Tyler Lamar French, age 27 of 501 Manchester Lane,  Byron, Georgia, passed on October 23, 2021. 

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, 2560 Willow Lake Road, Fort Valley, Georgia.

Tyler was born September 27, 1994 in Houston County, Georgia to Maurice French and Amanda Rumph. He was a 2014 graduate of Peach County High School. He was employed with Perdue Farms as a forklift  driver. He was currently employed with Dollar General Warehouse in Jackson, Georgia as truck loader.   

He leaves fond memories to his parents, Amanda McKenzie, Bryon, Georgia, Maurice French (Kiara), Warner Robins, Georgia; two children Kaiden Lamar French , Kylah Lowe both of  Byron,  Georgia; siblings Imari French, Marshallville, Georgia, Kegan McKenzie ,Byron, Georgia, Deion French, Alexus French,  Alisheya French, Jaylon French, all of Warner Robins, Georgia, Maurice French, Jr. Amari French, Michael Sherman,  and Ashanti Hollis; grandparents Willie James  and Dianne Rumph, Marshallville, Georgia,   Eddie and Carrie Williams, Fort Valley, Georgia, great grandmother Annie Ruth French, Fort Valley, Georgia; Aunts/uncles Vicki Rumph, LaGrange, Georgia, Roderick Rumph, Marshallville, Georgia, Charles & Yvonne French, Roberta, Georgia, Quenton McDonald, LaGrange, Georgia; a companion Tamia Richardson, Fort Valley, Georgia, a host of great aunts/great uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Evangelist LaSaun Ariva Hurt Dupree, age 31 passed on October 23, 2021 at Phoebe Putney Medical Center, Albany, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Miracle Temple House of Praise, 602 Hoke Smith Ave, Ideal, Georgia, 31041. Burial will be held 12 Noon Monday, November 1, 2021, Green Acres Cemetery, 1485 Schatulga Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.

LaSaun Ariva Hurt was born December 6, 1989 to Patricia Bradley and the late William E. Hurt Jr. She is preceded in death by her grandmothers Odessa McClendon, Sarah Hurt, and god father Carlton Wallace. She was educated in the public school system of Schley County and was a graduate of the class of 2008. She continued her education at South Georgia Technical College and received her degree in Early Childhood Education.  Her employment ranged from Wal-Mart in Americus, Georgia Headstart, Program in Buena Vista, and Summer Lunch Program Claiborne Ministries. LaSaun was a faithful member of Miracles Temple House of Praise in Ideal, Georgia. She enjoyed playing speed, uno, and talking on the phone. She was joined in holy matrimony May 21, 2016 to Kenneth Dupree Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Kenneth Dupree Jr.; stepdaughter, Daeshia Whitehead; nephew whom she reared as her own William B. Johnson; mother, Patricia Bradley Bell (Willie); mother-in-law, Charlene Mitchell (Jerome); her riding partners grandmother Christine Mitchell and great aunt Mary Alice Miller; sisters, Amelia Pollock; her twin sister Walitta W.E. Johnson (Glenn), Forenda Rice, Virginia Jones; brothers Joshua Scarver (Alisha), Jamol Scarver (Jadee), Curtis Jones II; 11 nieces, 1 grand nieces, 12 nephew, 1 grandnephews; step mother Gloria Hurt; step father  Curtis Jones;  god parents Roger D. Sears (Sherry), Ariva  Gilmore, Gewanda Parker, Randy Howard, Debra Perkins; sisters in law Martina Mitchell (Latron), Melanie Dupree (Carlton), Keyanna Mitchell (Keith);  a host of aunts, uncles, grand aunts and uncles, cousins and friends including special friends Shantell Solomon, Cynthia Stone.

James  Zell  Golden Sr., age 70 passed on October 19, 2021.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Old Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1153, Hwy 280 W, Plains, Georgia.

James was born in Americus, Georgia on April 13, 1951 to the late Annie Kate Edge Golden and the late Willie Golden Sr. He was preceded in death by five siblings, Mary Lou Paul, Amos Golden, Willie Golden Jr., Claude Golden, and Ella Louise Golden.  He spent most of his life in Tampa, Florida where he worked as a dock worker at a local shipping port in Tampa. He returned home to Georgia in 2009 after his health began to decline. In August 2013 he joined Warner Hill Mission Church under the leadership of Pastor Alexander Williams. James will forever be remembered as a ladies’ man.

