Kenneth Mitchell, Sr., age 54, 3536 St. Mary Road Lot D #19, Columbus, Georgia, passed on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Kindred Hospice, Columbus, Georgia
 
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
 
Kenneth was born on June 27, 1963 in Deerfield, Lake County, Florida to Christine Mitchell and the late Elzie Mitchell, Sr. He was a graduate of Tri-County High School. Most of his life he was employed with Davis Tire of Montezuma, Georgia as a mechanic. He is preceded in death by a brother, Elzie Mitchell, Jr. He was united in holy matrimony to Mattie Goggin.
 
He leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories, children, Kenneth Mitchell, Jr., Calvin Mitchell, Bryan Mitchell (Latrice), Brandon Mitchell, all of LaGrange, Georgia, Demetria Journey, Cameron Goggins, Jakryan McCoy, all of Columbus, Georgia; mother, Christine Mitchell of Ellaville, Georgia; siblings, Patricia Williamson (Ray), Charlene Mitchell, both of Ellaville, Georgia, Virginia Brown (Emmitt) of Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Eddie Lewis Mitchell, Sr. (Lillian) of Americus, Georgia; grandchildren, Kayden Mitchell, Caydriona Mitchell, Caleb Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell, Bryanna Mitchell, Makailah Mitchell, Braydon Mitchell, Brandy Mitchell, Brayleigh Mitchell, Adrian Mitchell, and Jordan Mitchell; aunts/uncles, Mary Alice Miller of Ellaville, Georgia, Verdie Fulks, Bobby Fulks (Arretta) of Ideal, Georgia, Willie James Fulks (Essie) of Ellaville, Georiga, and Milton Mitchell (Helen) of Buena Vista, Georgia. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Mrs. Mary Alice Brown Ware, age 85, 229 Railroad Street, DeSoto, Georgia passed Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Phoebe Sumter Hospital, Americus, Georgia.

A wake service will be held from 6:00–7:00 P.M., Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Brown Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, corner of Railroad Street and Mill Street, Leslie, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Zion Hope Baptist Church, DeSoto, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Staley Memorial Gardens, corner of Souther Field Road and Mayo Street, Americus, Georgia.

Mary Alice Brown Ware was born July 16, 1932 in Sumter County, Georgia to the late Julian Brown and Anna Harris Brown. She was preceded in death by her seven siblings, Zola Mae Holman, Jennie Brown, Lula Mae Brown, Willie Lee Brown, John Lee Brown, Albert Brown and Frank Brown. She was educated in the public school system of Sumter County. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the band of Christian believers at Brown Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

Mary Alice was united in holy matrimony to the late Donald Ware Sr. and to this blessed union two children were born and she was blessed to be the mother of five children, one son preceded her in death, Leroy Wright. Her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws, Juanita Foster and Theotis Carter (Ossie), both preceded her in death.
After many years of dedicated services, she retired from Magnolia Manor Nursing Center of Americus, Georgia from the Laundry Department.

Mrs. Mary Alice Brown Ware departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Servant of God well done, rest from the love employ, the battle is fought, the victory is won, enter thy master's joy. “Servant of God, Well Done.” Those of us who will forever cherish her memories are seven children, Donald Ware, Jr., Clara Mae “Pam” Greene (Carl), all of De Soto, Georgia, Kenneth Holman (Juana) Memphis, Tennessee, Glenn Wilson, Americus, Georgia, Frank Wilson (Caroline) San Jose, California, Kent Morris Jackson, Marysville, California, and Debbie Wilson, Montezuma, Georgia, one stepson Otis Franklin (Gloria) DeSoto, Georgia; thirty-two grandchildren including one she reared in her home, Nakita Milledge; a host of great grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, George Wright, (Gladys), Cobb, Georgia, Floyd Wright (Joann), Palo Alto, California, Arthur Lee Wright (Virginia), Albany, Georgia, Bobbie Jean Cole, Sunny Mede, California, Retha Miller, Pleasantville, New Jersey, Flate Wright, California, Mary Ann Wright, Pleasantville, New Jersey, and Hubert West, Dallas, Texas; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bertha Williams McDonald

Mrs. Bertha Williams McDonald, age 94, passed on September 22, 2017.
 
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church,  201  Chatham Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow at Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Oglethorpe, Georgia. 
 
