Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 25, 2022, at Staley Memorial Gardens, corner of Southerfield Road and Mayo Street, Americus, Georgia.
Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Emma Gene Minter was born February 6, 1918, in Schley, County, Georgia to the late Eddie Lee Chambliss and the late Hannah Blue Thomas. She was educated in the public school system of Schley County. She was preceded in death by two siblings Ouida Wright and Aaron Baisden. She was married to the late Orbie Minter and to this union 9 children were born one daughter preceded her in death Mary Ellen Sims.
She leaves to cherish her memories to eight children Dorothy Laster, Americus, Georgia, Ethelene Edge, Ellaville, Georgia, Arbie Ann Gordon (Richard), Atlanta, Georgia, John Thomas Minter (Brenda), Hartford, Connecticut, Rodolph Minter (Annie), Smithville, Georgia, Hannah D. Minter, Ellaville, Georgia, James Minter, Fairburn, Georgia, Cara Stewart (Charlie), Ellaville, Georgia; 25 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; a son-in-law Harold Sims, Americus, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and her beloved dog Rascal.
