Thomas Moore Sr.

​Thomas Moore Sr. (known by family and friends as Peter), died on November 20, 2021 at the age of 86 after a battle with illness. Thomas passed away peacefully in his residence at Whitesburg Gardens in Huntsville, Alabama.  

He was born on June 3, 1935 to parents, Adolphus and Willie Moore in Ellaville, Georgia. Both parents preceded him in death. Thomas was the sixth child of seven siblings; Marian Stewart, Philip Moore, Excare Moore, Leamon Moore Sr., Johnson Moore, and Geraldine Butler, all of whom are deceased. Thomas was married to the late, Annie Jo Prince-Moore who also preceded him in death.

Thomas is survived by his three children, Thomas Moore Jr. of Beacon, NY, Sherri Lindo of Huntsville, AL, Emie Williams of Americus, GA; two sons-in-law, Clinton Lindo II, Bruce Williams Jr.; eight grandchildren, Thomas Darnell Moore, Brittany Moore, Temidayo Are’, Onitayo Are’, Clinton Lindo III, Bruce Williams III, LaiAni Williams, Tia’Leyon Williams; one great-grandchild, Tylon Barbours; friend and former spouse, Doris Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Thomas worked as a truck driver for many years until he started his own lawn service business and worked independent jobs. He last worked as a custodian for the First SDA Towers in Huntsville, AL until his health forced him to retire at the age of 82. He was determined to keep moving and at the age of 84, he completed a 5K charitable race to help feed the hungry. He was a member of the First Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Huntsville, AL where he re-committed his life to Christ through baptism on July 6, 2019. Thomas will be remembered for his tall and thin stature, his love for the outdoors, and his love for family.

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Moore, Sr. will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 6, 2021 at the Rocky Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Ellaville, GA, with burial to follow on the adjacent family burial grounds.

Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.

James Atwell Lattimore

James Atwell Lattimore passed away peacefully on November 26th, 2021 in Buena Vista, GA at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Home, where he was cared for dearly by Nurse Stephanie Smith. He was born on September 2nd, 1927 to the late Eula Mae and Alonzo Lattimore in Shelby, North Carolina.  Eula Mae and Alonzo had 9 children,  two daughters, and seven sons.  James was the second to last of the children and his siblings preceded him in death.  

In 1946, James joined the United States Army where he would serve our country proudly for several years. After he was honorably discharged from the Army he moved to Harlem, New York.  In 1959 he married his first wife the late Mrs. Lucille Lattimore in Brooklyn, New York.  Their marriage produced two children, his loving daughter Maxina who was born in 1960, and his late son Don Mitchell who was born in 1962.

Years later James met and married the late Mrs. Dorothy DeRoche Lattimore who was a parent to James DeRoche his stepson.  James and Dorothy subsequently relocated to Buena Vista, Georgia where he joined the St. Mark's Baptist Church where he would proudly serve as Deacon for twenty-seven years.  

James was often seen mowing his lawn or enjoying time with his extended family. He is survived by his Daughter, Maxina Lattimore, Son in Law Clarence E. Brown, Stepson James DeRoche, Granddaughter Nikita Marie Lattimore-Martin, Grand Son-In-Law Michael Martin, Grandson Travis McCord, Granddaughters Janae DeRoche and Alana Fortune.  Two Great-grandchildren Michael-Jalen and Madison Leigh Martin and a host of family and friends.  He will be sorely missed.  

The family would like to thank The Magnolia Manor and its staff for the care provided to our loved one over the last two years.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 4, 2021 at St. Marks Baptist Church, 94 Hobbs and Briggs Road, Buena Vista. Georgia. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will take place one hour prior to services.

Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.

