Harold Eugene Tookes, age 51, formerly of Oglethorpe, Georgia, passed at his residence of 369 McDaniel Street S.W. Apt 2013, Atlanta, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. located at 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, GA.  Minister Phillip Wayne Fowler will officiate. Burial will follow at the Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
 
Harold was born on January 19, 1966 in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia to the late Arthur Lee Tookes and Mrs. Bobbie Lee Leggett Tookes. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Tookes. He was reared by Mrs. Carrie Bell Tookes Thomas and, after her passing, Ms. Evelyn Thomas of Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County where he received his certificate of attendance at Macon County High School in 1984. He was employed with Popeye’s Chicken of Atlanta, Georgia​ as a Cashier.
 
Survivors are his brother, Timothy Lee Tookes, Oglethorpe, Georgia; one sister and brother-in-law, Cathy Tookes Hale (​husband, ​Byron), Flowery Branch, Georgia; three aunts, Mary Jane Tookes, Montezuma, Georgia, Annie Claude Leggett Thomas, Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Bessie Tookes Barnes, Brooklyn, New York; one uncle, Eddie W. Thomas, Sr. of Oglethorpe, Georgia; one loving niece, Wandriona Catheya Hale, Flowery Branch, Georgia; and one inspiring nephew, Bryston Azarius Hale, Flowery Branch, Georgia.

Harrison Porter, Jr., age 92, 117 Winkfield Drive, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Monday, February 27, 2017 at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday March 4, 2017 at the Mount Olive Baptist Church, Moody Road, Tazewell, Georgia. The Reverend Joe Oglesby, pastor, will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.
 
Harrison Porter was born January 18, 1925 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the late Harrison Porter, Sr. and the late Mamie Walton Porter. Born in a family of fourteen, he was preceded in death by eight siblings: C. J. Porter, James Edward Porter, Marion Porter Maddox, Julia Porter Blue, Ella Pearl Porter Ramsey, Carrie Porter Williams, Lucille Porter Swan, and Mary Evelyn Porter Sales. He was educated in the public school system of Marion County.  Accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, he joined the band of Christian believers at the Mount Olive Baptist Church where he supported every facet of the church ministries.  By trade and knowledge he was an avid farmer and truck driver. 
 
Harrison Porter, Jr. was blessed with a loving and beautiful wife, the late Ida Mae Sales Porter.  They were blessed with seven children, Calvin, Mae, Ann, Doris, Bobby, Harrison, III,  and Debra. Two sons, Harrison, III and Bobby Porter, preceded him in death.
 
A big man with a big smile, a man with outstanding character with a winning personality, a man filled with knowledge and wisdom, but most of all a man of God filled with agape love for his family and friends.  The light from his legacy will be a guild for us forever.
 
His legacy light will forever shine in his children, his children’s children…
Survivors are his five children and their spouses, Calvin (Thelma) Swan, Newark, New Jersey, Mae Swan, Brooklyn, New York, Ann (Anthony) Porter Germany, Stone Mountain, Georgia, Doris (Willie) Porter Caldwell, Decatur, Georgia, Debra Porter Graham, Buena Vista, Georgia; two daughters-in-law, Linda Porter, Cuthbert, Georgia and Gail Porter Lawrence, Centerville, Georgia; eleven grandchildren, of which he reared, Gregory Antonio Germany and DeWayne Nathaniel Harris; eighteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; five  siblings and their spouses, Alma Porter (Moses) Ross, Louise Tennyson, Jimmy (Ella Mae) Porter, Irene (Milton) Minter all of Buena Vista, Georgia and Nancy Porter, Jacksonville, Florida; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Billy Sales, Buena Vista, Georgia, Mary Hanberry, Brooklyn, New York, Polly (Neverlin) Finley, Miami, Florida, and  Peggy (Larry) Franklin Sr., Plains, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a devoted friend, Edna Baker Champion, Buena Vista, Georgia

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Shady Grove Baptist Church, White Water Road, Ideal, Georgia, where the Reverend David Thomas is Pastor and will officiate. Burial follow at the Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
 
Eleanor was born  on May 12, 1950 to the late Oscar Milton Ford and Lillie Evans Carson in Reynolds, Taylor County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tiffany Ford; three siblings Susie Williams,  Roy Ford, Jimmy Ford, Barbara Jean Ford Payne; and her stepfather who reared her, Willie B Carson. She was educated in the public school system of Taylor County. For several years, she was employed as a Seamstress with Spilene of Reynolds, Georgia and Manhattan Shirt Company of Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at New Hope Baptist Church, GA Hwy 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia, where Rev. Allan Waters is pastor. The Reverend Hosie Waters, Pastor of Magnolia Baptist Church, 415 Hosie Waters Street, Montezuma, Georgia will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.

Carla Terrell Whitehead was born on March 11, 1967 to the late Jimmy Harp and Mary Ola White-Bound in Montezuma, Georgia.  At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the band of Christian Believers at New Hope Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia.  She was educated in the public school system of Macon County where she graduated from the historic D.F. Douglass High School in Montezuma, Georgia.  She furthered her education at Albany State University where she received an Associate’s Degree in Biology. Throughout the years, Carla was employed with the Macon County Board of Education as a Substitute Teacher, Flex Tech Wiring Company of Byromville, Georgia, and Southern Frozen Food of Montezuma, Georgia as a Line Technician. She also taught G.E.D. classes through the Macon County Adult Learning Center.

James Sanders, age 79, Montezuma, Georgia passed on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Reverend Jerry Sanders, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Dooling, Georgia, will officiate. Interment will follow in Harrison Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery,  Tom Adams Road, Montezuma, Georgia.
 
