The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Monday morning, August 22, 2011 at Jehovah Baptist Church, 201 Chatham Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. The Reverend Glenn Bryant, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oglethorpe City Cemetery.
Willie James King, Jr. was born October 18, 1934 in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia to the late Willie James King, Sr. and Annie Laura Dean King. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County, whereas he attended the historic Rosen Wall School. At an early age, he joined the Jehovah Baptist Church of Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Rubie Ballerd. To this union, they were blessed with two daughters. One daughter, Sabrina Robinson, preceded him in death.
Willie James has lived in California, Chicago, Illinois, Amherst, New York and Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was employed in Chicago as a Clerk at a major bookstore. After many dedicated years of service, he retired from North Shore Hospital as a police officer in Amherst, New York. He later moved back to his native land whereas he worked as a Security Officer with Securitas Security at Weyerhauser.
Survivors are one lovely daughter, Regina King, Los Angeles, California; six loving grandchildren; four loving great grandchildren; three siblings, Ann King, Bennie Jean King Harris and Charles King, all of Oglethorpe, Georgia; three nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles, Beatrice Dent, Washington, DC, Ulysses Dean (Brenda), Andersonville, Georgia, Velma Harris, Americus, Georgia, Helen Schofield, Jacksonville, Florida, Grace Taylor, Baltimore, Maryland; brother-in-law, H. C. Harris, Jr., Americus, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends.
