Alphonso Bernard Haslam

Mr. Alphonso Bernard Haslam, age 49, 201 Wisconsin Avenue, Warner Robins, Georgia passed Sunday morning, May 2, 2010.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Church Street, Andersonville, Georgia. Interment will follow in Freeman Hill Cemetery, Freeman Road, Andersonville, Georgia.

Alphonso Bernard Haslam was born December 18, 1960 in Fort Valley, Peach County, Georgia to Otis Haslam and Gwendolyn Ball Haslam. He was educated in the public school system of Peach County and a 1979 graduate of Peach County High School.    He earned a vocational certificate in Automobile Mechanic during  his high school vocational training.  He obtained his Master Mechanic Certificate on the job training from Sears Automotive Department of Warner Robins, Georgia.

Alphonso joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Andersonville, Georgia whereas he was an ordained deacon and lead guitarist in the Ebenezer Choir.  He faithfully supported the Youth Ministry.

Alphonso was united in holy matrimony to his one and only love, Cynthia Grover Haslam.  To this union they were blessed with three children.  One son, Octavius Terrell Haslam preceded him in death on November 9, 2009.  He was also blessed to be a favorite uncle and devoted father in spirit and love to Kelvin Stevon Grover.

Survivors are a wife of 17 years, Cynthia Haslam, Warner Robins, Georgia; two children, Alphonso B. Haslam, Jr., Henderson, Georgia and Sidney Latore Haslam, Warner Robins, Georgia; parents, Otis Haslam, Fort Valley, Georgia and Gwendolyn Haslam, Marshallville, Georgia; grandmother, Minnie Haslam, Marshallville, Georgia; three grandchildren, Donavon Haslam, Te'Leah Anyah Haslam and Anoya I'Dasa Haslam; brother, Wayne Haslam, Fort Valley, Georgia; beloved nieces & nephews, Kimberly Davis, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Kelvin Stevon Grover, Warner Robins, Georgia,  Corey Mathis, Niagra Falls, New York, Sabrina Fuller (Dexter), Rhonda Seabrook (Johnny), and Rashard Clark, all of Miami, Florida; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas Grover (Lucille), Oglethorpe, Georgia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lisa Minter (Milton), Warner Robins, Georgia and Mary Helen Clark (Richard), Miami, Florida; aunts / uncles, Dorothy Taylor, Macon, Georgia, Norma Leary, Fort Valley, Georgia, Frederick Ball (Virginia), Atlanta, Georgia, Mamia Ann Frederick, Americus, Georgia, Mary Lue Rogers, Ellaville, Georgia, Thomas Frederick, Miami, Florida, Emanuel Frederick, Miami, Florida and Leroy Frederick, Andersonville, Georgia; and a host of cousins and devoted friends.

Alma Mae Dismuke Carter

Mrs. Alma Mae Dismuke Carter, age 98, Americus, Georgia passed Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. 

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Gilfield Primitive Baptist Church, Americus, Georgia.  Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Americus, Georgia.

Mrs. Carter was born February 21, 1912 in Marion County, Georgia to the late Jim Dismuke and Mattie Croxton Dismuke. She was married to the late Henry “Buddy” Carter. To this union they were blessed with four children; three preceded her in death, George Carter, Mattie Carter Pless and Bennie Carter. She was also preceded in death by five siblings, Jimmie Lee Dismuke, Walter Dismuke, Joseph Dismuke, Lois Dismuke Carter and Annie Dismuke Jackson, also one grandchild she reared as her own preceded her in death Charlie Carter . She was educated in the public school system of Marion County. She joined the Mount Rami Primitive Baptist Church of Leslie, Georgia whereas she served faithfully until her health began to decline.

Survivors are one son, Henry Carter (Mary), Miami, Florida; one nephew she reared as her own, Dwight “Pig” Hodge Miami, Florida; brother, Robert Coleman, (Ludenia), Americus, Georgia; grandchildren: Darrell (Iona) Jones, Tallashassee, Florida, Horace Pless, Jr. (Vickie), Stafford Virginia, Shirley Pless Wesley (Melvin), Albany, Georgia, George Pless, (Janice), Warner Robins, Georgia, Alice Pless Burgest (Eurah), Albany, Georgia, Brenda Carter, and Patricia Carter both of Connecticut, Allison Lynn Carter, George Carter, Jr. and Joyce Carter, all of Americus, Georgia. Others; a host of nieces, nephews, one devoted niece, Evangelist Frances Haugabook, Americus, Georgia, other relatives and friends.
