
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, GA Highway 41 South, Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia. The Reverend Jerome Jones, pastor of Cool Spring Baptist Church will officiate.
Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates to limit the number of attendees at all services at this time. We are limiting the number of attendees to no more than 10 at the funeral home chapel services and graveside services. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.
Mr. Sylvester Ford, Jr. better know as “Lil Coot” was born July 23, 1942 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Sylvester Ford, Sr. and the late Nellie Mae Slaughter Ford.
On Wednesday morning, May 06, 2020 around the hour of 6:05 am, the death angel sealed the lips of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Brother Sylvester Ford, Jr. “Servant of God, well done, Rest from thy love employ, the Battle is fought, the victory is won, enter thy Masters’ joy.”
Brother Ford was educated in the public school system of Marion County. He graduated in 1960. He was a devoted member of the Cool Spring Baptist Church. Brother Ford was united in holy matrimony to the former Geraldine West on May 14, 1963. This beloved couple was blessed with seven children and they shared an unconditional love.
“Lil Coot” was a hard worker. He worked at C.W. Cabinet Shop for 20 years, missing only a couple of days of work. Later, he was employed at OakCrest Lumber Company until his health failed. Coot instilled in his children the value of hard work. He was a man of his word and everyone respected him for that.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Josie Mae Howard and a brother, Authur Boyd Slaughter.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories a beloved wife of fifty six years, Mrs. Geraldine West Ford, Buena Vista, Georgia; his seven children and their spouses, Mrs. Vicky Elaine Grier (Michael), Mr. Robert Louis Ford (Patsy) all of Buena Vista, Georgia, Mrs. Agnes Sue Dew (Perry) of Americus, Georgia; Mr. Tony Edward Ford (Carol), Mrs. Clara Yvonne Slaughter (Randy), Mrs. Samantha Fantana Ford (Eric) all of Buena Vista, Georgia, and Frederick Garecus Ford of Americus, Georgia. Fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. A sister, Annie Slaughter of Boston, Massachusetts. Two aunts, Tenny Bailey, of Miami, Florida and Sarah Hollis of North Carolina; Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law include, Lula Mae Denmark (Gussie), Buena Vista, Georgia, Mamie Lou Tyson and John West (Eleanor) all of Canton, Ohio; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and beloved friends.
