Charles was born October 30, 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Arlene Harris and Curtis McCullough. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County. He was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard whereas he was honorably discharged. After many years of dedicated services, he retired from Blue Bird Wanderlodge Division as a painter in 2005. He continued his painting career as an employee with W&R Paint & Body Company of Oglethorpe, Georgia. Charles also had a love and skillful talent as a musician. During his early years, he was a member and organizer of the formal ‘Soul Liberator Band’ in which he was the lead guitar player. After the band dissolved some years later, Charles continued to use his talent as a musician throughout the years, playing and serving as a music teacher, a church musician, and an ‘enjoyable’ entertainer.
He was united in holy matrimony to Martha Lee Carr in 1977. To this union they were blessed with three children. An infant son, Brian Deon Harris preceded him in death. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church. Later he joined the Holy House of God under the leadership of Elder Bell Vinson. Then in 2015, he and his wife joined the First United Holiness Church under the leadership of Elder Michael Coley.
