
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Wilbur Hall Church, Georgia Highway 128, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Interment will follow at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 8, 2022 in the Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia.
Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Emma Denise Jones Duncan was born in Ideal, Macon County Georgia, September 9, 1962 to the late Clifford B. Jones and Emma Clyde Daniel Jones. Born in a family of eleven children, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Charlie Earl Jones and K. C. Jones. Growing up in Macon County, she attended public school system in Macon County, Georgia, and was a 1980 graduate of Macon County High School. She acquired her nursing certification from South Georgia Technical College. For several years she work as an LPN at Doctor McDonald's office. After fifteen years of service she retired from the United States Postal service in Macon, Georgia.
Emma and Ronald united in holy matrimony in 1983 and to this union they were blessed with two daughters, Chelsi Odell Duncan and Raven Breon Duncan both of Atlanta, Georgia. She was also blessed with a stepdaughter, Rhonda Byse of Montezuma, Georgia.
Others survivors include eight siblings and their spouses; Johnnie C. Jones (Charlie Mae), Jacksonville, Florida, Jessie Clyde Henderson, Decatur, Georgia, Walter C. Jones (Marlyn), Clifford Jones (Patricia), Bennie Jones (Betty Sue), Tommy Jones (Geraldine), Doris Rumph, and James Jones (Liz); four step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; an additional six more sisters-in-law including Louise Jones, Decatur, Georgia, Connie Leary Duncan, Ideal, Georgia, Barbara Duncan, Connie Duncan, Betty Joe Duncan and Sonia Michelle Duncan all of Atlanta, Georgia; one paternal aunt, Ola Mae Turner, Oglethorpe, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews including one devoted niece, Shernika Hooks Hicks; and a host of other relatives and friends.
