
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.
Graveside services are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Mr. Thomas Frank Jones, affectionately known as “Nig,” son of the late Mr. Malachi and Mrs. Lula Tookes Jones was born in Macon County on November 15, 1931. He departed this life December 5, 2020 in Augusta, GA at the home of his eldest daughter.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Miss Verneice Gwendolyn Wiggins. To this union five children were born.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verneice W. Jones; son, Thomas Frank Jones Jr.; four brothers, Malachi Jones Jr., Fred Jones, Willie Jones Sr., and Clyde Jones; and two sisters, Ella Taylor and Pearlie Richardson.
He leaves to mourn three daughters, Vernell (Michael) Mims of Augusta, GA; Sharon (Gregg) Ingram of Stone Mountain, GA; Jacqueline (James Sr.) Perry of Hampton, GA; and one son, Kyle Lewis (Cassandra) Jones, Sr. of Jonesboro, GA; daughter-in-law, Beverly B. Jones of Americus, GA; one sister, Mrs. Annie Neal Suggs of Macon, GA; three sister-in-laws; Mrs. Josephine (Albert) Cooper of Americus, GA; Mrs. Mattie (Amos) Edge of Montgomery, AL and Ms. Audrey Wiggins of Stone Mountain, GA; eight grandchildren, Jarvis Treval (Samantha) Jones of Stockbridge, Le’Andra Verneice Jones, James Moses Perry Jr. and Jaylen Thomas Perry of Hampton, GA, Shandria Amira Jones of Riverdale, GA, Kyle Lewis Jones Jr. of College Park, GA; Kimathi Jones of Jonesboro, GA and Ashlee Gregori Ingram of Stone Mountain, GA; four great grandchildren Kenneth, Kyla, Luna and Stella Jones. One-step grand-daughter Michelle Mims and two step grand-children, Michaela and Ilyan Mims of Augusta. A host of phenomenal nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. A stellar nephew, Ray Jones of Ellaville, GA; faithful friends Mr. Booker Jones of Americus, GA; Deacon Charles Williams of Ellaville, GA and Mr. J. C. Nelson of Ideal, GA.
