Valerie taught my son Elliott who is now in college. He looked up to her. She was his favorite core teacher during his middle school years. I worked with Valerie for several years. She was an inspiration to all who met her. She will be missed.

To Patricia, Debra, and the Battle Family. Our condolences goes to your family. you'll have a beautiful sister, all of you resemble each other, the beautiful smile. Mrs. Battle smiled the same way. Know that we Love you and we pray strength each day for the family today and days to come. Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrows, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.

Ms. Battle was a beloved teacher and friend. She taught two of my three children within recent years but she made an extended effort to know my other child as well. She also became a friend after I invited her for family cookouts and Christmas dinner within recent years. She was an awesome spades card player and unfortunately I could never beat her! She was an awesome English teacher who very well prepared her students for high school and beyond. She challenged them to work to their full aptitude! Franklin County Schools in NC has suffered a great loss! Despite the challenges presented to her within her career, she always met each one with grace and professionalism. We loved her as a friend, extended family member, and compassionate teacher. She spoke well of her family especially of her deceased mother. We are blessed to have known her. She was literally "The Wind Beneath Our (Children's) Wings" here in NC at Terrell Lane Middle School. Your family will remain in our hearts and prayers! God Bless You All! Continue to celebrate her life, that's what she would have wanted:-)

Ms. Battle taught my son for three consecutive years ( he is now a senior) and my daughter is in her seventh grade class at Terrell Lane. I truly believe she laid the ground work for my son to do so well in AP English in High School. Both of my children considered her as one of their favorite teachers. The students at TLMS have suffered a great loss. Please know how saddened we are about your loss. God now has one more angel in heaven. We will continue to keep your family in our prayers.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your family's loss. I remember how lively and humorous "Val" was in school. She was a kind classmate with a bubbly personality. I know she will be missed. May your memories give you peace and comfort. Very Sincerely, Lisa Sims Holloway c/o ‘88
