Ret. MSG Arthur Times, age 77, originally of Buena Vista, Georgia passed on April 19, 2018 at the Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia.

A wake service will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel Inc, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Josh B. Gibson Center, 20 Gibson Way, Buena Vista, Georgia. Burial will follow at Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 41 South, Buena Vista, Georgia .

(RET) MSG Arthur Times was born January 23, 1941 to the parentage of the late John Times and Mae Byrd Slaughter Times. He was preceded in death by ten siblings: Betty Times, Johnnie Mae Jones, Mae B Rouse, Annie Ruth Minter, Alberta Hartage, Ethelyn Times, Robert Times, James Times, Edith Kelley, and John Times, Jr.

He received his education from the Miami Dade School System. In 1962, he entered the US Army and during his service to the country, he received several awards. Among those were the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 dev//2 O/S Bars, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm, Expert Infantryman Badge, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (1st OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2d OLC), NCO Professional Development and Army Service Ribbons. He retired from military service on September 30, 1987.

Arthur leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Yvette (Brad) Brock; two sons, Arthur (Maria) Times, John C. Times, all from Augusta Georgia; nine grandchildren, Jasmyn, Briana, Brad Jr. Brock, Elijah, David, Rachel, Joseph Times, Kain Dukes, Magnus Times; one great grand, Evan Brock; a sister, Irene Smith, Fayetteville Georgia; a brother, Allen (Peggy) Tymes, Griffin, Georgia; former spouse, Yvonne Smith Times; sister/brothers-in-law, Essie Times, Milton Minter, Johnnie Williams, and Rev. Charlie Kelley; a special lady friend, Ms. Dwain Shaw and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Deacon Alfonso Swanson

Deacon Alfonso Swanson, age 46, passed on April 17, 2018 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Monday, April 23, 2018 at New Corinth Baptist Church, 220 Spivey Street, Ellaville, Georgia. Burial will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.

Alfonso Swanson was born on August 16, 1971 in Reynolds, Georgia to Minnie Pearl Swanson and Curtis Jones. He was preceded in death by one son, Tyler James Swanson. He was educated in the public school system of Marion County where he was a graduate of Tri-County High School class of 1989. Following graduation he entered into the United States Army where he served our country proudly. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the New Corinth Baptist Church in 2008. He was a faithful member serving on the Usher Board and recently became an Ordained Deacon.

Deacon Swanson was employed with the Marine Corps. Logistic Base in Albany, Georgia working with Mission Assurance. He was currently attending Ashford University pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Operational Management and was expecting to graduate in August of this year.

Deacon Swanson loved his community and would help others in need. He was the Chief Operation Officer of NYU Hope 4 Ville. A local non-profit organization focusing on providing help to children and elderly in the community

On September 13, 2008, two hearts became one when Contina Hudson and Alfonso were joined in holy matrimony. They enjoyed a marriage filled with love and happiness and also loved traveling together.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife, Contina Swanson, Ellaville, Georgia; five children, Alex Swanson (Jasmine), Columbus, Ohio, Ashley Swanson, Newark, New Jersey, Octavius Hamilton, Rayonna Clay, all of Ellaville, Georgia, and Ashton Swanson, Montezuma, Georgia; one grandson, Xavion Swanson; parents, Minnie Pearl Swanson, Ellaville, Georgia, and Curtis Jones,, Spanaway, Washington; five siblings Chancellor Germany (Sharon), Ideal, Georgia, Bryant Haynes (Wendy), Columbus, Georgia, Florinda Rice (David), Spanaway, Washington, Virginia Jones, Jacksonville, Florida, and Curtis Jones Jr., Charlotte, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Mary Hudson, Ellaville, Georgia; sister/brother-in-law, Joyce Smith (James), Otis Hudson (Stephanie) all of Ellaville, Georgia; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins including a devoted cousin Antonious Swanson and friends including devoted friends MSGT Anthony Cimbaro, Vanessa Hollingshed, Lee E. Marvin Harvey Davis, Sr., age 73, passed on April 15, 2018 at the Coliseum Medical Center, Macon, Georgia.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Andersonville National Cemetery Rostrum, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.

The funeral procession will be leaving from the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel Inc. at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday going to Andersonville National Cemetery.

Marvin was born on January 12, 1945 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to the late Essie Davis and Isaac Harvey.  He was preceded in death by his brother Charlie Rogers.  He was educated in the public school system of Macon County where he attended the historic Flint River Farms School.  He was member of the United States Army. Marvin was a self-employed construction worker. He loved using his hands to build things. He was joined in holy matrimony to Irene Davis.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Irene Davis, Elko, Georgia; three children, Wendy Farrie (Alex), Tifton, Georgia, Marvin Davis, Jr., and Marcus Davis, both of Warner Robins, Georgia;  four  grandchildren;  four siblings, John Lee Rogers, Jr. (Cecil Mae), Winston, Georgia, Gloria Rogers, Montezuma, Georgia, Diane Locket (Eddie), Leesburg, Georgia, and Lenoris Rogers (Glenda), Oglethorpe, Georgia; a host of sisters/brothers in-laws, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including a devoted friend, Stanley Brown.

Mr. Willie James Allen, better  known as Bo Pete,  age 75, 987 Flint River School Road, Montezuma, Georgia passed Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Macon Medical Center, Macon, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 13, 2018 at the New Hope Baptist, GA Highway 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia, where Rev. Allen Waters is pastor. Rev. Coley Clark, Jr. , Pastor of Zion Grove Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.
 

Willie James Allen was born June 19, 1942 in Marshallville, Macon County, Georgia to the late John Allen and the late Mattie Skinner Allen.  He was preceded in death by one sibling, Robert Allen.  He was educated in the public school system of Macon County where he acquired his elementary education from the historic Lamson-Richardson School of Marshallville, Georgia.  He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the Springhill Baptist Church.  For many years, James was employed as a Pecan Farmer with Sidney Lanier Farms, Inc. of Macon County. 

He was united in holy matrimony to Annabree Smith in 1968. He was blessed to be the father of nine children, 38 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren.

Survivors are a beloved wife of fifty years, Annabree Smith Allen, Montezuma, Georgia; nine children, Willie James Allen, Gloria Allen and Antony Allen all of Hartford, Connecticut,  Alfonza Smith, Montezuma, Georgia,   Shelley Smith, Fort Valley, Georgia  Donnie Allen, Shandra Allen, Rosa Allen all of Montezuma, Georgia and Christopher Allen (Janice) of Honolulu, Hawaii; six siblings, Fannie Robinson, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Mildred Ross (James), Marshallville, Georgia, Mattie Walker (Jimmy Brown), Lucille Brown all of Montezuma, Georgia, Sherry Brown (Terry) and Curtis Allen, all of Marshallville, Georgia; three aunts, Ossie Lee Skinner, Ft. Myers, Florida, MiElla Solomon, Akron, Ohio and Louise Jackson, Marshallville, Georgia; brother/sisters in law Sammie Smith, Montezuma, Georgina, Mary Hammock Carolyn Smith, Hartford, Connecticut, and Patricia Smith, of Montezuma, Georgia, Hattie Eley, Tacoma, Washington and a  host of beloved nieces nephews, other cousins and devoted friends, Elaine Lanier, Buddy Free, Jary Norris, Jimmy Garcia, and Celso Veleaez.
