Felicia June Thomas, age 38, 1043 State Route 224, Montezuma, Georgia passed Wednesday morning, May 29, 2013 at Flint River Community Hospital, Montezuma, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Monday morning, June 3, 2013 at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 201 Chatham Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Interment will follow in Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Felicia “Lisa” June Thomas was born July 3, 1974 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to the parentage of Rev. David Thomas, Sr. and Lillie Fudge Thomas. Her brother, Gregory Thomas, preceded her in death. She was a 1992 graduate of D.F. Douglass High School of Montezuma, Georgia. Lisa, as she was known by family and friends, joined the band of Christian Believers at Travelers’ Home Baptist Church, Ideal, Georgia. She was a junior choir member of Evergreen Baptist Church of Pinehurst, Georgia.  Lisa received her technical training from Middle Flint Quality Enterprise of Montezuma, Georgia.

Lisa leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted parents, Rev. David Thomas, Sr. and Lillie Fudge Thomas, Montezuma, Georgia; her two siblings, Michael Thomas (Janice), Atlanta, Georgia and David Thomas, Jr., Montezuma, Georgia; her grandmother, Mrs. Maggie Fudge, Montezuma, Georgia; her nieces and nephews, Morgan Thomas, Sydney Thomas, Brandon Thomas and Brittany Thomas; her special niece whom she would babysit, Nina Dinkins; her aunts and uncles, Arleana Dunn, Montezuma, Georgia, Annie Lois Brown, Warner Robins, Georgia, Vanessa Fudge, Atlanta, Georgia, Peggy L. Fudge, Willie Frank Fudge (Marilyn), all of Montezuma, Georgia, Leon Fudge (Carmen), Montezuma, Georgia, Ivory Thomas (Thelma), Joseph Thomas (Barbara Ann), all of Atlanta, Georgia, Larry Thomas, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Virginia Holt, Atlanta, Georgia and Marion Oglesby (Rev. Ms. Laura Williams, age 96, Georgia Highway 90 West, Oglethorpe, Georgia passed Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Miona Geriatric and Dementia Center, Ideal, Georgia.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Ms. Laura Williams was born October 24, 1916 to the late Andrew Williams and Sallie Mae Welch Williams in Alabama.  Three sisters, Gracie Mae Bush, Elizabeth Mann and Maude Harris, preceded her in death.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the Missionary Baptist Church.  After many dedicated years of service, she retired as a homemaker.

Survivors are one devoted and caring sister, Rose Grant, Oglethorpe, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces and nephews, including three devoted, Fannie Hannor, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Anthony Bush and Lisa Bush, both of Columbia, South Carolina; a host of cousins and friends.

Goldie Primrose (Smith) Walker, 59 of Far Rockaway, Queens, New York, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 7, 2013 at 8th United Holiness Church, Bailey Street, Leslie, Georgia.  Burial will follow in Marthanna Living Way of Christ Church, 2765 Highway 280 East, Desoto, Georgia.

Goldie Primrose (Smith) Walker was born December 2, 1953 in Americus, Georgia.  She was the daughter of the late Lester and Ruegina Smith and wife of the late Edward Walker Sr.

Goldie Primrose (Smith) Walker, woman of GOD was a long-term member and servant to the St. John Baptist Church, in Rockaway Beach, NY.   She was a helper to many and lover of children and animals.  Goldie dedicated her life to helping others, with a career as an Educator.  She strived to improve their way of learning and way of life. She gave that same dedication to her animals.  She used animals in her classroom to help children.  In her home life she had a long time family pet named Coco.  Coco was laid to rest a week prior to her home going. 

Goldie’s life was cut short in the physical sense but lives on in our hearts and spirit.  She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her five sons, Edward and wife Angelique Walker, Fredrick L. Walker, Derrick D. Walker, Marty J. Walker and Quincy and wife Tiffany Walker, five stepchildren, Ernest and wife Sheila Walker, Tina and husband John Crowder, Lee and  wife Melissa Pace, Louise McCoy and Ian Walker, thirty-four grandchildren and six great grandchildren, nine siblings, Merlene Faulk, Lester Smith III, Levi Thomas, Clara Tyson,  Jacquelyn and husband Antonio Little, Joseph and wife Dorothy Smith, Denise and husband Tony Whitehead, Suzie and husband Tino Lopez and Valerie Smith.

