A wake service will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, April 16, 2016 at First Salem Baptist Church, 191 Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia, where Reverend Jeffrey Randle is pastor. The Reverend Gus Oglesby, pastor of Welcome Home Outreach Ministries, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Willow Lake Cemetery, Willow Lake Road, Fort Valley, Georgia.
Mr. Willie Alvin Haugabook was born March 7, 1927 in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Alvin Barber and Annie Bell Vinson Barber. He received his education through the local church school. Willie was a member of the Holy House of God in Montezuma, Georgia where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed maintaining his church yard. He was employed and retired from both Southern Frozen Foods Inc. and Birdseye in Montezuma, Georgia. Willie was known for always been positive and willing to work with no complaints. Some would even say he had “the sweetest disposition” of anyone they had ever met. Willie was known for his style: a “well dresser." Willie was joined in holy matrimony to the late Dorothy Reaves Haugabook. He was preceded in death by one sister Atlue Haugabook and three brothers, Richard Haugabook, Joseph Haugabook, and John Barber.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his children, Claudia Haugabook Fulks (Dean), Billy Mack Haugabook, Willie Haugabook, Hubert Haugabook, Kenny Barber (Geraldine), all of St. Petersburg, Florida, Nathaniel Moore (Ladenia), Warner Robins, Georgia Edward Jamar Butler, Atlanta, Georgia; 15 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; eight siblings, Susie Hunter, Detroit, Michigan, Bosie L. Barber, Montezuma, Georgia, Daisy Jeweler, Michigan, Lillie Oglesby (Gus), Fort Valley, Georgia, Emma Cobbs, Belville, Michigan, J. Harvey Barber, Ecorse, Michigan, Robert Barber, Detroit, Michigan, Claudia Fox, Southfield, Michigan; step-children, Johnny Reaves (Polly), Snellville, Georgia, Phillip Reaves (Terry), Boston, Massachusetts, Michele Rainey, Steve Reaves (Elaine), both of Dallas, Texas; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
