Mary Miles, age 82, passed on January 29, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital, Manchester Expressway, Columbus, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Shady Grove Baptist Church, Buena Vista, Georgia. Interment will follow the Church cemetery.
 
Mary was born October 7, 1934 in Cusseta, Chattahoochee County, Georgia to the late John Smith and Mozell Davis Smith.  She was preceded in death by her late husband, Hyron Miles, Sr.; one child, Henry Lee; two stepchildren, Albert Milles and Bobby Hope; and five siblings, Martha Jolly, Charlie Davis, Raford Smith, Ossie Davis and Willie C. Smith.
 
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Shady Grove Baptist Church where she served as Secretary. She was a member of the Choir, and she also served on the Usher Board.
 
Mary was a devoted mother and was blessed with five children, Hyron Miles Jr., Eddie Miles, Mary Joyce Miles, Michael Miles and Jerry Miles; one stepson, Arthur Lee Miles; a devoted nephew, Clarence Currilla; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, other relatives, and friends.

Mrs. ​Jodie Bell Skinner, age 93, 235 Robins Circle passed on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at her residence.  
 
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 3, 2017 at the St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church, 227 Railroad Street, Marshallville, Georgia, where Rev. A. C. Willis, Sr. is pastor. Reverend Preston King, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Marshallville, Georgia, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Willow Lake Memorial Gardens, Willow Lake Road, Fort Valley, Georgia.

Jodie was born March 15, 1923 in Roberta, Crawford County, Georgia to the late Liza Cheney Harden and Edward Harden.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Skinner Sr.; six children, Lewis Skinner, Jr., Annie Pearl Skinner, Geneva Skinner, Christine Skinner, Barbara Ann Knox, and Elizabeth Buckner; two siblings, Lilly Mae Harden, and ST Harden.

Jodie was a homemaker who loved and cared for her family. At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and went on and joined the band of Christian believers at Saint John A.M.E. Church in Marshallville, Georgia.  Jodie was joined in Holy matrimony to the late Lewis Skinner, Sr.      
   

She leaves to cherish her memories: six children Annie Ruth Blue (Henry) Rochester, New York, Mary Rice, Martha Skinner, Mary Frances Brown (Richard), Joann Skinner, and Jerome Skinner (Gloria), all of Marshallville, Georgia; sisters-in-law Louise Jackson, Montezuma, Georgia, Juanita Solomon, Akron, Ohio, and Osie Lee Skinner, Fort Myers, Florida; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends.

Eddie Willie Mercer Sr., age 70, passed on January 25, 2017 at Miona Geriatrics and Dementia, Ideal, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Old Corinth Baptist Church, 425 Brown Small Road, Americus, Georgia, where the Reverend Dr. C.L McKinstry is pastor. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

Eddie was born on March 12, 1946 in Americus, Georgia to the late Roosevelt Mercer and Mary Lizzy Dowdell. He was preceded in death by five siblings, Iona Bell Dowdell, Anna Sue Robinson, Elizabeth Green, Willie Lou Dowdell, Willie Fred Dowdell, and two grandchildren, Dontrell White and Kenson Hunt. He was educated in the public school system of Sumter County. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the band of Christian believers at Old Corinth Baptist Church. He worked as a farmer for many years at Frazier Farms.

He leaves to cherish his memories: five children, Deborah Ann Wilkerson (Timothy), Americus, Georgia, Eddie Mercer (Alice), Jerome Mercer (Teresa), Brian Keith (Kathy), Carolyn Harper, all of Americus, Georgia; 16 grandchildren, Cheryl Wilkerson, Sherry Wilkerson, Kristie Wilkerson, Melissa Wilkerson, Marquita Clark, Deandria Watson, Aaron Cooper, Tyrus Hunt, Eddie Jerome Mercer, Eddie Latrell Mercer, Clarence Smith, Shequita Dorso,  Shatia Mercer, Deandrae Harper and Taneshia Harper; 19 great grandchildren; one brother Charles Dowdell ( Willimenia); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

​Eugene Harris, age 80, passed on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Monday, January 30, 2017 at Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church, Hwy 26 West, Oglethorpe, Georgia, where the Reverend Norris Harris is Pastor. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
 
Eugene was born March 28, 1936 in Oglethorpe, Georgia to the late Gus Harris and Ethel Lee Taylor Harris. He was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Harris, and four sibling,s Wylene Harris, Annie Will Harris, Henry Lee Harris, and Lucile Maddox. Eugene was known as a hard worker. He enjoyed employment through Merlan M. Williams Farms as a Farmer; Simmons Construction as a Construction Worker; and Mulco in the Shipping Department. On September 29, 1963 Eugene was joined in holy matrimony to Ollie Hill.
 
