Charles Harris, age 61, 407 Spaulding Road, Montezuma, Georgia passed on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at his home.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 9, 2017 at First United Holiness Church, 324 Engram Street, Montezuma, Georgia where Elder Michael Coley is Pastor. Prophet Charlie C. Carr will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Ga Hwy 26 West, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Charles was born October 30, 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Arlene Harris and Curtis McCullough. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County. He was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard whereas he was honorably discharged. After many years of dedicated services, he retired from Blue Bird Wanderlodge Division as a painter in 2005. He continued his painting career as an employee with W&R Paint & Body Company of Oglethorpe, Georgia. Charles also had a love and skillful talent as a musician. During his early years, he was a member and organizer of the formal ‘Soul Liberator Band’ in which he was the lead guitar player. After the band dissolved some years later, Charles continued to use his talent as a musician throughout the years, playing and serving as a music teacher, a church musician, and an ‘enjoyable’ entertainer.

He was united in holy matrimony to Martha Lee Carr in 1977. To this union they were blessed with three children. An infant son, Brian Deon Harris preceded him in death. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church. Later he joined the Holy House of God under the leadership of Elder Bell Vinson. Then in 2015, he and his wife joined the First United Holiness Church under the leadership of Elder Michael Coley.

Charles leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories, a beloved wife of 40 years, Martha Lee Carr-Harris of Montezuma, Georgia; two children, Charlton LaNorris Harris (Ashley) of Leesburg, Georgia, and Marsha Latrelle Harris-Dantes of Savannah, Georgia; five grandchildren, Keyon Harris, Caperus Harris, Jazmyn Harris, Kevin Dantes, and Aria Randall; A sister, Mary Ann Smith (Edward) of Fort Valley, Georgia; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Bessie Carr-Tookes (John) of Montezuma, Georgia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris Harris (Nathaniel) of Montezuma, Georgia, Calvin Carr (and his friend Mary Ann) of Perry, Georgia, Barbara Felton (Michael Sr.) of Montezuma, Georgia, and Prophet Charlie C. Carr of Leesburg, Georgia; Aunts, Odessa Harris of Fort Valley, Georgia, Ollie Harris of Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Gussie Mae Harris of Oglethorpe, Georgia; A devoted cousin, Velma Jean Thomas of Desoto, Georgia. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

The death of a loved one is one of the most stressful things humans experiences. Allow Jehovah God to comfort you during this time of sorrow because he cares for you(1 Peter 5:7). Meditate on his promises for the future at Revelation 21:3,4 and John 5:28,29 to find real comfort. My sympathy and love!

I am very sorry for your loss. May the love of family, friends, and Almighty God bring you comfort and support during your time of grief and afterward. (Ps. 83:18; Isaiah 41:10) May your precious memories of Charles and the hope of a resurrection right here on a restored earth bring you peace. (Acts 24:15; Psalm 37:11, 29)

I am very sorry for your loss. However, Almighty God is not the cause of death; neither does he take our loved ones away from us to be with Him. (Psalm 83:18; James 1:13) Death is our enemy and soon it will be brought to nothing. (1 Cor. 15:26) We have the hope of a resurrection at Acts 24:15. We will be able to see our lost loved ones again on a restored earth. (Psalm 37:11, 29) I hope this brings you peace.
