​Mrs. Inez Green Ivory, age 79, 1015 GA Hwy 26 East, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Columbus Hospice, Moon Road, Columbus, Georgia.
 
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Bridges Street, Buena Vista, Georgia, where Reverend Felton Poole is pastor.  Bishop Melvin McCluster, Senior Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Americus, Georgia will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Zion Road, Buena Vista, Georgia.  The remains will lay in state from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
 
Mrs. Ivory was born in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia December 13, 1936 to the late Rosa Lee Lockhart. Four of her siblings, Willie Mae Lockhart, Ella Bess Bateman, Lovie Jane McCauley, and John Wesley, preceded her in death.  She was educated in the public school system of Marion County.  She acquired her LPN License July 2, 1976 from South Georgia Technical College.  For over thirty-four years, she nursed her family, community and surrounding area.   During her professional years, she worked in the office of Dr. Willliam McCall Calhoun of Buena Vista, Georgia. She was employed as head nurse at the Lillian Carter Nursing Center of Plains, Georgia for several years. She retired from the Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in the year of two thousand. Because of her passion for serving others, she returned to the nursing profession serving as the Marion County Elementary School nurse for ten years. She was an active member of the Georgia Nurses Association.
 
She was a devoted member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where she rendered her services in the choir ministry.  She supported the church and all it’s ministries  from her youthful years until her demise which came on Wednesday, August 31, 2016.
  
Inez's life changed when she captured the heart of her one and only love, Mr. Willie Lee Ivory.  They were united in holy matrimony. She was blessed to be the mother of  four children.  Her husband and one son, Willie James Ivory, preceded her in death.   Mrs. Inez was a mother and educator, for she taught her children well and they all became successful professionals.
 
She left a legacy of beautiful memories to her beloved family which include three children and three daughters-in-law, Bernice McCluster Ivory, Columbus, Georgia, Bobby James Ivory (Beate), Woodbridge, Virginia, Kenneth Neal Ivory (Gail), Chicago, Illinois, and Paula Ivory Nelson, Columbus, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Katrina L. Ivory, Daniel B. Ivory, Christie Gardner (Marcus), Nathalie Nicole Jackson (Antoine),  Willie Anthony Ivory (Javana), Simone Alexandria Ivory, Kerry Neal Ivory and Michelle Lynn (Marcus); ten grandchildren; two god-daughters, Terena Richardson and Jennifer Sanford; one sister, Annie Ruth Terry (Ulysses),  Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; one brother, James C. Lockhart, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Oseola Ivory, Sidney Ivory, Jeannie Ivory Kendrick, Major Ivory (Rebecca), Johnnie Lee Taylor, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

​Eugene Crocker, Jr., age 68, 220 Hammond Drive, Apt. 23A, Marshallville, Georgia passed Monday, August 29, 2016 at the Houston Medical Center, Warner Robins, Georgia.
 
The funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. James C.M.E. Church, 215 Rail Road Street, Marshallville, Georgia, where Reverend Miracle K. Bass is pastor. Reverend Billy Heard will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Colonel Felton Cemetery, 502 South Street, Marshallville, Georgia. 
  
Eugene was born on April 14, 1948, in Marshallville, Macon County, Georgia to the late Eugene Crocker, Sr. and Carrie Mae Brown Crocker. He is preceded in death by two siblings, John Crocker and Clara Crocker. He acquired his education in the public school system of Macon County, Georgia where he graduated from the historic D. F. Douglass High School in 1965. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army.  He was the proud recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed with Barrett Farms and Camellia Gardens.  He later was employed as a Custodian and Ground Maintenance Worker at the Oak Nursing Home in Marshallville, Georgia.  At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the St. James C.M.E. Church of Marshallville, Georgia.  Eugene was joined in holy matrimony in 2005 to the former Mary Hooten.

Mrs. Fannie Jewell Walker Brown, 69 passed on August 22, 2016 at the Heart of Georgia Hospice, Perry, Georgia.

The funeral  service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 26, 2016 at Jehovah Baptist Church, 201 Chatman Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia, where Reverend Glenn Bryant is pastor. Bishop James Lundy, pastor of Tabernacle Holiness Church, Ellaville, Georgia will officiate. Burial follow at the Oglethorpe City Cemetery,  Oglethorpe Georgia.

