Sammie Lee Smith

Sammie Lee Smith, age 75, 967 Flint River School Road, Montezuma, Georgia passed Friday, May 3, 2019 at his home.
 
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the New Hope Baptist Church, GA Hwy 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia.  Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.
 
Sammie Lee was born February 16, 1944 to the late Nathaniel Smith and the late Willie Mae Kaigler Smith.  His son, Jeffery Smith, and three brothers, Jimmy Lee Smith, Augusta Smith, Willie James Smith, preceded him in death. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County where he attended the historic Flint River Farms School.  He was a member of the Zion Grove Baptist Church.   He was a vegetable farmer by trade.  He also worked with various companies which include a self employed carpenter, Southern Frozen Food, Inc., and Barron Dairies. He will always be remembered for his famous saying, "You people."
 
Survivors are four siblings, Hattie Eley, Seattle, Washington, Annie Smith Allen, Mary Smith Hammock and Devora P. Smith (and her companion, James Simmons) all of Montezuma, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Smith, Hartford, Connecticut; and a host of beloved nieces,  nephews, other relatives and friends.

To the family and friends of Mr. Sammie Lee Smith, please accept my sympathy for your loss. "Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials." --2 Corinthians 1:3,4 May you find comfort from other scriptures such as: Romans 15:5; Revelation 21:3,4; and Isaiah 25:8,9
