street, Leslie, Georgia.

Rosa was born on April 7, 1960, in Leslie, Sumter County, Georgia to the late Gertrude Girven-Wilson and the late Willie Wilson, Sr. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Charles Wilson, David Wilson, and Bettye Jean Wilson-Morgan. She was educated in the public school system of Sumter County and was a graduate of Sumter County High School. Rosa was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia. She was joined in holy matrimony to Oliver McClary on December 21, 1998. During her working career, she was employed as a CNA at Plains Nursing Home and Middle Flint Behavioral Healthcare. She also was employed with Tyson Frozen Food.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, Oliver McClary, Leslie, Georgia; five children, Earnest Floyd (Jessica), Americus, Georgia, Michael Floyd, New York City, New York, Steven Floyd (Crystal), Valdosta, Georgia, Tharon McClary and Keywata McClary, both of Leslie, Georgia; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one brother, Willie Wilson Jr. (Cowanda), Leslie, Georgia; aunts and uncle, Annie Maude Daniels, Minnie Estella Howard, and James L. Wilson (Minnie); and a host of wonderful sisters/brothers-in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including a devoted cousin, Thelma Williams.

Willie Joe Spivey, age 60, passed August 7, 2019 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 125 Bethlehem Road, Dooling, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

Willie Joe Spivey was born January 15, 1959 in Dooling, Georgia to the late Ruthie Mae Spivey Towns and was reared by his mom and stepfather, J.C. Towns Sr. (Yvonne).  He was preceded in death by one brother, Calvin Towns.  At an early age he accepted the Lord as his personal Savior. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Dooling, Georgia.  Willie was a hard worker. Over the years he was employed with Georgia Forestry, Blue Bird Body Company, and Flextec.

He leaves to cherish his memories three children, Charsaydius Spivey, Cordele, Georgia, Andrevier Fields (Gloria), Columbus, South Carolina, and Tashonda Fuller Fields, Bonaire, Georgia; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, J.C. Towns Jr. (Barbara), Marysville, Washington, and Lewis Spivey (Felecia), Chesapeake, Virginia; aunts, Gladys Hardrick, Oglethorpe, Georgia and Bernice Clark, Warner Robins, Georgia; stepbrothers, Timothy Towns, Lily Georgia, Jatavious Towns, Harry Daniels, Lily, Georgia; stepsisters, Vivian Milner (Melvin), Dooling, Georgia, Betty Brown (James), Cordele, Georgia, Lydia Towns, Byromville, Georgia and Teresa Cherry (Roudy); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a special friend Mr. Richard Hardrick, Lily, Georgia.

Eva Bell Walton Rogers

Mrs. Eva Bell Walton Rogers, age 94, Taylor County Health and Rehab, Butler, Georgia, passed Thursday, August 8, 2019.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 16, 2019 at Mount Sinai Church, Rupert, Georgia.  Interment will follow in the Old Mount Sinai Church Cemetery, Hwy 127, Rupert, Georgia.

Mrs. Eva Bell Walton Rogers was born September 10, 1924 to the late Nina Walton and the late Robert Lee Walton.  She was married to the late Jerome A. Rogers and to this union seven children was born.  Three children, Floyd “Sonny” Rogers, Linell Rogers and Elizabeth Rogers, preceded her in death.  Four siblings, Robert Walton, Mae Eva Clark, Susie Mae Brown, Essie Mae Albright, and one granddaughter, Trestise Jennings, also preceded her in death.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member at Mount Sinai Baptist Church.  

Mrs. Eva Bell was a wife, a mother, a homemaker and a grandmother.  She was educated in the public school system of Dooly County

On Thursday evening, August 8, 2019, Mrs. Eva Bell stepped past the confines of her flesh and entered eternal rest surrounded by her loved ones at Taylor County Health and Rehab, Butler, Georgia.  A precious one from us is gone; a voice we love is still, a place is vacant in our hearts that can never more be filled.

She leaves to cherish her memories: four children, Pearlie Rogers Graham, Incell Rogers, Jerome Rogers (Angie) all of Jacksonville, Florida, and Nathaniel Rogers (Betty), Ideal, Georgia.  She is also survived by one brother, Eddie Walton, Oglethorpe, Georgia, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grands, 8 great great grands, a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  Special thanks to Olivia ‘Libby’ Sharpe, Winnie Meadows, and Dorothy Kaigler for going the extra mile.  Thank you Taylor County Health and Rehab Staff for your many acts of kindness extended to the family.  We will never be able to thank each of you in the way that we feel.  You all are awesome!!

