Willie Mae Laster Hawkins, age 72, 151 Charleston Drive, Americus, Georgia passed Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Georgia.
A wake service will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Big Bethel Baptist Church, 1130 N. Jackson Street, Americus, Georgia.
The graveside service will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Staley Memorial Cemetery, corner of Souther Field Road and Mayo Street, Americus, Georgia.
Mrs. Hawkins was born December 30, 1944 in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia to Walter Laster Sr. and Essie Mae Mansfield Laster. She acquired her education in the public school system of Sumter County. She was united in holy matrimony to Leartis Hawkins and to this union they were blessed with a son.
Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Kimmy Foster Sr. and wife, Nora, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, mother, Essie Mae Laster, Americus, Georgia, three grandchildren; Kimmy Foster, Jr., Raymond Foster and Kyra Mae Foster, great grandchildren, London, Nafasat, Aasiyah and Naa’Ilah; four siblings; Barbara Williams, Betty Carter, Essie Sims(Macarthur) all of Americus, GA and Willie James Laster (Chizua Ketchup), Macon, GA; a god-daughter, Von Sims, Americus, GA, sisters and brothers-in law, Bertha Floyd, Geraldine Kimbrough, and Cornelia Moore (Henry), Johnny Hawkins, Sr.,(Meland), all of Americus, Georgia and Diane Hawkins, West Palm Beach, FL; a host of nephews and nieces including her beloved niece and caretaker, Barbara Brown and a host of caring and loving friends including a devoted cousin Teresa Mansfield.