James leaves to cherish his memories four children Nicholas Styles, Warner Robins, Georgia, Derrick Golden, Alabama, James Golden Jr., Tampa, Florida and a daughter in Tampa, Florida;  three siblings Willie Mae Wilson, Warner Robins, Georgia, Eddie Reath Golden, Americus, Georgia, and Annie Ruth Livingston, Gaston, South Carolina; a sister-in-law Louise Golden; a devoted cousin Ethel Calloway (Joe); and  a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

​James Akine, Sr. age 70, 201 Jordan Street, Apt B-1, Oglethorpe, Georgia passed on Friday, October 22, 2021 at his residence.  

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 30, 2021 at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia.

James was born February 24, 1951 in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Rena McGhee Akine and Joe Akine, Jr. He is preceded in death by eight siblings, Cornelius, Ernest, Christine, Elizabeth, Olivia, Lizzie, Quincy, and Willie G. 

He acquired his education in the public school system of Macon County, whereas he attended D.F. Douglass High School. James worked at Southern Frozen Foods, Flint River Community Hospital, and after many dedicated years of service he retired from Wal-Mart automotive department.  

He leaves to cherish his memories two children Melissa Baldwin, James Akine Jr. (Keshia); 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; siblings, Dennis Akine, Donald Akine (Shirley), Jimmy Akine, Joe Walters, Eddie Walters, Willie Joe Akine, Willie John Akron (Nadine); a devoted niece Katrina Akine; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a lifetime devoted friend Betty Harris.

Veverlyn “Bit” Williamson Cleaves was born to the late Mr. Henry Williamson and Mrs. Hattie Pearl Gordon Williamson.  She was the oldest child to the late Mrs. Hattie Williamson and is preceded in death by her son Walter Benjamin Storey and her sister Jeanette “Connie” Clayton.  On Wednesday, October 13, 2021 Veverlyn was called home to be with our savior Jesus Christ.

Veverlyn was educated in Macon County Public School system and upon completion moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she remained until her death.  Veverlyn was a Certified Nursing Assistant and loved to help people.  She also attended and was a member of the Calvary St. Augustine Episcopal Church under the leadership of Pastor Hank White.  In 1970 Veverlyn wrote and recorded a song entitled “Baby Come Back” that was purchased by Motown Records.  She also appeared on Soul Train.   

She leaves to cherish two loving and caring children Isaac “Ike” Cleave (Lynda) and Amanda “Niecy“ Cleave both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two amazing grandkids, William Adam Cleaves and Aspen Cy’mon Livingston; five siblings, Henry Alton Williamson Jr., Annette Williamson Daniels (Willie Joe), Barbara Faye Jenkins (Sammie), Hattie D. Towns, Gene Eric Towns, Valeria Elaine Smalls; one aunt, Annie B. Floyd-Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews,  family and friends.

Graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Lebanon Cemetery, Travelers Home Church Road, Ideal, Georgia.  The Reverend Carl Munns will officiate.

Cynthia was born July 3, 1964 to Ilene Raines and the late John Harmon in Macon County, Georgia. She acquired her education in the public school system of Macon County whereas she was a 1982 graduate of D. F. Douglass High School. She continued to pursue her education at the following schools: Phillip Community College, Arkansas University majoring in Travel and Tourism, Kaplan University, receiving a certification in Social Services and Galileo Institution receiving a  certification in Technical Analyst. Cynthia enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and other countries. Her travels were fun and educational.

Survivors include: her beloved mother, Ilene Raines, Ideal, Georgia; Her siblings, Steve Raines, Milledgeville, Georgia Timothy Raines Ellenwood, Georgia, Eric Raines,(Tawanna) Ideal, Georgia, Wayne (Shai) Harmon, Terrence Montgomery and N’Jeri Montgomery all from the Atlanta, Georgia area. Aunts and uncles include, Eloise Raines, Ideal, Georgia, Ona Harmon, Josie Harmon Green, Agnes Crawford, Clinton (Geneva) Harmon, Mack Harmon, Willie Harmon and Jimmie Harmon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Ossie was born in Macon County, Georgia March 15, 1926 to the late Gussie Jackson Sanders and the late Robert Rice, Jr.  She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Clark.  She was the beloved mother of four children, two preceded her in death, Thomas Haugabook, Sr. and the late Willie James Haugabook.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Sanders and James Sanders.  She acquired her education in the public school system of Macon County. At an early age she joined the Harrison Chapel Missionary Baptist Church whereas she remained a faithful and dutiful member.

