Mr. Carlos Ceasar Renez, age 61, 831 West Mount Airy Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed Thursday, January 23, 2014.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Magnolia Baptist Church, 415 Hosie Waters Street, Montezuma, Georgia. The Reverend Hosie Waters, pastor, will officiate.  Interment will follow in Champ Waters Cemetery, 191 Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.

He was born March 28, 1952 to the late Charlie Lee Riley, Sr., and Anginette Hannor Riley in Montezuma, Macon Co., Georgia.   He was a 1970 graduate of D.F. Douglass High School and attended the University of Salt Lake City, Utah and Harvard University, Boston, Massachusetts. He was self-employed as a computer Programmer.

Ceasar was an adventurous man who sought to know as much as possible about life, living, and all God's creation. He studied, traveled and made many friends along the way.  Many of those he met remained in his life through the years.

Ceasar loved music. He played piano, guitar and drums. At one time, he was a part of the band that played for pop singer Patti LaBelle. He also possessed a beautiful singing voice that was a delight for anyone who heard him. His personality was magnetic. Having conversation with him revealed he was knowledgeable on many subjects.

Ceasar became ill 14 years ago. There were several times when doctors did not expect him to live. Each incident seem to make him more determined to win the battle. His struggle was epic. Attending doctors told his story to other doctors who would stop in his room to talk.  They treated him with special care. He was assured that they would struggle with him to gain his health again.  His struggle to survive and God's intervention kept him overcoming the odds. His death has left a vacuum in many hearts. God has granted him peace - an observable peace.

Survivors include Edwina Rebecca Stone; three children, Arienne M. Stone Renez, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Matthew Renez, California and Elisa Riley, Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Mia E. Stone Renez, Nyah Stone Renez, Kayla Stone Hinnes, Sakai Stone Renez and Lena Listne, a devoted friend, Marilyn Rivers, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; siblings, Shirley Stephens (Augustus) Lisa Green (John) both of Cordele, Georgia, Marvin Riley, Richard Felton, Freddie Hannor (Sarah), Christopher G.