The late John Henry and Mae Willie Walker welcomed their beautiful baby girl on May 21, 1947, in Schley County Georgia.  Fannie Jewell, sometimes called, was known for her loving demeanor, spiritual character and warm compassion for others.  She graduated from the Schley County School System and later went on to Moultrie Vocational School of Nursing where she received her LPN license. 

She is survived by her faithful and dedicated husband of 21 years, William Brown, who brought a new love and excitement to her life, and her six children, whom she loved dearly, Clinton Aldridge, Jr. (Patsy), Timothy Aldridge, Tara A. Ross, Joe Edward Aldridge (Tisha), Terry Brown and Thyron Taylor both of Lake City, Florida. She had 12 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.    

Her siblings are Ruby Nell Hart, Atlanta, Georgia; Brenda W. King (Eugene), Ellaville, Georgia; Mattie W. Hadley, Montezuma, Georgia; Gladys W. Calloway, Oglethorpe, Georgia; Elizabeth W. Murray (Rickey) Decatur, Georgia; Lavolia W. Hayes, Albany, Georgia; Eddie Walker (Verna), Marshallville, Georgia; Gloria W. Lumpkin (Willie), Oglethorpe, Georgia; Doris W. Pugh (Indavis), Montgomery, Alabama; and Charles H. Walker, Oglethorpe, Georgia; aunts and uncles, Earnestine Frazier, Ellaville, Georgia; Helen Hart, Ellaville, Georgia; Elder Henry Terry (Julia), Decatur, Georgia; Elder Willie Clyde Terry (Renai), East Point, Georgia; Mary Washington, Louisville, Kentucky; and Burla Mae Terry, Atlanta, Georgia; along with many other relatives and friends who loved her dearly. 

She was a faithful and trusted member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.  She faithfully served as a missionary. Fannie served as Co-founder in 2003 of the Bread of Life Soup Kitchen with Karen Hatten where she served on the Board of Directors up until her passing. She worked as a LPN for more than 35 years.  She had devoted caregivers, Pastor Derita Solomon and Karen Hatten, and devoted friend, Pastor Oneita McDonald.

Mr. Jeffery Mitchell, age 50, 55 Rocky Ridge Court, Covington, Georgia passed Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Southern Regional Hospital, Clayton, Georgia.

A wake service will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, August 26, 2016 at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, 132 Bumphead Road, Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, 132 Bumphead Road, Americus, Georgia, where Rev. Curtis Frazier is pastor.  The Reverend Robert Coleman will officiate. Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, 500 Block of Ashby Street, Americus, Georgia.​

Jeffery was born September 16, 1965 he was the youngest child of John Mitchell, Sr. and Eva Mitchell. Jeffery was baptized at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church at age five and accepted Christ at an early age. He was a 1984 graduate of Americus High School where he was the manager of the football team. Jeffery was also active in various sports. His employment included Hickory Springs, Davidson Rubber Co., and Costco in Atlanta, Georgia over the past fourteen years.

Jeffery transitioned to eternal rest on Thursday, August 18, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia.  Waiting to receive him to his Heavenly home was his baby son, Hosea Mitchell; maternal grandmother, Mary Lizzie Coleman; paternal grandmother, Hester Brown; uncle, Leonard Asberry; and a host of other family members who are welcoming him with open arms. Jeffery freely loved the Lord; he faithfully ministered to family, friends, his community and coworkers.

Jeffery and Bridget were joined in Holy matrimony on Oct 23, 1993. They were married by Bishop Harvey Cliborne of the Christian Outreach Church.

“Precious memories, Oh how they will linger” in the minds and spirits of those he left behind.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bridget Mitchell; two daughters, Ashley and Amber Mitchell of Covington, Georgia; one son, Damian DyShawn Walton of Americus, Georgia; his parents, John and Eva Mitchell of Americus, Georgia; two brothers, John (Loretta) Mitchell Jr., and James Dennis Mitchell, both of Americus, Georgia; one sister, Valerie Mitchell (Terry Jackson) of Covington, Georgia; his father and mother-in-law, Elder Matthew and Mrs. Julia Woody of Buena Vista, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Lesa (Tim) Hardaway of Powder Springs, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Dewayne (Kimberly) Bernett of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; uncles and aunts, Artis (Sarah) Johnson, Rev. Mrs. Alice Felton McKenzie, age 94 passed on Monday, August 22, 2016 at home surrounded by her family.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Shade Arnold Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia.  The Reverend Dr. George Porter, Jr., will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

Alice Mae Felton McKenzie was born on August 24, 1921 in Marshallville, Georgia to the late Luvene Felton. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal Savior.  She was a dedicated member of the Shade Arnold Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia. She was like prophetess Anna, a praying woman of God in the Bible Luke Chapter 2 verses 36-38.   After 18 years of dedicated service, Alice retired from Gold King as a Line Technician.