She leaves to mourn her passing; two daughters and one son-in-law, Peggy Snead. Montezuma, Georgia and Jeanette Harris (Leon), Decatur, Georgia; stepchildren, Shelton Loman (Willene), Henry Thomas Clark Jr., Douglas Clark (Bertha), Jeffery Clark (Louise), Angelena Clark, and Sammy Clark; eighteen grandchildren including two devoted, Latisha Davis and Arlicia Fudge Smith; a host of great and great great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Sanders, Montezuma, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Lou Stewart will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Davis Chapel A.M.E. Cemetery, Hwy 26, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Mary Lou Stewart, better known to loved ones and friends as “Bunch”, was born in Oglethorpe, Georgia, February 20, 1928 to the late Dock Fields Williams and Smithie Cox Williams. She was educated in the Macon County School System and received Christ at an early age. On December 28, 1944, she married the late Robert Pete Stewart. To this union, three children were born. The oldest daughter, Martha Ann Stewart Troutman, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Melinda Troutman and Chandria Reynolds, and six siblings Rosetta McDonald, Tincy Mae Wiggins, Dock Edward Williams, Albert (Frog) Williams, Aris Williams, and Rufus Williams.

Bunch was a devoted member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Oglethorpe, GA joining in 1959 under the Rev. Paul Jones.

Bunch was a loving housewife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She was a homemaker all of her life. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking cakes for her family and friends. Bunch moved to Fairburn, GA in February 2014.  She transitioned to eternal life on Friday, October 8, 2021.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, a daughter Willie Lue Mitchell of Fairburn, GA., a son Robert Thomas Stewart (Lillian) of Decatur, GA., one brother Moses Williams of Mableton, Ga.; six grandchildren, Melissia Motes, Cynthia Stewart, Angelia Simpson, Garrett Stewart Jr., Tiffany Harris (Donald) and Dashaye Price, fifteen great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, other relatives and friends.

​Dorothy Dotson Jolly, age 73, of 515 GA Hwy 26, Cusseta, Georgia, passed.

Dorothy was born March 3, 1948 in Cusseta, Georgia to the late Sylvester Dotson and the late Willie Mae Grant Dotson.  She is preceded in death by one daughter Rachael Combs. She was a 1966 high school graduate of Cusseta Industrial High School. She was married to Howard Jolly in the year of 1966. Dorothy retied as a CNA.

She leaves to cherish her memories a beloved husband, Howard Jolly, Bloomfield, CT; two children, Sandra Dukes (Shawn) Bloomfield, CT, Howard Jolly Jr., (Laura) Manchester, CT; six grandchildren; 3 great grand children; siblings Marice Hicks, Cusseta, Ga, Mary Copeland, Buena Vista, Ga, James Dotson, Cusseta, Ga, Sylvester Dotson Jr. (Erlinda), Philippines, and Hamp Dotson (Anita), England; a host of nieces, nephews and loving family.

Mrs. Armarie Wooden, age 74, 405 Wooten Circle, Buena Vista, Georgia passed on October 1, 2021, at the Piedmont Midtown Medical Center, Columbus, Georgia. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 8, 2021, on the lawn of Mahalia Chapel A.M.E. Church, Buena Vista, Georgia, and burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

Armarie Johnson Wooden  was born on September 14, 1947 in Columbus, Muscogee Co., Georgia to the late Curlie  Johnson, Sr. and Mary Powell Johnson.  She was a 1966 graduate of Marion Co. High School. At an early age she was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Mahalia Chapel AME Church after marriage.

Armarie  was married to the late Willie Oliver Wooden, Jr. and to this union three sons were born; one preceded her in death Gregory Wooden. She was also preceded in death by one brother Lejeson Chatman.  She was a member of Mahalia Chapel AME Church, where she served on the Usher Board Ministry, Finance Committee, and the Hospitality Committee.  She was a former member of Yuletide Chapter  #383 OES of Buena Vista, Georgia whereas she served as Worthy Matron for several years.  She volunteered with the Marion County Democratic Party. Armarie retired after 25 years from Tyson, Inc. where she served as co-organizer of the Union Board of Tyson, Inc.

Armarie leaves to cherish her memories two sons; Darius Wooden (Terri), Americus, Georgia, Jeffery Wooden, Buena Vista, Georgia and; grandchildren Ta-Nycia Wooden, Chanequa  Attah (Pastor Godwin), Kingsland, Georgia, Derenski Wooden, Americus, Georgia, Quinton Walters, Albany, Georgia Dominique Muff , Americus, Georgia, Sharde Muff, Atlanta, Georgia,  Cordero Cannon, Valdosta, Georgia, Bianca  Muff, Jacksonville, Florida ; siblings Willie Mae Jackson, Evelyn Spencer (Retired Sgt. Major Robert),  Gladys Boykin,  Walter Johnson, and Curlie  Johnson, Jr. (Inez), Patricia Thrash (Retired SFC Latimer); sister in law Carolyn Wooden, Windsor Connecticut;   a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including Lynn Harris, Rebecca Phelps, and Janice Walton.
