Mr. George Walker, Jr., age 80, 520 Tarrer Street, Ideal, Georgia passed Thursday, January 9, 2014.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Monday January 13, 2014 at Faith Memorial C.M.E. Church, Brooks Road, Ideal, Georgia, where the Reverend Zechariah Terry is pastor.  Reverend Rodney Duncan will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Hope Well Independent Church Cemetery, Brooks Mill Road, Rupert, Macon County, Georgia.

George was born November 1, 1933 in Preston, Webster County, Georgia to the late George Walker, Sr. and Rosa Bell Walker.  He was educated in the public school system of Stewart County, whereas he attended the old historic Randall Crossing Rural School.  At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined the band of Christian believers at Sardis Baptist Church.  At Sardis, he served faithfully on the Deacon Board Ministry.

Being reared in a Christian family, he learned early in life his path of duty.  He had strong work ethics and became very knowledgeable in heavy equipment operation.  He became employed with the Georgia Department of Transportation and moved up the ladder of success very quickly.  After many years of dedicated services he retired as a Foreman.

He leaves a legacy of love and many loving memories to his beloved family which include six children, Gloria Netterville (Andre), Riverdale, Georgia, Marcus Respert (Terri), Riverdale, Georgia, George Marion Walker, Atlanta, Georgia, Leonard Walker (Andrea), Ideal, Georgia, Cathy Green (Jerry), Ideal, Georgia, and Robert Walker (Alicia), Folsom, California; five grandchildren, Lucas, Reginald, Shandrea, Rossi, and Chloe; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Timothy Shepard, Atlanta, Georgia, Monroe Byse, Alfore Byse (Shirley), all of Ideal, Georgia, and Leonard Byse, Oglethorpe, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces and nephews, including one devoted Betty Ruth Walker, Lumpkin, Georgia; a very special first cousin, Edna Hodge, Lumpkin, Georgia; and a host of friends, including devoted friend, Joe Duncan, Ervin Collins, Bobby Fulks, Sr., and Fannie Bailey, all of Ideal, Georgia.