Emmie Brooks Baldwin

Mrs. Emmie Brooks Baldwin, age 88, 1195 Tumbleweed Run, Tallahassee, Florida, passed Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the Big Bend Hospice, Tallahassee, Florida.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 31, 2013 at Magnolia Baptist Church, 415 Hosie Waters Street, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow in Champ Waters Cemetery, 191 Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.   

Mrs. Emmie Brooks Baldwin was born on November 22, 1924 to the parents of the late Georgia Bogan Brooks and McKinley Brooks in Dooly County, Georgia. Her husband, Sterling Baldwin, her brother, William Brooks, and adopted son, Lawrence Johnson, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Baldwin was formally educated in the public school system of Dooly County.  She furthered her education and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Fort Valley State University, Fort Valley, Georgia; a Master of Science Degree in Mathematics from Florida A & M University, Tallahassee, Florida; and completed additional studies at Atlanta University, Atlanta, Georgia.

Mrs. Baldwin dedicated herself in employment with the Dooly County Board of Education, Vienna, Georgia, Wilcox County Board of Education, Queensland, Georgia, Macon County Board of Education at both Marshallville and Montezuma, Georgia serving as a Teacher, Administrator and Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Macon County Board of Education, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Mrs. Baldwin also extended her services to the Upward Bound Program, Fort Valley State University, Fort Valley, Georgia.

Mrs. Emmie Baldwin was a devoted member of Magnolia Baptist Church, Montezuma, Georgia.  While at Magnolia, she was an active member of the Mother’s Board and served as Mother of the Church, Treasurer of the Sunday School, Treasurer of Waters-Johnson- Baldwin Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee, a member of the Missionary Society and the Youth Director.

She was an active leader in community affairs as a former member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), D. F. Douglass High School Hornet Booster Club Movement, a former member of the National Education Association (NEA) and Georgia Association of Educators (GAE) the Retired Teacher’s Association, and a member of the Macon County Chapter of the Fort Valley State University Alumni Association and the Florida A&M Alumni Chapter of Tallahassee, Florida.

Mrs. Baldwin’s awards and honors include Macon County Woman of the Year, D. F. Douglass High School Teacher of the Year, selection as a delegate to the White House Conference on Mathematics for the Upward Bound Program of Fort Valley State University in Washington, D.C. and numerous others.

Her favorite songs were “If I Can Help Somebody” and “Only What You Do For Christ Will Last.”

She was united in holy matrimony to Sterling Baldwin on March 21, 1946.  To this union, they were blessed with one daughter, Reva Dale Baldwin.    

Survivors are her beloved daughter, Dr. Reva B. Baldwin Myers, Tallahassee, Florida; one sister, Mrs. Georgia Brooks Shaw of Miami, Florida; three sisters-in-law, Mildred Carter, Montezuma, Georgia, Mary Johnson, Macon, Georgia, and Amy Brooks, Rochester New York; two devoted nieces, Mattie Hannor, Montezuma, Georgia, Shawanda Ross, Washington, D.C., and Katreena King, Jacksonville, Florida; three adopted children, LTC (Retired) Andrew Reese & Family of Arlington, Virginia, Luther White, Tallahassee, Florida, and Georgia Ijoma-Brown, Tallahassee, Florida; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, including devoted Haugabook Families (various locations); a host of loyal and supportive former students and friends, including two devoted caregivers, Betty Cofield and Ruthie Flowers.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are sent to the Waters-Johnson-Baldwin Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Magnolia Baptist Church, P.O. Box 504, Montezuma, Georgia 31063.

