The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Travelers Home Baptist Church, 903 Travelers Home Church Road, Ideal, Georgia. Burial will follow at Lebanon Cemetery.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Monroe Turner, Jr., the second child, born June 19, 1948, to the late Monroe Sr. and Rosa Pearl Turner, in Miami Florida. Monroe met and married the love of his life on July 14, 1969. From this union one child was born. Monroe acquired his formal education and graduated from D.F. Douglass Senior High School in Montezuma, Georgia-Macon County. Monroe was employed and retired from Miami Dade Public Schools. Monroe dedicated his life to Christ many years ago and became a dedicated member at New Birth Baptist Church in Miami, Florida. Our beloved Monroe slept peacefully into the arms of the Lord on July 6, 2023.
Monroe was preceded in death by his brother, Leon Daniels. Monroe leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Rosie Lee Turner; daughter, Nanette Ogburn; son and daughter-in-law, Dedrick V. Carr, Sr. (Michelle); two grandsons, Marquiece Ogburn and Derick V. Carr, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Jeremiah Ogburn and Arianna Ogburn; brother and sister-in-law, Alton Turner (Barbara L.); sister, Elaine Styles; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