Bertha Williams McDonald was born March 9, 1923 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to the late James and Daisy Hayes Williams. She was preceded in death by all five of her siblings Fred Williams, Annie Katie Harvey, Iris Jenkins, Johnny Williams, and Mary Riggins. Bertha was known by many as “Mom, Mama Bert, Grandma Bert, Aunt, and cousin Bert”. She was educated through the local church school starting at New Phillip before attending Macon County Training School. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and at the age of 12 she joined New Hope Baptist Church and as time passed by she continued to serve the Lord through  Jehovah Baptist Church, Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church where she served as Assistant Clerk and Mother of the Church, and in 2007  following in the footsteps of her mother she became a member of  New Phillip Primitive Baptist Church.
 
Bertha was joined in holy matrimony to the late Oscar McDonald and to this union one child was born Jeanette McDonald Feggins she also preceded her in death.   After marrying  the love of her life they moved to Ohio where  she gained employment with  Hoover  Company  for several  years. She also worked with the United Service Organization (USO), where she booked live entertainment such as musicians for members of the United States Armed Forces. This provided her with the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet many  great talents like Duke Ellington and Count Basie.  After moving back home she worked for over 30 years at Southern Frozen Food as a Grader, she retired in 1987.
 
She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and legacy to her  two grandchildren Bertha Clark (Douglas), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Ronald Hedgemen Brunswick, Georgia; great grandchildren Jermahl Clark, Ludowici, Georgia, Jametta  Nichols (Lorenza), Oglethorpe, Georgia,  China Brooks, Washington, D.C,  one great great grandchild Lauren Nichols; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ola Mae Phelps, age 72, 913 Barnard Street, Montezuma, Georgia passed September 14, 2017 at her home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel  Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Interment will follow at the Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Ola May Terrell Phelps was born January 25, 1945 to Henry J. Terrell and Iola Terrell in Taylor County, Georgia. She was educated in the public school system of Taylor County.  Ola joined the band of Christian believers at Church of God by Faith. She enjoyed life as  a homemaker.

Ola was married to the late Willie Edward Phelps Sr. and to this union, they were blessed with blessed with five children; one son, Laverne Coley, preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: four children, Henry Coley, Chester, Georgia, Edward Phelps Jr. (Linda), Spark, Georgia, Betty Wiggins (Ricky), Montezuma, Georgia and Katie Phelps, Macon, Georgia; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Ella Mae Owen, Margie Phelps and Willie B. Phelps, all of Atlanta, Georgia; aunt, Jessie Mae Alls (Bishop Joe), Willacoochee, Georgia; devoted caregivers; Charlotte Woolfork, Pamela Moore, Malissa Barnes, Tammi Collier and Rhonda Byse;  a host of other relatives and friends.

Lewis Leggett, Sr., age 64, passed on September 14, 2017.
 
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Felton Chapel, Highway 128 North, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.
 
Lewis was born April 3, 1953 to the late Ira Bell Walker Leggett and John Wesley Leggett in Ideal,  Macon County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by nine siblings: Timothy Leggett, Joann Wiggins, Linda Leggett, Katina  Leggett, W.C. Leggett, Bill Leggett, Agnes Leggett, Willie W. Leggett, and Virginia Leggett. He was educated in the Macon County Public school system. He received his Christian training in the local churches. Lewis was married to the former Mattie Louise Kendrick.  He was blessed to father four children. He was employed with Grover Hobb Construction Company for several years as a plumber.
 
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Mattie Louise Leggett, Atlanta, Georgia; four children, Katrina Robinson, Mattie Lucinda Leggett, Lewis T. Leggett  Jr., all of Atlanta, Georgia, and Audrianna Sanders, Oglethorpe, Georgia; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; five siblings, Hayward Leggett (Jeanette), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Arthur Clyde Leggett (Shirley), Christopher Leggett Sr. (Gwen), all of Ideal, Georgia, Angela Mathis (Roy), and Janice Wright, Oglethorpe, Georgia; aunts and uncles, Arridean Walker, Mary (Major) Battle, Eula Walker, Gloria Walker, and Phillip Walker; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives.

Mr. Delma Davis, Sr., age 83, 563 Hodge Road, Henderson, Georgia passed Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Heart of Georgia Hospice, Perry, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church, 146 Felton Road, Perry, Georgia.  Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.  Reverend James Nance, pastor, will officiate.
 