She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late John Samuel McKenzie, and, to this union, 16 children were born.

Cora Mae Radney Napper

​Cora Mae Radney Napper, age 100 of 113 Baker Street, Cusseta, Georgia peacefully transitioned on August 17, 2016 at the River Towne Center Nursing Facility in Columbus, Georgia. 

Wake services will be at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Brooklyn, Georgia. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Paul Milton, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Slaughter Creek Cemetery, Brooklyn, Georgia.

Mrs. Napper was born on November 20, 1915 in Richland, Stewart County Georgia to the late George Radney, Jr. and Ida Campbell Radney. She was preceded in death by her six (6) brothers, Clarence Radney, Fletcher Radney, Emmitt Radney, Albert Radney, Otis Radney and Luther Radney; and two (2) sisters Della Ethel Goggins and Ola McCray. She was educated in the public school system of Stewart County.

Mrs. Napper was a member of the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Brooklyn, Georgia. She served in every facet of the church she loved so well. She also served with her husband in various churches where he pastored. She was a member of Yule Tide Chapter 383 O.E.S.  Mrs. Napper served in the Marion County School lunch program for a total of 23 years. She worked at the Marion County Elementary School from 1963-1975. The last ten years (65-75) she was transferred to Tri-County High School when the school was first opened and worked as an assistant during this time. As a community leader, she served others through her many acts of kindness. Her hobbies included working in her beautiful flower garden, canning fruits and vegetables from her garden and sewing.

She was married to the late Rev. Faval Napper. She was blessed to be the mother of eleven children and wife of Rev. Napper for some fifty years. She was preceded in death by David Napper, Eldridge Napper, Elner Napper, Sr., Anna Bell Minter, Ada Napper Butts, Georgia Napper Hill, Henry Napper, Ossie Napper Williams, and James Napper.

After her health began to decline she moved into the home of her niece, Mrs. Delores Swan (Eddie), who cared for her, along with her niece, Corene Averett (Jesse). She later moved to the Loving Hands Personal Care Home in Columbus, Georgia until her death.

Other survivors are one sister Seretha Radney Jackson, Detroit, Michigan; children, Willie “Toby (Flora) Lithonia, Georgia, Christine Napper Brown (Charlie), Atlanta, Georgia, Elizabeth Napper Smith, Hartford, Connecticut; her adopted “son” Leonard Minter (Dorothy),  a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relative and friends.

Mrs. Mamie Hunter Wilkerson, age 104, passed on August 19, 2016 at 1309 Ridge Street, Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 420 East Jefferson Street, Americus, Georgia.  The Reverend Henry C. Wilson, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery, Ashby Street, Americus, Georgia.

Mrs. Mamie was born March 8, 1912.  Her husband, Joe Wilkerson, Sr., her son, Joe Wilkerson, Jr., and her daughter, Mamie Lue Wilkerson Davis, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mamie was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church where she served faithfully. Her favorite saying was “Let me do for myself as long as I can”. Her life was full of love and joy for the Lord, her family, and friends.

Survivors are one son, Leon Wilkerson, Americus, Georgia; granddaughters Katrana Wilkerson Luellen (Howard, Jr.) Atlanta, Georgia, Sabrina Davis Bert, Warner Robins, Georgia, and Diane Davis, Americus, Georgia, Latoya Cobb, Yves Wilkerson, both of Atlanta, Georgia, Marcus Wilkerson, Americus, Georgia; a host of  grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Levonne Woolfork Furlow, age 55, 902 Weathers Drive, Montezuma, Georgia passed Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Friday, August 19, 2016 at the Brown Chapel Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 224 East, Montezuma, Georgia. The Reverend Bobby Brown, pastor, will officiate.  Interment will  follow in the Champ Waters Cemetery, Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.

Levonne was born April 9, 1961 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to Earl Woolfork, Sr. and Mattie Mae Grant Woolfork.  She was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Grant.

