Graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Shade Arnold Baptist Church Cemetery, 11190 Ga Hwy 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia.
Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Semmie James Mckenzie was born on November 27, 1948 to the late John Samuel Mckenzie and the late Alice Mae Mckenzie in Montezuma, Georgia. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County and was a graduate of the Historic D.F. Douglas High School. Semmie was a member of Shade Arnold Baptist Church. He was employed over the years as a Forklift driver with Mulcoa.
He leaves to cherish his memories to all of his children Sarah D. Ward of Fairburn, Georgia, Stacy R. Prince (Bobby) of Albany, Georgia, George Q. Ward of Montezuma, Georgia, Ebony P. Smith of Montezuma, Georgia. Semmie J. Mckenzie Jr. (Danielle), of Hinesville, Georgia, Johnathan Tyler Mckenzie (Paige) of Arlington, Texas; Nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brothers: Jessie James Mckenzie (Annie Ruth) of Fort Valley, Georgia, Paul James Mckenzie of Perry, Georgia, Alvin James Mckenzie (Regina) of Fort Valley, Georgia, Tommy James Mckenzie of Montezuma, Georgia; sisters Lillian Bryant of New Jersey, Mildred Louise Joseph of Warner Robins, Georgia, Delores Marie Scott of Warner Robins, Georgia, Dorothy Marie Logan of Brunswick, Georgia, Pearlie Mae Breathur of Perry, Georgia, Pauline Soleman of Byron, Georgia, Mary Ann Mckenzie, of Perry, Georgia, Elnora Lavern Rodgers (Lawrence) of Montezuma, Georgia, Nancey Lagail Walker (Milton) of Bonaire, Georgia, Frances Ligail Harris (Tommie) of Hinesville, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
