The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2787 James Road, Montezuma, Georgia.
Please also be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates to limit the number of attendees at all services at this time. We are limiting the number of attendees to no more than 10 at the funeral home chapel services and graveside services. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.
Alguria Miller was born in Fort Myers, Florida on June 30, 1945 to the late Hattie Miller and Johnny B. Williams. She was raised in Montezuma, Georgia and later moved and became a long time resident of Dover, Delaware for over 50 years before returning to her native home of Georgia.
Alguria worked as a supervisor for Playtex Inc. for 33 years and upon retirement she was able to pursue her love in life full time as she went on to own and operate several Soul Food Restaurants. Residents from near and far came to enjoy her many delicious dishes, most notably “Dem Collard Greens."
“Mom Alguria” as many would refer to her, always kept a door open for anyone in need, and a hot plate of her Soul Food was certain! She has always been a caring and loving nurturer.
Alguria is survived by her longtime partner Jimmy Peterkin, two children Audrey Miller and Jeffrey Crippen, her grandchildren Chante Livingston, DaMar Miller, Jerome Miller, Jermaine Miller, Taryn Perry, Rashad Miller, and Jeffia Crippen, brothers and sisters, Willie James Williams, Louis Henry Williams, Leonard Williams, Willie Joe Howard, Bruce Palmer, Ronnie Williams, Iris Lyn Atkinson, Lisa Whitfield, and a host of great grands, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Alguria was preceded in death by her grandmother Rosa Lee Brown, Mother Hattie Miller, Her daughter Raisheka Moten, Her Brother Johnny Williams, and her sister Norma Williams.
