The Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. was named after the city of Oglethorpe, Georgia, with the consideration that it would be an advancement to the growth of the community. This business was designed to service mankind, to make sure that their loved one would be buried in a Christian manner or follow the instruction of the family to provide the service they so desire, to bring comfort at a time when it is needed most. Built on the instructions of God, Deacon M.C. Meadows and Jossie Mae Williams Meadows in April 1957 officially opened the "Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc." along with their children, C.L. Meadows, A.C. Meadows, William Cornelious Meadows, Thomas Edward Meadows, Morris Meadows, Gretha Louise Meadows, Lee Willie Meadows, and Tammi Renee Meadows.