He leaves his cherished memory to his wife of 53 years, Ollie Harris, Oglethorpe, Georgia; three children, Shelia Schofield Burnam (Gerald), Montezuma, Georgia, Reginald Harris (Kalandra), Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Bruce Harris (Jeannie Wilson), Oglethorpe, Georgia; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Odessa Harris, Fort Valley, Georgia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Deacon J.D. Hill (Lula) Ideal, Georgia, Pearlie Mae Hill Joseph, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Larry Hill, Atlanta, Georgia, Douglass Hill, Vero Beach, Florida, Mary Hill Cochran, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Shirley Hill Outler (Clarence) Covington, Georgia, Lemuel Hill, Dennis Hill, Melvin Hill  and Gwendolyn Hill Rucker (Minder), all of Oglethorpe, Georgia;  a host of other relatives and friends including devoted friends, Leroy Cephus, Atlanta, Georgia, Stanley Walker and Edras Washington, both of Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Gregory LaFronza Jolly, age 62, 2999 Continental Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia, passed on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Doctor’s Hospice of Georgia, Fayetteville, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. The Reverend Marilyn Burke Udeh will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
 
Gregory LaFronza Jolly was born August 29, 1954 to Addie P. Kleckley and the late Willie Benny Jolly in Jamaica, New York. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Benny Jolly, and grandparents, Dudley and Elizabeth Kleckley and Tommy L. and Goldust Jolly. He was educated in the public schools of Macon County.
 
He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Addie P. Kleckley, Queens, New York; two children, Weseal Jolly and Willie Jolly, both of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren; siblings, Beverly Jean-Jacques (Georges), Tampa, Florida, Jeffery Jolly (Shirley), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Gilbert Harris (Mary), Ideal, Georgia, Sidney Ellis (Cheryl), Ocala, Florida, and Stanley Gregory, Queens, New York; aunts and uncles, including a loving and devoted aunt, Goldie Hariston, with whom he lived, Mary Fields, Wayne Mangram, all of Atlanta, Georgia, Ollie Mangram, Margaret McLauglin, Maggie Kleckley, all of Jamaica, New York, Florene Smith, and Laverne Mangram, both of Oglethorpe, Georgia; longtime devoted friend, Minker (Milk) Blunt; a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church, Georgia  Highway 26 West, Oglethorpe, Georgia, where the Reverend Norris Harris is Pastor. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Bishop James Lundy, pastor of Tabernacle of Faith Holiness Church, Spivey Street, Ellaville, Georgia, will officiate.
 
Thelma was born on March 20, 1943 to the Christean Harris and late Delmas Harris, Sr. in Oglethorpe, Georgia. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Nathaniel Harris,  Theodore “Bill” Harris, and one sister, Odessa Harris Redding.  She was educated in the public school system of Schley County and was a graduate of John Lewis High School in Ellaville, Georgia. For many faithful years, she worked and later retired from Arrow Shirt Company in Atlanta, Georgia as a Seamstress. She was joined in holy matrimony to  Leonard Hall.  She enjoyed cooking and socializing with family and friends.
 
She leaves to cherish her memories: a mother, Christean Harris, Ideal, Georgia; a brother, Delmas Harris, Jr., Ellaville, Georgia; nephews and nieces, Travis Holloway, Atlanta, Georgia, DeWayne Harris (Jalandra), Newnan, Georgia, Brant Acey, Thomaston, Georgia, Jeffery Harris, Ideal, Georgia, TheErica Harris, Atlanta, Georgia, Pamela Harris, Ideal, Georgia, and Paula H. Mrs. Louise Suggs Harris, age 91, 92 Tom Watson Avenue, Ideal, Georgia passed Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Miona Geriatric & Dementia Center, 201 Poplar Street, Ideal, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Faith Memorial C.M.E. Church, 907 Brooks Road, Ideal, Georgia. The Reverend Zechariah Terry, pastor, will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Hopewell Independent Church Cemetery, Brooks Mill Road, Rupert, Macon County, Georgia.

Mrs. Louise Suggs Harris was born March 6, 1925 to the late Willie Coleman Suggs, Sr. and Luverne Fish Suggs.  She was educated in the public school system of Macon County. At an early age she joined the historic Freewill Baptist Church of Ideal, Georgia.  After many years of dedicated service she retired from Ideal Intermediate Care Nursing Home as a Nursing Assistant.

She was united in Holy matrimony to the late John Henry Harris and to this union they were blessed with three sons. Richard, her middle son, preceded her in death. Her brother, Willie Coleman Suggs, Jr., also preceded her in death. On January 12, 2017, Louise joined that great caravan of loved ones and believers and we believe the Lord himself said, “Well Done, My Good and Faithful Servant, come on home and rest.”

She leaves to cherish her memories: children, Henry James Harris (Rebecca) Augusta, Georgia, Freddie L. Harris Sr., Ideal, Georgia; grandchildren, DaTosha Harris, Savannah, Georgia, Toya Harris, Augusta, Georgia, Tressa Harris, and Richard Eugene Harris (Cheri) both of  Lawrenceville, Georgia, Tara Harris, and Mary Harris both of Decatur, Georgia, Freddie L. Mrs. Mattie Mae Woolfork, affectionately known as "Mag" and "Suga Mama," age 81, 491 Bob Vinson Road, Montezuma, Georgia passed Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Houston Medical Center Warner Robins, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Magnolia Baptist Church, Montezuma, Georgia 415 Hosie Waters St., Montezuma, Georgia, where the Reverend Hoise Waters is pastor. The Reverend Bobby Brown, Pastor, whom she loved as her son, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Champ Waters Cemetery, 191 Twin Churches Road, Montezuma, Georgia.

