
Vera was born May 16, 1950, in Macon County, Georgia to the late Mr. Clarence Perkins, Sr. and the late Mrs. Precious Harpe Perkins. She was a 1968 graduate of John Lewis High School of Ellaville, Georgia. She retired from Cooper Lighting of Americus, Georgia in 2012 as an assembly line technologist.
She was married to Deacon Willie Clarence Johnson. She was blessed to be the mother of one daughter and four grandchildren.
Being under the guidance of her mother, Sister Precious Perkins, she followed her mothers’ footsteps in attending and serving in the Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church. After all the faithful members of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church had passed away, and the doors were closed, but the memory lived on. She later moved her membership to Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church of Americus, Georgia under the leadership of Elder Green and later Elder Hubbard, whereas she served faithfully until her health failed.
Survivors of her legacy of love and many fond memories include her husband, Willie Clarence Johnson, Ellaville, Georgia; her daughter Kimberly Perkins, Albany, Georgia; four grandchildren, Kaylon Holt (one she reared as her own child), Devon Perkins (Kailey Hudson), Kamaryn Battle, Jacksonville, Florida, Collin Kelly, Albany, Georgia; one great grandchildren, Devin Perkins, Jr.; three siblings, Annie Perkins Williamson, Ellaville, Georgia, Bernice Perkins Hill, North Carolina and Sylvester Perkins (Marie), Americus, Georgia; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