Oris Elois Duncan passed on November 20, 2021 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the Miracle Temple House of Praise, 602 Hoke Smith Avenue, Ideal, Georgia. Burial will follow at Hopewell  Independent Church Cemetery.​

Oris Elois Duncan was born September 12, 1940 in Ideal, Ga to the late Harry and Ethel Howard Duncan. Oris graduated from Macon County Training School in 1958. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age she joined Faith Memorial C.M.E. Church and was dedicated and faithful member serving whenever needed. She was also a member of Ester Chapter #6. Oris was a homemaker and cared for her mother and father until their death. She was a kindhearted and loving person who would give you her last.

On the morning of November 20, God called Oris home. She was preceded in death by her mother Ethel H. Duncan her father Harry Duncan, brothers Albert (Eva) Duncan, Lawrence (Thelma) Duncan, Joe (Betty) Duncan, Robert (Ellen) Duncan, and three who died at birth: sisters Laura Lane (T.J.), Nelson and Doris Respert: great grandchild Madison Jones.

Oris leaves behind a daughter Kebrasha Ogburn; three grandchildren Nyeshia Haslem, Niacha Haslem, Racquel Haslem; four great grandchildren, Karter, Makenzie, Micah and Ava; one sister Bessie (J.C.) Nelson; one brother Raymond Duncan, a host of nieces, nephews, uncles aunts, cousins and friends.

Ms. Easter Mae Jones was born in Marshallville, Macon County, Georgia on April 5, 1958 to the late Walter H. Jones and the late Bertha Mae Felton Barner.  Born into large family she was preceded in death by one sister, Mittie Hooten.  She acquired her education from the historic Lamson Richardson Elementary School and her high school education from the historic D. F. Douglass High School of Montezuma, Georgia, class of 1976.  She was preceded in death by her loving companion of over 30 years Mr. James Jackson and she was the beloved mother of three children, one son preceded her in death, Gregory Bearden, Jr.  She was a devoted member of Spring Hill Baptist Church of Marshallville, Georgia, where she was a faithful member of the choir and kitchen ministries. Her health failed and after twenty five years of dedicated services she retired from Fort Valley State University.

She leaves a legacy of love and many fond memories to her very devoted daughters, Kenya Jones, of Perry, Georgia and Jaqueta Jones of Marshallville, Georgia; three grandchildren, Hunter Bearden, Jaiden Hill and Christian Buckner; fifteen siblings, Mary Felton Crocker, Annette Simon, Freddie Bryant (Essie), Donnie Jones (Anna), Melvin Jones (Diana), Sandra Cosby, Blanche Porter (Fredrick), Olivia Barner, Terry Barner, Ricky Rumph (Angel), Deborah Ogburn, Valerie Johnson (Lyndon), Brad Barner (Gloria), Wynell Spivey (Bobby) and Patricia Jones; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rodney was born on December 14, 1966 to the late Charlie Buckner and the late Willie Grace Buckner. He was preceded in death by one sister Bettye Crocker and one brother Albert James Queen. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County.  Rodney was formally married to Vera Smith Buckner.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his siblings, Rae Plant (Curtis), Charlie Buckner (Lovie), Patricia Amica (Fred),  Shirley Buckner, Jynevelyn Buckner, Frances White,  Roger Harris (Lynn); uncles and aunts Otis Harris, Sam Buckner, Paul Buckner, Altomese Taylor and Louise Bryant; a companion Gladys Davis; a host of nieces, nephews and friends in the Marshallville Community.

Kenneth “Kemp” McKay was one of the twin boys born to the late Arthur James McKay and the late Gertrude Gardner McKay In Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia September 30, 1965.  He was educated in the public school system of Marion County whereas he acquired his education from the historic Tri-County High School of the Drainesville Community.

Kenneth is preceded in death by one sister, Vanessa McKay.  At a young age he joined the Cool Spring Baptist Church,  later in life he moved his membership to Spring Field Baptist Church of Warner Robins, Georgia.