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Union Hill African Methodist Episcopal Church, Will Spivey Street, Ellaville, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.

Glenda was born August 1, 1948 in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia to the late George Peeples, Sr. and the late Etta Dean Jackson Peeples.  She was preceded in death by four children, Patrick Keith Hunter, Henry Sanders Golphin, Jr., Linda Faye Jones and Brenda Kay Golphin, and six siblings, Geraldine Shelton, Ester Mae Williams, Tony Peeples, Phillip Peeples, Wendy Perry and Scottie Peeples.  She was educated in the public school system of Schley County, Georgia, where she acquired her high school education from the old historic John Lewis School.  At an early age she joined the Union Hill African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served on many auxiliaries and sang many years in the choir.

Glenda was a homemaker and raised many kids throughout her years.  Glenda was affectionately known as “Madear.”  Glenda was married to the late James Wallace Ruff, Sr.

Survivors are her children, Lillian Mitchell (Eddie), April Ruff Baker (Terrill), both of Americus, Georgia; Danielle Butler (Henry) of Ellaville, Georgia; two grandchildren she helped to rear and nurture, Eulish Kinchens (Sam), and Philip Jones (Monica), both of Americus, Georgia; other grandchildren include, Marquita Solomon, Laquita Moses (Chris), Katelynn Golphin, Britany Peeples, Kapris Battle (Jaaundriyah), Jalyn Mitchell, Raven Butler, Kobe Baker and Kadrian Baker; ten great grandchildren; five siblings, Rachel Johnson, Harriett Peeples, Connie Peeples all of Ellaville, Georgia, George Peeples (Annie), Smithville, Georgia, and MacGarry Peeples (Betty), Americus, Georgia, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

​Minister John Thomas Minter, age 59, Fobb Street, Buena Vista, Georgia passed on Sunday, August 4, 2019 in the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Shelton Temple Church of God in Christ, 231 E 5th Avenue, Buena Vista, Georgia.

Minister John Thomas Minter was born August 6, 1959 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to Johnnie B. Jackson Minter and late Samuel Minter. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Alfred James Minter, Dianne Elaine Minter and Donnie Lewis Minter. He was a 1978 graduate of Tri-County High School. He was a member of Shelton Temple Church of God in Christ was worked as a self-employed building contractor. John was married to the former Ellen Michelle Love on June 1, 1986.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Ellen Michelle Love Minter, Buena Vista, Georgia; mother, Johnnie B. Minter, Buena Vista, Georgia; siblings Samuel Lamar Minter, Timothy Victor Minter (Lisa Marie), Olympia, Washington, Jeffery Allen Minter (Shadonna) Columbus, Georgia; aunt, Annie Ruth Thornton (Kary), Buena Vista, Georgia; sisters/brothers-in-law, Shirley Rushin, Columbus, Georgia, Carolyn Rushin, Donnie Rushin, Joanna Rushin, Derrell Rushin, May Thomas (Johnnie), Lonnie Rushin,  all of Buena Vista, Georgia.

Donna Lucille Cladd, age 61, 109 Lexington Drive, Americus, Georgia passed July 30, 2019 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 7, 2019, New Antioch Baptist Church, 484 US 280 West, Americus, Georgia, with Pastor Ricky Cladd officiating.

Donna was born June 24, 1958 to the late Timothy Cladd and Mary Francis Ragans Cladd in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia.  She was a 1976 graduate of Americus High School. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was employed as a Nurse Assistant at Perfect Care.

Survivors are her children, Tiffiney Latonya Cladd and Ryshawn Jaquise Cladd, both of Americus, Georgia; siblings, Julia Ragans, Gloria Andrews, Carlton Jerome Cladd (Carolyn), James Melvin Black, Jr., all of Americus, Georgia and Robin Davis (Eugene), Oglethorpe, Georgia; aunts/uncles, Lollie Cladd, Americus, Georgia and Joseph Cladd (Barbara), New Jersey. 

The family will receive family and friends at 109 Lexington Circle, Americus, Georgia