 Levonne was educated in the public school system of Macon County, where she was a 1979 graduate of Macon County High School.   She continue to matriculate at South Georgia Technical College where she earned a degree in Business Administration in 1981. After completion of college she acquired her Insurance License and was employed by Barnes Insurance Agency as a Secretary and Agent.  She later joined the staff of Macon County  Tax Assessors Office where she has been employed for more than twenty years and in June 2016 she received her licenses as Chief Appraisal III.

At an early age, Levonne joined the Brown Chapel Baptist Church where she served faithfully on every facet of the church she loved so well.  She exemplified her worth as the church’s Choir Director and Hospitality Committee.

Levonne met and later married her one and only love, Arthur Charles Furlow, on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1998 .  This was a marriage that was truly made in heaven.   Levonne and Charles was blessed with four children and even extended their family with a god daughter,  Javriana Canady.

Theodore Storey, age 66, 320 Fobb Drive, Buena Vista, Georgia passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Road, Ellaville, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Theodore was born in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia October 27, 1949 to the late William J. Storey, Sr. and Minnie Lee Wallace Storey. He was a 1967 graduate of John Lewis High School.  He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Dozier Road, Ellaville, Georgia.

He was employed as a tractor trailer driver with Preston Forrest Trucking Company. He was united in holy matrimony to the late Carolyn Jackson Storey.   To this union, two children were born; one son, Lamar Jackson, preceded him in death.

Survivors are two sons, Warren Jackson (Lisa) and Tony Battle (Vanessa), all of Buena Vista, Georgia; one daughter; Sharon Turner, Orlando, Florida ; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; eight siblings, Melvyn Leon Storey, Americus, Georgia, Lillian Ruth Batchelor (Thomas), Ellaville, Georgia, Bernard Storey (Erma), Arizona, Tommie Doris Collier (David) Albany, Georgia, Rev. Dr. William J. Storey, Jr. (Mamie) Columbus, Georgia,  Milton Storey (Mary) Ellaville, Georgia, Gwendolyn Storey Coley (Robert), Americus, Georgia, and Diane Laster (Rev. Kendra Roberts, age 27 passed on Sunday, August  7, 2016.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M., Friday, August 12, 2016, at Mt. Pleasant/Travelers Rest C.M.E. Church, 315 Norris Street, Montezuma, Georgia. The Reverend Sidney Kendrick, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Champ Waters Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia.

On Sunday, August 7, 2016 Kendra was called into the presence of the Lord. She was born February 8, 1989 in Orlando, Florida to the parentage of Willie Roberts and the late Hellen Davis Roberts. Kendra was a beautiful, friendly and humble young lady. She dreamed of one day becoming a model she was a friend to all and loved to share her love with others. She had a warm smile and a giving heart, and pampered everyone’s children.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Hellen Davis Roberts and a sister, Shelvia Roberts.  At a young age, Kendra accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant/Travelers Rest C.M.E. Church in Montezuma, Georgia and served along with her family. She attended the Macon County School System in Montezuma, Georgia. Kendra was employed at Kohl’s Warehouse in Macon, Georgia.

Kendra’s memories will forever be cherished by: a devoted father Willie Frank Roberts (Angela), Warner Robins, Georgia; four siblings, Thawanda Johnson (Fred), Warner Robins, Georgia, Kyle Roberts, Warner Robins, Georgia, Kiara Leach and Keyunte Leach, both of Atlanta, Georgia; grandfather, John Tookes (Bessie), Montezuma, Georgia; great  grandmother, Beatrice Roberts, Montezuma, Georgia; three nieces and nephews, Sametra Rogers, Samuel Rogers, and Jeonee Rogers; three great nieces and nephews, who called her “Te-Te,” Zha’Kurrius Johnson, Kha’liyah Rogers, and Brielle Frasier; aunts and uncles,   Brenda Ellis, Garry Roberts (Jacky), Alfonzo Roberts, Helen Journey Walters (Johnny)and Phillip Journey, all of Montezuma, Georgia, Edmond Journey, Macon, Georgia, Cynthia Dunlap (Sylvester), Pine Mountain, Georgia, John Tookes Jr., Savannah, Georgia, Cussetta Journey, Charlie Journey, both of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Bobby Journey, Americus, Georgia, Joseph Journey, Fort Valley, Georgia, Quincey (Tiffany), Byron, Georgia; Carrie Davis, Newark, New Jersey, Willie Davis (Caretha), Atlanta, Georgia,  J.B. Davis (Coretta), Jacksonville, Florida, and a host of other relatives and many friends.
