The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Zion Hope Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 19 South, Americus, Georgia. The Reverend George Mont, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, 400 Reese Street, Americus, Georgia.
Oscar was born November 26, 1947 to the late Birdie Watkins Jones and Willie L. Jones, Sr. in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Luther Watkins, Mary Francis Watkins, Clara Butler and his wife, Mary Alice Burton. He acquired his education from the public school system of Sumter County, where he attend McCoy Hill School, and he acquired his GED from the job corps.
Oscar was a dedicated tractor trailer driver for J & M Trucking Company of Americus, Georgia for a number of years. He also was employed with Middle Flint and Nappa Automotive.
He leaves a legacy of love to his beloved children, Shirley Prince (Dwayne Monts), Nicole Lusane (Tony) all of Americus, Georgia, Antrell Hunt (Stephanie) Columbus, Georgia, and Earl Williams of Americus, Georgia; grandchildren, Shekella Prince, Travoris Prince, Lakeithia Williams, Austine Lusane, Caidin Lusane, Jaylan Williams, Darrius Williams, and Mercedes Mable all of Americus, Georgia; great grandchildren, Bryson Temple, Justin Williams, Jordon Williams, and Eric Sampson, Jr.; sisters and their spouses, Clara Floyd (Frank) and Gail Watkins all of Americus, Georgia and Bobbie Mae Watkins of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers and their spouses, Eddie Jones (Deborah), David Jones (Diane) all of Americus, Georgia, Carl Jones of Rex, Georgia, Willie Lee Jones of Jacksonville, Florida, William Jones, Winchester, Connecticut and Larry Jones of Greenwich, Connecticut; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, including Claudette, Sandy Johnson, Toshiba, Alexis, Frank Jr., Avis, Jayden, Eddie and Travis; a loving neighbor Laura Wilson Gaines; other relatives and friends including Robert Tissue.
