The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Union Hill African Methodist Episcopal Church, Will Spivey Street, Ellaville, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.
Glenda was born August 1, 1948 in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia to the late George Peeples, Sr. and the late Etta Dean Jackson Peeples. She was preceded in death by four children, Patrick Keith Hunter, Henry Sanders Golphin, Jr., Linda Faye Jones and Brenda Kay Golphin, and six siblings, Geraldine Shelton, Ester Mae Williams, Tony Peeples, Phillip Peeples, Wendy Perry and Scottie Peeples. She was educated in the public school system of Schley County, Georgia, where she acquired her high school education from the old historic John Lewis School. At an early age she joined the Union Hill African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served on many auxiliaries and sang many years in the choir.
Glenda was a homemaker and raised many kids throughout her years. Glenda was affectionately known as “Madear.” Glenda was married to the late James Wallace Ruff, Sr.
Survivors are her children, Lillian Mitchell (Eddie), April Ruff Baker (Terrill), both of Americus, Georgia; Danielle Butler (Henry) of Ellaville, Georgia; two grandchildren she helped to rear and nurture, Eulish Kinchens (Sam), and Philip Jones (Monica), both of Americus, Georgia; other grandchildren include, Marquita Solomon, Laquita Moses (Chris), Katelynn Golphin, Britany Peeples, Kapris Battle (Jaaundriyah), Jalyn Mitchell, Raven Butler, Kobe Baker and Kadrian Baker; ten great grandchildren; five siblings, Rachel Johnson, Harriett Peeples, Connie Peeples all of Ellaville, Georgia, George Peeples (Annie), Smithville, Georgia, and MacGarry Peeples (Betty), Americus, Georgia, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