Mrs. Bessie Lou Ogburn Murray, age 75, 225 Oak Haven Court, Stockbridge, Georgia passed Sunday, May 26, 2013.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Oglethorpe, City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Mrs. Bessie Lou Ogburn Murray was born March 20, 1938 in Ideal, Macon County, Georgia to the late Calvin Ogburn and Emma Jean Gouch Ogburn. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Mable Jenning and Cora Jasper.

She was educated in the Hartford Public School where she acquired her high school education. She also attended Hartford Women College of Hartford, Connecticut. She retired from Wiremold Manufactory Company as an inspector.  After retirement she moved to Stockbridge, Georgia, where she remained until her demise.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Willie Martin Murray, and to this union two sons were born.  One son, Eddie Murray, preceded her in death.

Survivors are one son Willie Bertran Murray, Stockbridge, Georgia; three grandchildren, William Michael Murray, Madison Simone Murray and Maya Michaela Murray, all of Trotwood, Ohio; two siblings, Gladys Alexander (Rev. Alexander), Vero Beach Florida and Clyde Ogburn (Marie), South Windsor, Connecticut; aunts and uncles, Johnnie Mack, East Hartford, Connecticut, Carolyn Anderson, Annette Anderson both of Miami, Florida, Marilyn Thomas (Abraham), Newark, New Jersey, Sandra Ogburn, Sharon Ogburn, Timothy Ogburn all of Montezuma, Georgia and Otis Ogburn, Macon Georgia; several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Earetha K. Tymes, age 54, 253 John Colbert Road, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at her home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday afternoon, May 11, 2013 at the Shady Grove Baptist Church, Brooklyn Community (off Hwy 520), Brooklyn, Georgia.  The Reverend Paul Milton will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Beulah Cemetery, Green Hill Road, Cusseta, Georgia.

Mrs. Earetha K. Tymes was born August 2, 1954 in Richland, Stewart County, Georgia to Willie Albert Brown, Sr. and the late Mary Jane Mathis Brown.  She was educated in the public school system of Stewart County.  She was a 1972 graduate of Stewart County High School.  She was presently attending South Georgia Technical College of Americus, Georgia majoring in Criminal Justice. She was a member of Phi Beta Lambda and secretary of the student council.  She was married to the late Johnny David Tymes and to this union, they were blessed with two children.

Earetha accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the band of Christian Believers at Good Hope Christian Methodist Episcopal Church at Renfroe, Georgia.  Later, she joined the Shady Grove Baptist Church, Brooklyn, Georgia.

Survivors are two children, Jamessa Tymes Hunt and Armenta Tymes Battle (James), all of Buena Vista, Georgia; three grandchildren, Lanecia Tymes, Jamon Tymes and Jade Battle; father, Willie Albert Brown, Sr., Columbus, Georgia; two stepdaughters, Kimberly Burt and Quant Nelson; five siblings, Willie Albert Brown, Jr., Flint, Michigan, Arthur L. Clem Sales, III, 54, 198 Welch Road, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Phoebe Putney North, Albany, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church, Pineville Road, Buena Vista, Georgia. The Reverend Angienette Coppins-Damiani, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 41 South, Buena Vista, Georgia.

Clem was born January 15, 1959 in Brooklyn, Brooklyn Borough, New York to Jefferine Murray Sales and to the late Clem Sales, Jr. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Faith Sales and Jacqueline Sales. He was a 1977 graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School with a diploma and certificate in aircraft mechanics. While living in Brooklyn he was the owner and operator of Clem Sales Garage. Clem accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined a local Church in Brooklyn. In 1992 he moved to Buena Vista, Georgia whereas he was employed with Todd Powell Farm. Clem enjoyed Mother Nature and its wonders. He especially enjoyed growing pepper plants. He was honored by the Tri-County Journal for growing the largest pepper plant in Georgia.

Survivors are his loving and devoted mother, Jefferine Murray Sales, Buena Vista, Georgia; two siblings, Felice Boddie and Jennifer Fulford (Jeff), all of Brooklyn, New York; aunts and uncles, Mollie Best, John Murray both of Buena Vista, Georgia, Peliecca Murray, Brooklyn, New York, Everett Murray, Melborne, Florida, Arizona Wilson, Huntsville, Alabama and Walter Murray (Cubadean), Brooklyn, New York; a host of beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends including one devoted, Gussie Denmark, Buena Vista, Georgia.

