Mr. Simmie L. Floyd, age 80, 176 Railroad Street, Desoto, Georgia passed April 1, 2011 at the Phoebe Sumter Hospital, Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Huntington Road, Americus, Georgia. Burial will follow in the New Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, Hooks Mill Road, Americus, Georgia.

Mr. Simmie L. Floyd was born August 21, 1930 in Sumter County Georgia to the late Tom Floyd and Mattie Folks McKenzie. He was educated in the public school system of Sumter County. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and he retired from Cordele Live Stock after 30 years of dedicated service.

Survivors are five children, Joyce Greene, Desoto, Georgia, Shirley Johnson, New York City, New York, Maurice Roundtree (Charlsee) Cordele, Georgia, Arthur Hayes (CeCe) Clearwater, Florida, Johnny B. Williams, Cordele, Georgia; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, three siblings, Rosa McKenzie, Mamie McCray (Howard), Jessie McKenzie (Lucy) all of Desoto, Georgia, one sister-in-law Annie McKenzie, Desoto, Georgia, two aunts, Amy McGarrah, Americus, Georgia, Maude Brown, Jersey City, New Jersey and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