Mattie was born June 3, 1935 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to Dave and Maggie Grant. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Doris Grant and  Levonnne Woolfork Furlow.  Mattie was educated through the Flint River Farms School. She was employed with Southern Frozen Food for 35 years.

At an early age, Mattie joined the Brown Chapel Baptist Church where she served faithfully on every facet of the church she loved so well.  She exemplified her worth as Head of the Church Hospitality Committee.

Mattie met and later married her one and only love, Earl Woolfork, on March 12, 1960 and to this union they were blessed with six children. This was a marriage that was truly made in heaven.  

She leaves loving memories to her beloved family which include the following: a loving and devoted husband for 56 years, Earl Woolfork, Sr., Montezuma, Georgia; four children, Earl Woolfork Jr., Shirley Woolfork, Earlene Small (Randy), all of Montezuma, Georgia, and Charlotte Davis (Alfornsa) of Perry, Georgia; a son-in-law, Arthur Charles Furlow of Montezuma Georgia; 12 grandchildren she helped raised as her own, Sherwin Woolfork (Ebony), Alfornsa Davis (Leary), Juwan Small, Jeremy Small, Donte Furlow, Gabrielle Davis, Ashley Furlow, Alicia Furlow, Alexis Furlow, Wesley Davis, Javriana Canady, and Karltez Hooks; six great grandchildren, Zoria Davis, Natalia Davis, Mya Davis, Skyler Woolfork, Trinity Williams, and Dejad Williams;  two sisters, whom she loved dearly,  Daisy Felton (John) and Annie Grant, all of Montezuma Georgia; two godchildren, Jerome Adams and Marshae Canady (Jeffery); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marie Woolfork, Joann Woolfork, both of Montezuma, Georgia, Mollie Reid, Warner Robins, Georgia, Geneva Carter (James), Tifton, Georgia, Roosevelt Woolfork (Yvonne), Orlando, Florida, Eddie Woolfork (Michelle), Detroit, Michigan, Jewel Woolfork, Immokalee, Florida, Arlessie Grant, Perry, Georgia, and Ruth Grant of Hartford, Connecticut; several devoted nieces and nephews, Willie Woolfork (Connie), Barbara Felton, Bertha Plowden (Marvin), Damon Felton (Jackie), Gloria O’Neal, Sharon Beal(Jodie), Patricia Felton, Amillia Woolfork, Audrey Woolfork, Eva Walton (David), Jeanette Bailey (William), Derek Williams (Teresa), and Ruth Ann Joiner; devoted cousins, Bonnie Grant and Georgia Barnes; beloved friends, Gloria Keith (Billy), Nannie Mae Tookes, Dorothy Williams, Margie Nell Worthy, Eliza Sanders, Debra Odom, Gladys Joiner, Flora Brown, and Dorothy Stafford; a host of other relatives and friends.

Ollie Lee Thompson age 67, passed on January 2, 2017, at the Pine Pointe Hospice and Palliative Care, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia. 

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. The Reverend Angela Roberts will officiate.     

Ollie Lee Thompson was born on December 2, 1949 the late Julius “Jack” Thompson and Elnora Hall Thompson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur James Hall and Larry Hall. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County.  Over the years he worked as an independent Truck Driver.

He leaves to cherish his memories: four siblings, Bunice Turner (George), Montezuma, Georgia, Nettie Mae Melvin, Montezuma, Georgia, Evelyn Whitehead, (Nathaniel), Greensboro, Georgia, Lula Mae Scott, Montezuma, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including a close and devoted friend, Tommie Felton.

Ernest Fredrick, age 66, passed on Monday, January 2, 2017.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. The Reverend Coley Clark Jr. will officiate.  Burial will be held in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Whiteline Street, Montezuma, Georgia. 

Ernest was born February 28, 1950 to the late Elberta Fredrick and Jack Johnson in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia.  He was preceded in death by two siblings, Eddie Joe Wimberly and Estella Wimberly. He acquired his education in the public school system of Peach County. He retired from Ben Riggon Farms as a Small Machine Operator.  In 1973 he was involved in an auto accident that caused his health to decline.

Survivors are one daughter, Tina Willis, Hendersonville, North Carolina; six siblings, Oscar James Ingram, Macon Georgia, Gwendolyn Wimberly Morrison, Boston Massachusetts, Jennie Drake, Fort Valley, Georgia, Terry Wimberly, Warner Robins, Georgia, Ella Glenn Wimberly, Chicago, Illinois, S.T. Wimberly, Atlanta, Georgia; five grandchildren; aunts, Louise Fredrick, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Inez Rocquemore, Montezuma, Georgia; godmother, Luellen Drake, Fort Valley, Georgia; devoted nephews, Shawn Drake, Fort Valley, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews,  other relatives and friends.
