
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 8, 2022, at the Andersonville National Cemetery Rostrum, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.
Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Mr. Bateman was born September 16, 1960 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the late Tucker Person and the late Ella Bess Green Bateman. He was a 1978 honored graduate of Tri-County High School. He enlisted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged. After serving his appointed time he moved to Seattle, Washington whereas he worked as a Roofer. He later moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and after his health began to fail he moved back to his hometown of Buena Vista, Georgia.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his son SC1 Wiley Bateman Jr. (Daylis); three grandchildren, Jareshly Bateman, Jaedon Bateman, Jazlynn Bateman; siblings Moses Lee Bateman, Jr. (Shawnta Duncan), Fitzgerald, Georgia, Willie Lee Williams (Joe), Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Ella Mae Robinson, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Willie Rose Bateman, William Tucker Bateman, Janice Walton (Harrell), Barbara Walton (Terrace), Terry Hall, all of Buena Vista, Georgia and Sherry Ann Bateman, Atlanta, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including devoted friends Tony Kimbrough, David Robinson, Richard Murray, Jr.