Robert Burney, Jr., age 67, of Rochester, New York passed Sunday, May 19, 2013.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 P.M., Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Green Grove Baptist, Rhode Street, Smithville, Georgia. Burial will follow in New Hope A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Smithville, Georgia.

Robert was born December 15, 1945 in Smithville, Georgia to the late Robert Burney, Sr. and Emma Lou Burney. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Jessie Clay Burney, Charlie Burney, Vinice Burney, and Cora Lee Harlen.

Robert Burney earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Albany State University. Robert Burney Jr. was a Deputy Sheriff for the County of Monroe. Robert was a man of strong character, equality and justice was very important to him. He was a pioneer in the Rochester Community with stopping police brutality in the late 70s. One of the great ones left this earth on May 19, 2013; he will be deeply missed.

Robert was the beloved husband of Francine Burney. He was the devoted father of Vince Burney, Tiffany (John) Burno, Moneith (Charles) Shaw, Daniel Burney Smith, and Robin (Trayvonne) Stanley; grandchildren, Maleaha Zaria Burney, Jayla Burno, Jeremiah Kendal Burno, Kennedy Shaw, Jalisia Burno, and Charles Carlton Shaw III; one Sister, Marie Leila Burney; a host of nieces, and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Sonya Nicole was born January 9, 1974 in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia to the late Charlie Rogers, Jr. and Helen Ruth White Rogers. In 1992 she graduated from Allen Pope High School. She later attended Devry Institute of Technology from 1993-1995. In 2010 she attended Colorado Technical University where she earned an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. She was employed with State Of Georgia Board Of Parole from 2000 - 2011 as a data transcriber and assistant supervisor.

She was married to Trojuan Ricks July 25, 2009. She was blessed to be the mother of two children, Kierra and J’uan.

Survivors are her husband, Trojuan Ricks, Union City, Georgia; two children, Kierra Nicole Rogers and J’uan Rogers both of Union City, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie Rogers, III (Joy) Conyers, Georgia, Lisa Williams, Union City, Georgia; mother-in-law, Marilyn Marie Ricks; aunts and uncles, Turner Rogers (Sandra), Eddie Rogers (Delois), Michael Rogers, Irene Rogers, Steve A. Clyde Bradford

Mr. Clyde Edward Bradford, age 62 passed Monday, May 13, 2013 at Pinellas Point Nursing and Rehab Center in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 140 Moody Road, Tazewell, Marion County, Georgia. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. 

Clyde Edward Bradford was born to the late Beatrice Bradford and the late Jetty Bradford on January 12, 1951, in Marion County, Georgia.  He was preceded in death by six siblings, Jetty Bradford, Jr., Doris Bradford, Shirley Gilder, Willie James Bradford, Milton Bradford, and Herman Bradford.

Early in life, he confessed Christ as his Savior and became a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Tazewell, GA. He was educated in the public school system of Marion County.  Upon completing high school, he was inducted into the United States Army on May 5, 1970.  He was honorably discharged on August 31, 1973.  He went on to pursue his education at South Georgia Technical College in Americus, GA.  While there, he acquired certification in welding.  An intellectual with a thirst for knowledge, he continued his secondary education, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Albany State University in Albany, GA. After completing his secondary education, he became an employee of the federal government.  He was employed by the Regional Office of Veterans Affairs in St. Petersburg Florida for more than 24 years in the accounting division.  At the time of his death, he was still actively working.

He leaves to cherish his memories one son, Edwin Bernard Bradford of Ocala, Florida; one daughter, Kisha Wiggins-Burwell of Ellaville, Georgia; three grandchildren, Matthew Burwell, Michael Cldye Bradford, and Gabriel Angelica Bradford; two sisters, Katherine Bradford of Florida, and Mary Jackson of Oklahoma; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