Mr. Sanders was born February 18, 1937 to the late A.C. Sanders and Gussie Jackson Sanders in Montezuma, Georgia. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Sanders. For many years, he worked and later went on to retire for Super Sod as a Truck Driver.   He was married to the late Rosie Bell Ezell Sanders.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two children, Charlie James Sanders, Austin Texas, Archie James Sanders (Juanita), Perry, Georgia; two siblings, Ossie Mae Clark, Montezuma, Georgia and Thomas Sanders (Liza B), all of Montezuma, Georgia; several grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Arthur Charles Furlow, age 52, passed on February 14, 2017 at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 20, 2017 at Friendship Baptist Church, 411 Cotton Avenue, Americus, Georgia, where Bishop Melvin McCluster is pastor. The Reverend Jamaica Kelly, Pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 281 Mask Road, Americus, Georgia, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Champ Waters Cemetery, 191 Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.

Arthur Charles Furlow, “Billy” as he was known by family and friends, was born on July 18, 1964 to Charles and Doris King Furlow in Americus, Georgia. He was educated in the public school of Sumter County and was a 1982 graduate of Americus High School, Americus, Georgia.  He confessed Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined the band of Christian Believers at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.  He was employed with Agrium in Americus, Georgia for over 30 years.  

Billy  met and later married his one and only love, the late Levonne Woolfork  on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1998.  This was a marriage that was truly made in heaven.  Billy and Levonne was blessed with four children and even extended their family with a goddaughter, Javriana Canady. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother-in-law, Mattie Grant Woolfork.

Mr. Hollis Fudge, age 101, of Buena Vista, Georgia passed Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Home, Buena Vista, Georgia.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Putts Community, Mt. Zion Road, Buena Vista, Georgia.

Mr. Hollis was born August 1, 1915 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the late Alto Fudge and Florence “Candy” Thomas Fudge.  He was educated in the public school system of Marion County. At an early age, he confessed Christ as his personal Savior and join Poplar Spring Baptist Church.

He proudly served in the United States Army where he fought for our country in World War II in Japan.  After being honorably discharged, he moved to Miami, Florida where he was employed with Learner Construction Company as a Dry Wall Finisher. He was married to the late Althea Roberts Fudge who passed on  April 10, 2001.  He returned back to his native land in 2007 where he remained until his demise.

As stated in Psalm 37:23, "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and be delighted in his way."

Survivors are his devoted cousins, Marie Brown, Alto Fudge, Edna Baker Champion, and Catherine Fudge, all of Buena Vista, Georgia, Ernestine Steward, Atlanta, Georgia; a special friends, Judson Aldridge, Buena Vista, Georgia; a devoted caregiver, Tonya Wright Andrews; a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday,  February 18, 2017, Josh Gibson Center, 20 Gibson Way, Buena, Vista, Georgia. Interment will follow in Evans Chapel C.M.E. Church Cemetery, 498 Enterprise Church Road, Preston, Georgia.
 
Dexter Maurice Holloman was born November 9, 1976 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the parentage of Brenda Holloman Green. He was reared by his beloved grandmother, the late Mary Alice Wilson.   He was a 1996 graduate of Tri-County High School where he played for the Tri-County Eagles Football Team and Basketball Team.  He was the recipient of a Basketball Scholarship.  He went on to play basketball with the Kansas City Community College, Kansas City, Kansas.  After moving to Denver, Colorado, he was employed as a dietician with Sodexo, LLC.  Upon returning home, he coached Little League Basketball with the Marion County Athletic Department.
 
At an early age, he joined the Evans Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church of Preston, Georgia.
 
Dexter met his one and only true love, the former Erika Thornton.  They were united in holy matrimony.  He was blessed to be the father of four children.  His granddaughter, Gabrielle Pennamon, preceded him in death.
 
His survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Erika Holloman, Cusseta, Georgia; his mother, Brenda Green, Buena Vista, Georgia; four children, Seaman Asia Pennamon, Pensacola, Florida, Dexter J. Holloman, Tywan J. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Maggie P. Blue, children, John Henry Blue, Delores Smith, Bernice B. Smith. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M, Friday, February 10, 2017 at Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church, Pineville Road, Buena Vista, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Pineville Cemetery.

  
Mrs. Joyce Swanson Franklin was born October 26, 1954 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the late Lee Gibson and the late Mary Swanson Terry. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Mitchell Terry, Alfred Terry and Mildred Terry.  She was educated in the public school systems of Taylor County and Schley County. Accepting Christ at an early age, she joined Evergreen Baptist Church of Mauk, Georgia. After many years of dedicated services, she retired from the Marion County Board of Education, Tyson Foods, and Manhattan Shirt Company. 
 
She was united in holy matrimony to her beloved, Jesse Franklin, and to this union, they were blessed with four children, fifteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.
 
On Friday, February 3, 2017 she was called from labor to reward while a patient in the Phoebe Sumter Memorial Hospital, Americus, Georgia in the surrounding of her beloved family.  Sleep on beloved and take thy rest, the act of God we do not question, for he alone knows best. Left to remember her with love and affection are her husband, Jesse Franklin, Buena Vista, Georgia; four children, Ann Swanson-Grant, Phenix City, Alabama, Mary Swanson, Buena Vista, Georgia, Cynthia McKenzie, Dallas, Texas and Keisha Swanson, Buena Vista, Georgia; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; five siblings, Ernestine Gibson-Pitts (Terrence) Atlanta, Georgia, Teddy Swanson (Sherril), Buena Vista, Georgia, Mattie Terry Roberson (Brian), Enterprise, Alabama, Patricia Terry, Buena Vista, Georgia and Robert Terry (Liz), Columbus, Georgia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edward Green (Mae Pearl), Arthur C.