Mr. Delma Davis, Sr. was born on August 10, 1934 in Perry, Houston County, Georgia to the late Ulysses C. Davis and Bessie Davis -Davis.  Five siblings, Elvira Watkins, Willie C. Davis, Thelma Laster, James Davis, and Willie Lee Sanders, preceded him in death. He was educated in the public school system of Houston County. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church in Henderson, Georgia where he became a Steward at the age of 25.
 
Delma was married to the former Henry Mae Felder in 1956 and to this union they were blessed with seven children. 
 
He was a man of skills, knowledge and talent.  By nature he loved farming and it showed through his award from Southern Frozen Foods for having grown 800 tons of squash. He also served his community for over 45 years as a Bus Driver with the Houston County Board of Education.
 
He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife, Henry Mae Felder Davis; seven children, Irene (Marvin) Davis, Perry, Georgia, Delmar Jr. (Louise) Davis, Perry, Georgia, Mary (Fred) Taylor, Fort Valley, Georgia, Laverne (Ronnie) Clarington, Perry, Georgia, Steve (Charlotte) Davis, Perry, Georgia, Jacqueline (Dennis) Plant, Fort Valley, Georgia and Ken (Laswanda) Davis, Perry, Georgia; seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Carrie Mae McGhee, Essie Brooks, Sally Chaney, Pearlie (Wilbert) Fitzgerald, Beulah Smith, Evelyn Hill, and Alice Vanalstyne; sisters-in-law, Ester Mae Davis, Charlie Mae Davis, and Georgia Lee Sanders; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. The Reverend Allen Hudson will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Antioch Cemetery, McDonald Road, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
 
Rickeevion was born November 10, 2008 in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia to Domienike Hudson and Rickey Walker.  He was a third grade student at Macon County Elementary School of Oglethorpe, Georgia.
 
Survivors include a loving and devoted mother, Domienike Hudson, Oglethorpe, Georgia; father, Rickey Walker; maternal grandparent, Paula Harpe, Oglethorpe, Georgia; maternal great grandparents, Lucille Williams, Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie James (Catherine) Edge, Ellaville, Georgia; paternal grandparents, Charlie Walker and  Thelyma  Little of Oglethorpe, Georgia; aunts and uncles, Cassandra (Daniel) Rogers, Tomealya (Demetric) Hudson, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Deaondria (Reggie) Hudson Oglethorpe, Georgia, Jeremy (Donna) Hudson, Warner Robins, Georgia, Natasha Walker and Travis Little both of Oglethorpe, Georgia; and a host of other relatives and loving friends.

Charles Harris, age 61, 407 Spaulding Road, Montezuma, Georgia passed on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at his home.
 
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 9, 2017 at First United Holiness Church, 324 Engram Street, Montezuma, Georgia where Elder Michael Coley is Pastor. Prophet Charlie C. Carr will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Ga Hwy 26 West, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
 
Charles was born October 30, 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Arlene Harris and Curtis McCullough. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County. He was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard whereas he was honorably discharged. After many years of dedicated services, he retired from Blue Bird Wanderlodge Division as a painter in 2005. He continued his painting career as an employee with W&R Paint & Body Company of Oglethorpe, Georgia. Charles also had a love and skillful talent as a musician. During his early years, he was a member and organizer of the formal ‘Soul Liberator Band’ in which he was the lead guitar player. After the band dissolved some years later, Charles continued to use his talent as a musician throughout the years, playing and serving as a music teacher, a church musician, and an ‘enjoyable’ entertainer.
 
He was united in holy matrimony to Martha Lee Carr in 1977. To this union they were blessed with three children. An infant son, Brian Deon Harris preceded him in death. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church. Later he joined the Holy House of God under the leadership of Elder Bell Vinson. Then in 2015, he and his wife joined the First United Holiness Church under the leadership of Elder Michael Coley.
 
Charles leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories, a beloved wife of 40 years, Martha Lee Carr-Harris of Montezuma, Georgia; two children, Charlton LaNorris Harris (Ashley) of Leesburg, Georgia, and Marsha Latrelle Harris-Dantes of Savannah, Georgia; five grandchildren, Keyon Harris, Caperus Harris, Jazmyn Harris, Kevin Dantes, and Aria Randall; A sister, Mary Ann Smith (Edward) of Fort Valley, Georgia; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Bessie Carr-Tookes (John) of Montezuma, Georgia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris Harris (Nathaniel) of Montezuma, Georgia, Calvin Carr (and his friend Mary Ann) of Perry, Georgia, Barbara Felton (Michael Sr.) of Montezuma, Georgia, and Prophet Charlie C.