Kenneth was married  to his one and only love for seventeen beautiful years, Tammy Jordan McKay; two loving and devoted sons, Kenneth Jamerson, Tazewell, Georgia and Derantaye McKay, Perry, Georgia; three siblings, his twin brother, Arthur Kennard McKay (Tecia), Dublin, Georgia, Linda McKay, Alvin McKay and Kenneth Gardner (Dee Ann); a devoted sister-in-law and caretaker, Cheryl Watkin (Paul), Perry, Georgia; other in-laws are Jackie Robinson, Stevie Robinson, and Scottie Robinson all of Perry, Georgia.  His aunts and uncles include Jerome Gardner (Mary), Atlanta, Georgia, Joseph McKay, Columbus. Georgia, Leola Brown, Tifton, Georgia, Doris Allene Thomas, Buena Vista, Georgia, Martha Miller, Kentucky’. loving and devoted friends include Marie Fudge Brown, Aaron Byrant and Craig Turner; and a host of  beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Deacon John W. Hinton Sr.

​Deacon John W. Hinton Sr., age 78, passed Tuesday, November 3, 2021 at the Houston Medical Center, Warner Robins, Georgia.

John  better known as J.W. was born in Schley County, to the late J.C. Hinton and the late Ethel Mae Bateman Hinton.  He was educated in the public school system of Macon County  Elementary and High School.

At an early age he joined the Hopewell C.M.E. Church (currently Hopewell Independent Church).  At a young age he left home and moved to Jacksonville, Florida for a short period and later transition to Atlanta and made it his home. After moving to Atlanta he joined Salem Bible Baptist Church in 1975 which is now known as Salem Bible Church.  Where he served on the Deacon Board Ministry, Usher Board Ministry, Church School Ministry, Middle School Class, and Men Choir Ministry. He was a faithful and dutiful member until his departure. He was employed with Genuine Parts of Atlanta, Georgia and then retired in 1990 after several years. He was a member of the  Dottie Peoples Booster Club since 1994 where he enjoyed writing and singing gospel and blues music. He loved playing the harmonic and guitar and loved traveling.

He is survived by his wife Belinda Hinton, Georgia; He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nadine Hinton in 2007 and to this union three children were born Maxine Hinton, John W. Hinton Jr. and Kathy Hinton all of Georgia; three grandchildren Cari Hinton, Marcellous Latimer and Noah Mitchell all of Georgia two  step children of Florida; Siblings James Hinton Sr. (Willie Lou), Thelma Kemp, Aldine Hinton, Alfonia Hinton (Dollie), Arthur Lee Hinton, Lucille Seay (Eddie C.), Nanette English (Reginald), Eddie Lee Hinton (Sheila), Bobbie Jean Hill (Booker); two sisters in law of Atlanta, Georgia Corrine Wright and Brenda Parrish, 5 sister in laws  and 3 brother In laws of Florida and  North Carolina and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Friday, November 12, 2021 at Fellowship Bible Baptist Church, 450 Dunbar Road, Warner Robins, GA.  Public viewing will take place one hour prior to services.

Costella Williams Bromfield was born May 15, 1936 to the late Lissie Boone Williams and the late Lyn Williams. She is preceded in death by her siblings: five sisters and four brothers. She was educated in the public school system of Americus, Georgia. She was a faithful member of Calvary Episcopal Church.  Costella was employed with Marriott Catering services where she provided food preparation for airlines.  She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Alfred Bromfield Sr. and to this union one son was born whom also preceded her in death Alfred Bromfield Jr.  Costella enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.

She leaves to cherish her memories two grandchildren Zandra R. Broomfield and Teanna C. Bromfield; two great grandchildren; a host of beloved nieces and nephews including her devoted nieces and caregiver, Joann Waymon, Veronica Williams, Mary Atkins, Leslie Curtis, Angela Clark, Ikeia Burns, Myrtice Johnson and a devoted nephew Willie Johnson; three sisters-in-law, Ola Mae Williams, Annie Nelson, and Lovie Williams and devoted friends, Freddie (Gretha) Perry and Phillip (Mary) Perry.
