The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Josh Gibson Center, Gibson Way, Buena Vista, Georgia. Pastor Larry Franklin, Jr., pastor of Nazarene Church of God In Christ, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Georgia Highway 41 South, Buena Vista, Georgia. The remains will lay in state from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
Missionary Kelley was born July 11, 1939 to the parentage of John Tymes and Mae Bryd Slaughter Tymes. She was preceded in death by nine siblings: Betty Times, Johnnie Mae Jones, Mary Rouse, Annie Ruth Minter, Alberta Hartage, Ethelyn Tymes, Robert Times, James Times, and John Times, Jr.
She received the Holy Ghost at the Apostolic Faith Church, Miami, Florida under the leadership of Pastor Georgia Smith. She joined the membership of Shelton Temple COGIC in 1961 under the leadership of the late Elder Luther Shelton. She was later ordained as a Missionary, Sunday School Teacher, Church Secretary, and District Missionary under the leadership of the late Bishop John Howard Dell.
In 1961, she was united in holy matrimony to Pastor Charlie Kelley and to this union they were blessed with six children. She loved her family dearly and that love was reciprocated by her loving husband, children, grandchildren, and Christian family.
She was educated in the public school system of Marion County. She was a graduate of North Western Senior High in 1958. She continued her education at Tuskegee University where she pursued a degree in Commercial Cooking and Institutional Management in 1958 – 1959. She continued her education in Food Management at the University of Georgia where she acquired her certification in Food Management. She was employed with the State Detention Center, Butler, Georgia where she taught Cooking and Food Management. After many years of dedicated services, she retired in 2004.
She leaves a legacy of loving memories to her beloved family including her beloved husband of fifty-five years, Pastor Charlie Kelley, Buena Vista, Georgia; six children, Brother Reginald Kelley, Evangelist Margie Kelley, Charlie Kelley, and John Kelley, all of Buena Vista, Georgia, Missionary Carol Lott (Olin), New Orleans, Louisiana, and Sgt. James Kelley (Ieishea), Augusta, Georgia; one sister, Irene Smith, Fayetteville, Georgia; two brothers, Allen Times (Peggy), Griffin, Georgia and Arthur Times (Yvonne), Augusta, Georgia; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Julia Woody (Matthew), Mary L. Walton, Bobby Kelley (Earnestine) and Chester Hartage, all of Buena Vista, Georgia, Willie James Kelley, Richland, Georgia and Essie Tymes, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
