The funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Josh B. Gibson Center, Rogers Street, Buena Vista, Georgia. Reverend Coley Clark, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Zion Road, Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia.
Samuel Louis Minter was born July 8, 1955 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to Milton Minter and the late Annie Ruth Tymes Minter. He was educated in the public school system of Marion County and a 1973 graduate of the historic Marion County High School. At an early age, Samuel and his siblings accepted Jesus Christ and joined Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. After high school, he joined the United States Army and served faithfully for one year. He remained in Augusta, Georgia where he met and married Rebecca Lewis. To this union, they were blessed with one daughter, Tuesday Minter. After many years of dedicated service, he retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
He leaves a legacy of golden memories to his beloved family which include his four children, Malissa Bender, Marcus Lewis (Abby), Consuela Maloyd and Tuesday Minter (John Hood), all of Augusta, Georgia; his loving parents, Milton Minter (stepmother, Irene), Buena Vista, Georgia; eight siblings, Shirley Stewart, Jersey City, New Jersey, Brenda Childers, Macon, Georgia, Milton Anthony Minter (Lisa), Warner Robins, Georgia, Sandra Angela Smith (Paris), Macon, Georgia, Eric Minter (Latonya), Kathleen, Georgia, Ladonta T. Prather (Tiana), Columbus, Georgia, Sherry Brown (Kenneth), Ellaville, Georgia and Rev. Gregory Porter (Tracy), Buena Vista, Georgia; several grandchildren including three devoted, Tatyana, Tyez and Ty’Keria; aunts & uncles, Felton Minter (Mary), Clarence Minter(Margie), Willie Minter (Louise), Edith Durrah, all of Buena Vista, Georgia, C. W. Minter (Rotha Mae), Dublin, Georgia, Retired MSG Arthur Times, Buena Vista, Georgia, Allen Times, Fairburn, Georgia, Edith Kelly (Elder Charlie), Buena Vista, Georgia and Irene Smith, Miami, Florida; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
