
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, 2560 Willow Lake Road, Fort Valley, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Sarah Ann Walters was born in Macon, Georgia on March 18, 1950, to the late Sarah Ann Harvey Walters and the late Hugh Walters. “Sadie,” as she was known by family, was preceded in death by one son, Stacey McDonald; grandson, Kevin Johnson; and siblings, Morden “Morris" Walter Jr., Jo Ann Edward, Joyce Butler, Betty Allen and Hubert Walters. She attended the public school system of Macon County. In her younger years she moved to Hartford, Connecticut and was employed with Hartford Courant Newspaper and U.S. Post Office.
Sarah was first joined in marriage to the late Eugene Johnson. Following his passing she gave love a second chance and married the late Alton Ellis. On October 23, 2010, two hearts became one as she was joined in holy matrimony to her third husband the late Billy Harris.
Sarah loved to do puzzles on her tablet and by hand. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She will be forever remembered by her family and friends as kind, loving, and always sharing her beautiful smile.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her children, Richard Johnson (Shelia), Freddie Johnson, (Maria), all of Hartford, CT, Betty Johnson Newkirk, Marshallville, Georgia, and Christine Johnson, Hartford, CT; 16 grandchildren, three who were reared as her very own Erica Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, and Tywon Johnson; a host of beloved great grandchildren; siblings, Rosa L. Butler, Cornelius Livingston, Peggy Walters, all of Marshallville, Georgia, Ella Sullins, CT, Barbara McKellar, Linda Walters, both of Montezuma, GA, Jeanette Harris (Leon), Josie Thomas, (Keith), Yvonne Bryant, Warner Robins, GA, Harvey Walters (Earlene), Charlie Walters (Sharon), all Hartford, CT, Dennis Walters, Marshallville, GA; four stepchildren, Bernice Rumph, Bill Draines (Eunice), Holly Colbert, and Randy Colbert Sr; a host of step grand and great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Chester Harris, Tommie Harris (Francis), Alfred Harris (Connie), and Brenda Bottom (Sam), and Rosetta Harris; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends including devoted friends Penny Robinson and Zoe.
